  1. Oh good lawd! The comments on that thread make me think just one thing. Thank you David for not putting up with that kind of over the top racist garbage on this forum. Seriously, thank you.
  2. When is a politician not fibbing? When you have the muzzle of a rifle in their face?
  3. I'm not saying that the consequences were not deserved or that it should have been handled any differently, only that unlike Thuggy McThuggerson who gets ventilated trying to rob someone, this isn't a happy ending. It is just a tragic event for all involved.
  4. I don't really think this one falls under a "thug down" designation. The offender in this case a man suffering from mental illness, who obviously had a psychotic break that endangered others and ended his life. While I do not mourn his death, I will not celebrate it either.
  5. It's more common than some would think.
  6. Sorry to hear that, I know how disappointed you are. :D
  7. I will try and walk this line as carefully as possible. Folks like him are the enemy, no two ways about it. Especially when folks like him are allowed into a position where they have any sort of perceived power or authority. The second best method of dealing with people like that is that once they are discovered, expel them from their positions and prevent them from ever again having more responsibility or power than a volunteer crossing guard. That man and those like him are the enemy, and should be treated as such.
  8. I've been back and forth on my thoughts of the likelihood of anything significant actually happening if Zimmerman is acquitted. There is definitely a part of me that thinks a lot of this is just talk. While there has been isolated riots in the past (Rodney King, Watts, etc.) there hasn't been anything really widespread. Then I realized that everything in the past was pre-Twitter. From the on Twitter organized flash-robs/mobs to the Arab Spring uprisings, Twitter has allowed for on the fly organizing and communication in a manner not seen before. It would be very easy for a few folks to hit the streets, send out a few tweets and then be joined by hundreds or thousands in very little time. I initially brushed the idea off, but now I think that it would be prudent to have a plan in place in case things really pop off here in Memphis.
  9. Now he is being looked at for a 2012 double murder. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/06/27/aaron-hernandez-2012-murder-investigation_n_3510977.html
  10. Those kids are pretty talented for being so young. Most especially the little girl. I learned in HS that my vocal chords were not up to the task of gutturals like that.       * I too initially had issue with the link, take out the "m." at the beginning and that should help matters.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8oUMnnvzgw
  11. The senator's yes vote says everything I need to know. I don't give a crap what he says, it's what he does that matters. So, yeah, fuck that guy.
  12. I see/hear this kind of thing said often and it drives me nuts. Folks tend to think that because they live in a "nice" neighborhood that they are safe. Or that "things like that don't happen here!" Well, actually if folks would look at the crime reports, yes, they do happen in your neighborhood. I liken burglaries and home invasions to the job hunting in a depressed area. If there aren't any jobs in your town, you move to where the jobs are. If you live in a nice area where folks have lots of nice, high end electronics, gadgets and recreational items, then for someone who has stealing for a job, you live where their job is. Unless the home invasion is drug dealer related, folks ain't invading folks in the hood for property. Ain't nobody in the hood got loot like the folks in the burbs do, dope boys excluded. *Please don't take this as a personal attack of any kind, only using your statement to illustrate a point.*
  13. Yes. The Air Force is still fielding frankenguns built on early/mid 60's era lowers.
  14. I do too. Couple that with a gun belt and you should see the looks it earns from the wife!
  15. Looks like you got a cop duty belt, not one intended to loop in pants. You may want to go ahead and get a rigger style belt if you want a normal edc belt.
  16. This is just one more example that the difference between the Democrat and Republican parties is more imaginary than not.
  17. This is exactly the reason I carry even when at home.
  18. Could be. How many "versions" is there considering it was the same 911 call? DaveS Ask NBC. ETA- looks like you found the edit you were after. (The allegation of GZ saying "coon" was disproved almost immediately, just as an FYI.)
  19. Nobody is blaming the victim, but the hard facts are that some behaviors are more likely to lead to negative outcomes. A young girl putting herself in a condition of diminished capacity in a fluid and uncontrolled environment with people that are unknown and also possibly of diminished capacity is one such situation. Rape is not an unforeseeable outcome. I would even go so far as to posit that it is an outcome that is about even odds of occurring.
  20. The person wasn't minding his own business...he was refusing to comply with the laws he voluntarily agreed to live under. As far as your referring ti me as being one of those "folks who claim to believers in the constitution and its foundational principles of individual freedom with the rights of the individual to direct their own life, liberty and property but in reality are nothing more than authoritarian statists whose only real and substantial difference from the brand of marxist/socialist/communist statist they purport to stand against is in the details that they wish to control in the lives of others." I'm not surprised you regress to such attacks. I'm not surprised about the insults as it's a pretty typical response from Libertarians whenever someone doesn't agree with their particular brand of political thought. I've seen it happen for years now and in an especially vehement way during the last Presidential election cycle. What I find strange is that Libertarians attack others in this way and then can't figure out why their ranks are small or why their candidates never make any real inroads. Maybe insulting people as a way to get them to see things the Libertarian way works with some folks but it doesn't work with me and and think the Libertarian party's lack of success is a pretty good indicator that it's not working for many other people either. I'm not trying to get you to see things the libertarian way, I learned long ago that you are a statist and well, statists gonna state. P.S. It's good to have you on the opposite side of the argument again. We have been agreeing on far too much lately.
  21. Unlike you who has apparently done so quite willingly.  I understand that can be hard for you to understand this, but as the calf was unwilling, so was the person minding his own business before his neighbors decided to be busybodies and dictate how he/she was to make use of their own property. Neighbors who then believe it is appropriate to use the government threat of violence to enforce their will. I do find it quite amusing that when defending your position you slip into phrasing the issue in terms of the "democratic process" in the same manner the left defends their attack on the 2A. No "democratic process" may legitimately infringe upon the fundamental liberties of the individual, those things most succinctly described by three words, "life, liberty, property".   As far as why I keep going on with it, I just like to argue. I especially like to argue with folks who claim to believers in the constitution and its foundational principles of individual freedom with the rights of the individual to direct their own life, liberty and property but in reality are nothing more than authoritarian statists whose only real and substantial difference from the brand of marxist/socialist/communist statist they purport to stand against is in the details that they wish to control in the lives of others.    If you live under an HOA, have no fear, I will never be your neighbor. Otherwise, I will ignore illegitimate diktats from petty tyrants and busybodies.
