1.   I really like the 36" CRB. That's now on my short list of purchases to make. Thanks for the link.   http://www.sneakybags.com/store/Covert_Rifle_Bags/CRB_Covert_Rifle_Bags_Medium
2. Keep the dickholes off my rifle.
3. Time to update the resume!
4.   1)I will grant you this. There are loads of reasons for an officer to be accelerating quickly behind someone. The real question is, are the reasons legitimate. Sometimes they are, sometimes they aren't. 2) This is a good rule of thumb regardless of whether the person riding your ass in an unsafe manner is a cop or not. 3) Agreed. This is unsafe for everyone involved, including folks in the other lanes. 4) Are you ####ing kidding me!?!?!?!? IF (I'm really trying to grant you the opportunity to walk back from this one) this is a serious response and you would even consider engaging in this sort of jackbootery because you got brake checked for driving like an asshole, you shouldn't be allowed to have any more authority than telling kids not to cut in the lunch line.    If an officer has a legitimate reason for exceeding the speed limit and needs another vehicle to get out of the way because they are responding to an urgent call then it is incumbent upon the officer to signal the other driver to move out of the way (I think there are flashing lights and/or sirens available which may be used for this purpose) otherwise the officer isn't entitled to drive like a douchebag just because he is in a special car. Badges don't make make jerks special, they just make them jerks with badges.   5)Common sense, try acquiring some yourself.
5.
Wow. No state universities, crush land grant college concept, no federal grants for anything, no local tax money for schools. Pretty rad. Reckon everybody can just home school all the professions we need, from 1st grade though graduate school level? Or keep up even the status quo by parents paying out of pocket from age 6 on? You think the dumbing down of America is epidemic now, just wow. - OS
The dumbing down of America is because of the intrusion of the government into education, more precisely the intrusion of the federal government into the running of local school systems. Most things taught in schools today are of little to no positive value and are not retained by the child in a useful manner. I do believe that homeschooling is the preferable manner to instruct children and that where it is insufficient a market based approach is superior to government controlled monopolies. With regards to post secondary education at state schools, the citizenry are on the hook at both ends for the money given directly to the school by the state and also for the student loans that are subsidized by the taxpayers. Student loans that are a major factor in the rising cost of tuition as there is no incentive for the schools to remain competitive on price because the student can just borrow their way into debt slavery. No matter how purportedly noble the aims, theft is theft and this is theft.
6. Gimmick until proven otherwise.
7.
Didn't "cut" anything overall. Just moved existing budget money around during a lean year to exclude UT, which was unprecedented. Then that became the standard % even after Lamar was gone, even when GOP got back in power in Nashville. That's Lamar's true legacy to TN education. - OS
Cry me a river. I do not support any public dollars for funding education so whether they spend the money they steal on education or welfare or whatever else they spend it on doesn't really matter to me. It is still filthy lucre from legalized plunder. I guess I am saying I couldn't care less if UT closed up shop tomorrow as it's only real function is to suck up tax dollars. Don't mistake this as any sort of statement of support for Alexander. He is a criminal and enemy of the people who would best serve the state of TN by dancing a hangman's jig.
8.
Anyone who cares about UT wouldn't think so -- and I don't mean frigging football. Appropriations were slashed because all he did his first year as Prez was run around the country stumping for GOP stuff, pissed off the Dem legislature in Nashville, so they punished our flagship university. Of course Lamar made sure that none of his favored bureaucrats in the system felt it. Hell, he didn't even live in Knoxville the first year, and the standing joke in the PR dept here was that they had to throw Honey off the moving truck in chains. At any rate, he only used UT as springboard to get the hell up to DC, which he did ironically as Sec of Education, and left UT in tatters due to inattention and malfeasance. - OS
So, what 6.8 said. I don't care what the reason is, anytime the .gov cuts funding for anything at all it is a win.
9.
Meh, it was my first handgun, and while I have nothing against them as my time with it showed it to be reliable for the money, I also know that they are boat anchors and the BIGGEST pain to strip down BUT if you're on a budget and absolutely need to get a pistol, this is a viable option. I just talk smack about them as I've had one. ;)
This right here was exactly my experience. I had been thinking about getting a gun and then a neighbor of ours got burgled. I had less than $200 but that got me a Hi-Point .45 and a couple of boxes of ammo that night. I eventually sold it but never had any issue out of it. If it is all you can afford, it will get the job done.
