I don't think they should hardly compromise on anything. The lack of compromise will ideally result in gridlock, where they do little or nothing. I'd be happy to pay the politicians much higher salaries if they would merely go up to washington or nashville and do little or nothing. Leave us the heck alone. This. You will never hear me complain about the inability of government to get things done. That's the whole problem in the first place! They do too many things they have no business doing with money stolen from the people. If we could dump the entirety of the federal government (literally down to the last man or woman) into the Washington incinerator, we would all be better off.

I understand perfectly, thank you very much and you really don't have to get your panties in a wad and not so vaguely insult me by asserting that I'm a Republican (which I haven't been for more years than you've been old enough to vote) and therefore a statist just because I don't agree with your "superior insight" (perhaps insulting people is just your way of eliciting their support for your way of political thought? :screwy:). The bill needed to be voted to the floor so it could be defeated...I highly suspect, although I don't have time to do so right now, that similar procedural things have been done by our founding fathers since the earliest days of our nation; but I suppose you would probably call them statists too! But that's okay; if you want to hate on Corker and Alexander for actually doing something right for once or hate on me for that matter, I won't stand in your way.   How useful was that procedural action "that had to be done" when Harry Reid can recall the measure for another vote at any time?

You still don't get it, and I don't think you ever will. Fundamental human rights are not something that can be legitimately voted on. Your inability to understand that places you and your Republican compatriots in the same category as all of those Democrats you dislike so much. I'm reminded of the old joke about Churchill at the dinner party and the woman whom he asked to sleep with him for varying amounts if money. What you are is clear, it is only to what degree that is yet to be determined. Republican, Democrat, fascist, communist all are authoritarian statists with only minor degrees of difference between them.

I was not aware of the second location. I will definitely put this information to use. Thank you. :D

No shocker there. I especially enjoy the one where if someone ends up on a secret list with no way appeal or even to find out how you got on it they lose their 2nd Amemndment rights. -
That is excellent as well.

If you are willing to travel just a few short miles into Midtown, the BBQ Shop on Madison is my favorite in the city. Another option is Cozy Corner at the corner of Danny Thomas and North Parkway. Those are my two favorite BBQ joints in the city.

Is it okay to drink while carrying/handling guns?
Chucktshoes replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
The only stupidity alcohol makes me prone to makes ME likely to get shot by my wife. So no, the guns don't get put away because I am having a beer or three. I don't play with them when drinking just like I don't play with them when sober. If I felt that imbibing alcohol made me unsafe to be around a firearm, I'd quit drinking entirely because imbibing would make me unsafe to be around anything or anyone. -
I'll see you there. That location will be all of 5 minutes from my house. :D

Yes. The owner is a permit holder and none of his establishments prohibit carry. He told me that he has no plans to ever post. I'm in there pretty regularly as well as Soulfish (his catfish restaurants).

Anyone who equates Trayvon Martin with Emmitt Till shows themself to be completely unserious and not worth paying attention to at all.

To add a little bit of backing to what I said about how this played out in Memphis, here is a 2008 article from The Atlantic that explains what happened here very clearly. Tip of the hat to crimsonaudio for posting the link to this story elsewhere. http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2008/07/american-murder-mystery/306872/

I had a nice long reply typed out, but decided to delete it as I am sure it crossed lines that the moderation staff here would be unable to ignore within regards to advocating violence against government officials. I'm out of this one. Enjoy continuing to fool yourself into believing that there is truly a functional difference between the Republicans and Democrats.

If I considered myself part of the right that might bother me, but I'm not and it doesn't. I posted an image here before that sums up my view that the left/right paradigm most of the population buys into is a suckers game no matter which side you end up on. Both sides are full of authoritarian statists who think it's perfectly acceptable to use the government's guns to steal money from the people and force them to live their lives in a manner of which they approve. You will find me standing outside that cage calling both parties out for being the agents of collectivism that they are.

There's the rub. As long as folks believe the garbage about "wasting your vote" and "it's a defacto vote for x" they won't quit voting for the total and complete bags of shit that the R and D parties put up. No matter how likely or unlikely the candidate who receives your vote is to win, the only time you waste a vote is when you vote for someone you don't really support or believe in because "as bad as he is, at least he isn't the other guy." The last time I held my nose and voted for the lesser of two evils it was for John McCain because he wasn't Obama. I was left with a bad taste in my mouth and still got Obama. Never again will I vote against someone. Even if I can't avoid having a shitty president hell bent on destroying this country (either intentionally like Obama or unintentionally like I believe McCain and Romney would have done because they just wouldn't have been able to help themselves) I can at least have a clear conscience as the Democrats AND Republicans finish the job knowing that I didn't help either party in their work.

If you have a SWAT team, you need to justify its existence by using it.

I haven't seen too much glamorization of drug use or production in BB. In fact unless you consider the depiction of the lucrative nature of the distribution business as glamorous, the show is decidedly unglamorous in its storyline. The show has depicted the fall of, if not a good man, at least a decent man into a monster.

Nancy Mace, the first female grad of The Citidel, has declared as a primary challenger for the seat held by Sen. Lindsay Graham. I love it when Cavuto referred to Graham as a RINO. http://video.foxnews.com/v/2586947693001/first-female-citadel-grad-challenging-sen-grahams-seat/

I recognize this debate! It's the one where Republican apologists stake out the position of voting against the Democrats for fear of the harm they cause and libertarians attempt to explain that there is no functional difference between the parties and that they are both controlled by progressives that think it is perfectly ok to use the government to legislate control of how other people live their lives and spend their money. The libertarians eventually lose patience and get snarky, the Republican apologists get offended and there are tears and recriminations for weeks on end. Cue the butthurt in 3...2...1...
