  2. All movie theaters in Memphis are posted. Every single stinking one of them.
  3. Would somebody hang the quisling bastard already?
  4. Thurmond's filibuster was in 1957, when he was still a Democrat, in opposition to the Civil Rights Act of 1957.
  5. Just because I'm getting screwed by the IRS doesn't make me bitter about it enough to help them screw somebody else. I wholeheartedly support anyone in their efforts to avoid the legal plunder, the outright theft that is our tax code.
  6. Waffle House is my go to spot for after drink meals. I wonder if the service levels you have received were centered around a certain area as while I have gotten fair service on the low end, I generally get good to sometimes excellent service here at he locations in Memphis. Day or night.
  7. Here goes nothing... Certain things, no matter what some may think, are not up for a vote. That's why the founders set up a republic and not a democracy. To restrain the government and protect the individual from his/her neighbors. What was intended is not what we have where our government on a near daily basis takes up and votes upon matters in which they have no business sticking their overly large proboscides. You often give the impression that as long as a democratic process is followed, the outcome is valid. When the subjects being submitted to that democratic process are life, liberty and property I would soundly reject that position as not just incorrect but wholly immoral.
  8. I miss those guys.
  9. Finally got to watch the episode. Todd doesn't surprise me, he always was a psychopath. That was settled when he killed the kid. The subdued slow burning intensity of the last couple of episodes ism building up to one hell of an explosive ending. I am both anxiously awaiting the finale and dreading it.
  10. Tanker, I will also point out that the franchise was not nearly as universal initially as you make it sound. Initially the franchise was restricted to white, landowning males above the age of 21. Non land owners in got the vote prior to Lincoln's War, Blacks got the vote in increments from the 1860s to 1960s, women in the 1920s and 18-20 year olds in 71. There is a very strong case to be made that as the franchise was expanded to those without real skin in the game, the deterioration of the country accelerated.
  11. Drinking some Schlafly pumpkin ale. Good stuff. Pumpkin beer that tastes like pumpkin. Unlike that god awful New Belgium Pumpkick which tasted like fricken cranberries.
  12. :screwy:
  13. I'm not a gamer, so maybe that's why I don't understand what the hell you are talking about. My wife and I have been together 12 years and I still try to get sex as much as she will let me.
  14. Well done, sir.
  15. It is disappointing when I have really excellent farts by myself. To truly appreciate fine flatulence requires an audience and if it is captive, in a vehicle with the power windows locked out, all the better. :D
  16. I have the entire series on DVD. It's excellent.
  17. It is also about a week after 3 cats got themselves arrested for disturbing the peace by carrying rifles at a Starbucks. That like, 2 minutes ago in corporate time. If you want to look for the proverbial camel back breaking straw, I would feel safe placing my bets on that one. DC was just unfortunate timing.
  18. His 6 year old might know a Daniel Tiger who lives in Fred's old neighborhood.
  19. At this point, under advice from my counsel, I am going to exercise my 5th amendment right and decline to answer the question on the grounds that I may incriminate myself.
  20. Boobies?
  21. http://booksbikesboomsticks.blogspot.com/2013/09/qotd-nearly-perfect-overlap-edition.html?m=1 I won't summarize as it will do a disservice to Tam, but she makes quite the sharp point.
  22. Bob Odenkirk has been a very busy character actor for nearly 2 decades, you have probably seen him several times in small roles. There is a good documentary about the phenomenon you are describing, "That Guy...Who Was in That Thing."
  23. I don't like Starbucks coffee anyways, it has always just tasted burnt to me. I am also a proponent of OC if that is the method the individual chooses and feels comfortable using. That being said, the firearms community has helped force Starbucks hand on this matter. Starbucks has never wanted to be a part of this debate, as a private business I respect their right to ask to be left out of this conversation. They aren't a political entity, they are a coffee shop and they have maintained that position from the beginning. If we wanted to support them, we should have done so with our correspondence and money while remaining low key in the stores. Large OC gatherings in a private business who doesn't want us there doing that is counterproductive, as this change in policy shows. The new policy isn't an outright ban, but a request. It is now our responsibility to honor that request in the best way we can. For some that will be no longer patronizing them; for others, it will be carrying concealed. Regardless it is wise to understand that we are most likely not a large enough constituency amongst their customer base to make any substantial dent in their bottom line.
  24. Quoted for truth.
  25. I doubt we will ever come face to face. When he was coming to Memphis for that class at Rangemasters, I was actually gonna invite him out for a "no hard feelings" beer. I have friends who are actual card carrying communists; I figured he couldn't be all bad. I couldn't send the PM cause he had me blocked.
