Upon further consideration, don't take this Jeep off road. Why you might ask? Trees.

You are ascribing the views of others, which I have neither stated nor endorsed, to me. Please don't. If you want to debate others for views they hold, cool, but that isn't what I have said so don't expect me to defend other's positions. I do OC on occasion. I would like long gun OC legalized because I can foresee times where it would be appropriate. I don't think strapping my AR to my back and heading down to Starbucks (who doesn't want my gun there in the first place) and all but screaming "look at me!!!!" falls under the heading of appropriate. That still doesn't mean I think the government has any business making a law against it. Just as I don't want other folks using the government against me to legislate their idea of what is or is not a good idea, I refuse to do the same to others. Laws should not be used to protect people from themselves. There is a vast difference between me saying, "what you are doing is stupid and you are a dumbass for doing it" and "what you are doing is stupid, so we made it illegal. Now turn around and place your hands behind your back." One of them is the expression of an opinion, the other is an act of violence. Like I said before, just because I don't think an action should be illegal, doesn't mean I can't call you a dumbass for doing it.

Almost, but not quite. The tarring and feathering is a little much. Here's the thing, just because something may not be a good idea for whatever reason, does not mean that the government should be making laws against it. I don't think it is a good idea to use IV drugs like heroin. I also don't think the government has any business making it illegal and stealing from the populace to wage a horrendous drug war against them to stop a consensual activity. No victim, no crime. Edited to add: Just because I don't think there should be a law against what somebody is doing, doesn't mean I can't tell them that they are a dumbass for doing it.

I'd prefer Coolidge myself.

It is impossible to hit anything with it. The only downside is the stereo is only compatible with the iPhone as it has a history of not recognizing Droids.

I guess they had to do a tech surge and fix it. :D

Bracken's "Enemies" trilogy free on kindle.

David Codrea has it right, get it out there on your FB page or other social media. Don't just download it yourself, tell others about it so the message contained in these books can be spread far and wide. http://www.examiner.com/article/free-downloads-for-second-book-enemies-trilogy-starts-today -
I don't disagree with this at all. It was the introduction of a more clearly defined and structured environment that actually started to help me with my behavioral issues. The Ritalin just masked them by turning me into a doped up zombie. I would say that even including the kids that have a real, definable issue like I did (there were 3 days of inpatient testing involved in my diagnosis) the vast majority can be better helped with consistent structure and discipline than with the drugs. The drugs hide the underlying issues so the parents and other parties don't have to deal with them.
-
I was on Ritalin as a child from K-3rd grade when my parents decided that the school could go eff itself. It was the school folks that initially suggested ADHD testing and then pressured my parents to have me put on Ritalin. That crap is evil. The first teacher or school administrator to broach the subject with me regarding my daughter and/or any other children we may have will get a firm and not so polite warning to never speak of it again. The next one will get knocked the fuck out.

Call me an absolutist if you want, but I can't get past the "shall not be infringed" part that follows "the right to keep and bear arms".

US Supreme Court to hear Tennessee gun case

True, but your edit didn't affect my point, so it stands as is. :P -
US Supreme Court to hear Tennessee gun case

Especially since as I understand it, the federal government is all or nothing on the subject. If the state places ANY restriction upon firearms ownership upon restoration of franchise rights, the federal government does not recognize the rights as having been restored at all. Though a nonviolent felon in possession of a long gun may not face state charges, they are still eligible for federal charges. -
I've made a couple of jumps and I never jumped out of a "perfectly good airplane". I have jumped from several "moderately reliable" aircraft and one Cessna that looked like it had been through a few bird strikes. By bird strikes I mean someone's ex wife had taken a baseball bat to it in a fit of rage

That's a for sure Best of Craigslist winner there.

While I can see why one would hold that position, I can't justify the theft from citizens necessary to raise the funds in the first place. Government doesn't have any money of its own, it only has what it has first stolen from the people.

There is a manager somehwhere who is about to be applying for EBT...

Corporate welfare is an investment that provides a return to the people? Tell that to Solyndra. The way you make an environment hospitable to business isn't by bribery with tax dollars. It is by not taxing and regulating them out of profitability. Leave people and business to live or die by their own merits and get the government out of their hair. Tax dollars should be spent only when absolutely necessary to provide bare bones essential functions like the courts or national defense (not offensive war adventuring). If the government has to support itself by stealing a third of its citizens' wealth and STILL has to borrow 40% on top of that it makes one wonder weather we really need it or if it just a really big, overgrown parasite on the people.
-
Don't forget the welfare for megacorps too! If I had a choice, I'd prefer to remove the word "tax" from the phrase "my tax dollars" and just keep "my dollars".
-
This is just a WAG on my part, but I think it may stem from the fact that the abuses of the EBT system are much more visible to us. I am sure most of us here can recount an experience where we were first hand witness to what appeared to be abuse of the system. Not many folks look deep enough into the arcane convolutions of defense contracts or other .gov appropriations to see the extreme amounts of abuse of our tax dollars. It all pisses me off, but of course I am one of those extreme libertarian types with a heavy ancap influence who would see 90% of the government abolished.