10.
I wish they would gain a lot more ground.
Then join us! :D ETA: You kinda have for the most part now that I think about it. :)
11. All on this page. http://battlecomp.com/index.php?main_page=page&id=3   "... improves their rate of accurate fire without the crushing blast and concussion common to most muzzle brakes."   "The BattleComp offers muzzle control like some of the best brakes on the market, with none of their liabilities."   "The BattleComp gives the end user excellent muzzle control WITHOUT the excessive concussion and crushing blast produced by most compensators on the market — with flash comparable to an A2 — and all in an A2-sized package."
12. I just wish Ruger would get it over with and buy them and use them as a semi-autonomous R&D division. It would save a lot time in reverse engineering on Ruger's part and then the KT products might actually make it to the shelves at the LGS.
13.
It amazes me how we hear similar stories all the time. That is, if you allow a local government the ability to regulate something, they just run with it. You would think that local governments would be most responsive to the people and easiest to change, but it's like they get elected and become petty dictators. Even when faces with how screwy one of their laws is, it seems to take way too long for them to change.
It shouldn't. Frederic Bastiat summed it up nearly 200 years ago.
14.
But, where blog man missed the boat, that's what it's supposed to do. I didn't buy it because the 223 was hurting my shoulder. I bought it to keep the muzzle on target. Didn't buy it as a flash hider either. Just calling BS are the article. You can't compare it to a Ben Cooley brake, because that ain't what it's supposed to be.
What blog boy did was address the claims of Battlecomp's maker in their advertising. BCE compared the BC to brakes, BCE compared the flash signature to the A2, etc. The BC most likely operates exactly as it was designed to, the problem is that the makers represent it as doing a whole lot more. That's where this article comes into play.
15.
I knew this video was fake...
The claims made in this video are specifically addressed by the article. As far as the one handed FA trick. Considering the muzzle climb that is a common result of FA fire, this trick is the one point where the Battlecomp will excel. It isn't aimed fire, but a fun little demonstration designed to wow folks.
16. http://vuurwapenblog.com/2014/01/20/the-battlecomp-is-bad-and-battlecomp-enterprises-should-feel-bad/ None of this surprises me in the least. I am happy I never ponied up the dough for one.
17. When the boot is on my neck, It makes no difference whether it is a left or a right boot.
18. I don't agree with everything MLK stood for, in fact, his economic ideas were downright ignorant and arguably pretty communist. That being said, this article from the Daily Kos (I know, I know, but trust me on this one) gives a great insight into what Dr. King's legacy really means to some folks.      http://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/08/29/1011562/-Most-of-you-have-no-idea-what-Martin-Luther-King-actually-did
19. Liked.
20.
Remember: "Evil exists because good men don't kill the gov. officials committing it" - Kurt Hoffman
I shouldn't be surprised that we apparently read some of the same people. ;)
21. It's Doug Stanhope, so there is foul language.
22. So with whom did they negotiate with for that access and to determine the appropriate level of compensation? Oh yeah the government, not me. Like I said, if they wish to be free from government regulation they need to be free from government largesse.   I'm sorry, I don't agree with the Kelo decision. Taking of property for the public good should not include the taking of property so that a private entity can use it to generate revenues. Just to be clear on a point again, could you refresh my memory on your position regarding the parking lot bills again? Weren't you supportive of the state regulating away the rights of a business to decide what their employees brought onto their property? :squint:
23. Like Robert, I don't like the government regulating private businesses. On that same token, if Comcast, AT&T or the power company wants access to run lines/pipes across my property they should have to negotiate with me directly for that access not with the government. If you want special privileges from the government then you have to accept that they come with strings attached.
24.
Did I say anything about forcibly removing anyone form anywhere? You owe your kids a chance. If you think you can give your children a good education at home and that’s what you want to do; do it. But if you are doing it just because you hate the government or want to whine about the school system; your kids deserve better than to be pawns in that.
My children deserve better than to spend 13 years being indoctrinated in how to always be subservient to authority in an environment that is analogous to prison. To answer the question you asked: Yes, you did. When you seek to declare homeschooling illegal, then those that would violate that law invite government intervention forcing the children to go to a school.
