1. I informed a couple of LE friends of mine about it in the last couple of weeks. Neither one had seen any information at all come through the official departmental channels. That was for MPD and SCSO. I found that more than a little bit unsettling to be honest.
 2. Cool! An invisible knife. I guess you could use it for an assassination or something since nobody would see it and know you had it.
 3.
I approve.
As do I. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
 4.
plus adding that target is owned by a French Corporation located in France.................jmho
Target was founded in Minneapolis, MN in 1902 and is still headquartered there. It is not, and never was owned by any French entity. There is a longstanding joke about Target being a French store and pronouncing the name as Tar-jhay. That has more to do with joking about Target being more upscale than Walmart when in reality they are both mass market, big box discount retailers. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
 5. Here's the thing, in reality, they did nothing at all. They did the exact same thing as Starbucks and Chipotle. They released a statement asking customers to leave their guns at home. The focus of which is directed at asshats like Open Carry Texas and others walking around with rifles. What is important to take note of is what they didn't do.(just like Starbucks and Chipotle) That is post their locations against carry. Moms Demand Action From Bloomberg gets to crow about a victory while normal folks will continue to go about their business and carry into Target like we always have before. Target gets to go about their business of selling stuff to folks who don't like going to Walmart instead of being used as a pawn by both sides of a debate they couldn't give a shit about. If we 2A folks really want to do ourselves a favor we would stop dragging innocent 3rd parties into it. This isn't a zero sum, with us or against us fight. Let MDAFB make asses of themselves instead of helping them accomplish their goals by being egotistical dickwads. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
 6.
I disagree with that sentiment. It is the same argument liberals use for gun control. They believe the mere ownership of a firearm will compel otherwise law abiding individuals to commit crimes with said weapon. I don't believe police are any more compelled to violate a person's civil rights simply because they have an aggressive tool to do so. There were dirty cops violating civil rights back when citizens were better armed than police, per capita and armor didn't exist.I understand what you're trying to say; that cops having a new toy are gonna be excited for an opportunity to use it. I'm sure that's true. I don't agree that driving an APC to serve a warrant as opposed to driving a golf cart violates any rights. Perhaps it makes them look scarier, but that is a policy issue that can be changed by the people if they engage the civilian leadership.Personally, I don't care if cops serve a warrant in chain mail on the back of a dragon. What matters is whether or not they violate a person's rights when the do it.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If we were talking about private individuals I would totally agree with you, but we are not. Now, if you remove qualified immunity from the equation entirely, I wouldn't care what LEAs equip themselves with to do the job as they would be on the hook not just collectively, but individually for what they did with it. That fact is that a SWAT team can drive their bearcat through someone's door at 3 am, shoot everyone and then when they find out that they raided the wrong house, the taxpayers get the bill for the settlement check to the next of kin. The officers don't go to jail for murder. They might get a couple of days of paid vacation and then the LEA releases a statement that while it was a tragic accident, "the officers acted within the guidelines of departmental policy." Then it is back to SOP and the next midnight raid/murder. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

 8.
Within the last several months, my agency's SWAT and Crisis Negotiators responded to a barricaded suspect where rounds had been fired. This was in a neighborhood. It would have been a Hostage Situation, but the wife escaped out the front door. Negotiations failed. I can tell you, when rounds started bouncing off the armored vehicle, the "armored" part was comforting. Also, without too much detail, the vehicle was instrumental in ending the situation without loss of life (ie, snipers were onscene and standing by as an option).
As one of the more ardent critics of the militarization of LE, let me say that I think this is a just and proper use for this equipment & SWAT. Most folks I know don't have any problem with this kind of situation. What we object to is when the MRAP/Bearcat/APC and SWAT are brought out on narcotics raids or to serve warrants. That's not a proper use as instead responding to an imminent danger to innocent life, it creates it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
 9. You sure about that? Hate to break it to you, but they have a high center of gravity and make a ford explorer with firestone tires look glued to the road with the ease in which they can rollover.
 10. I'm with you 100%. Honestly, I didn't even know (or care) that it was Ramadan. This thread just seemed like a great place to post a picture of my awesome lunch.  :yum:
 11. Yes. The costs involved can be prohibitive and are a great inhibitor against abuse. Because of the operational costs, LEAs have to have justifiable reason to use them. They generally don't drag them out on fishing expeditions.
 12. I don't watch, follow or care about sports. The only emotional response they engender in me is to hope UT and the Titans lose whenever they play. If that happens I smile and go about my day. So congrats, Vindy, vendy, whatever. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

 15.
Another truck driver? Who do you drive for?
That! For real. Who do you drive for photoguy?   Actually, it doesn't matter at this point. While I am curious, I have made a commitment to Prime. They have offered me a spot in their training program and I have accepted it.
 16.
Prime, btw, used to mostly haul refrigerated stuff, which for various reasons seem to require a lot of deliveries in the wee hours of the morning, so your Circadian sleep rhythm might take a beating if that's still the case and that's what you wind up doing. - OS
It will be. To my understanding, Prime does not run dry van. Reefers, flatbed and food grade tankers. I haven't decided whether to go reefer or flatbed. Though I have to have a tanker endorsement because of some of the bulk refrigerated liquids, they want you have at least a year in the seat before they will put you in the tanker division.
 17. Lunch today at The BBQ Shop.
 18. Illinois is a known special case along with a couple of other states (Mass?). TN will allow transfer of the CDL. The LW trucks that Prime use have about half the bunk space of a normal model of those trucks. There is zero room for a dorm style fridge in the bunk area. That's why folks have the passenger seat yanked to make the space useable. The trade off for that is a 5 cpm increase in pay.
 19. I will be using Qualcomm el-ogs. I will also be in either a Cascadia or Prostar lightweight truck. A lot of drivers have the passenger seat yanked and install a fridge in its place. I really dread the thought of packing on the pounds so I plan on shopping and doing my own cooking as much as possible.
 20. Thanks for all of the advice. I have done a lot of research and also have plenty of family in the industry so I am going in with fairly open eyes. It's gonna suck for a bit while I am paying dues. Short term sacrifices for long term gains is my mantra. As far as the permit goes, it occurred to me that I should just give Lisa Knight a call and ask her.
 21.
LMAO! Glad you have it made like that. Most people don't. I'm fortunate at my company that most of the people are of similar thinking and probably 60% or more have their HCP. Be a bad choice for someone to come in acting stupid. I hope Chucktshoes can get on out there with you after his Prime'ing. :)
I'm sure gonna keep this info filed for future use. While I want my time with Prime to be good, I know no matter how good it is it is going to suck missing the next year of my daughter's life. I am looking forward to getting into a job with lots of home time.
 22.
Like glowdotGlock, I'm also a truck driver. My uncle started with Prime. He stayed with them for 2 or 3 years, but recently quit. Yes, do NOT let them talk you into leasing or buying a truck through them. I warned my uncle about this, but he didn't take my advice. Now he's in the middle of a huge nightmare. DO NOT DO IT!
I already understand that from my research. There is a reason they are called Fleases.
 23.
And my boss allows carry. He and 1 other guy CC in the office. The owner is somewhat of a prepper. When I had my LEO ID I carried everywhere. Now I just carry to TN permit friendly states. I like to do short runs now. Every now and then I to a CA.
That sounds even better.
 24.
I used to deal with truckers at my old job, for whatever reason I thought Prime's deal was leasing or selling the driver the truck. I know you are looking forward to the work.
Prime does both company drivers and lease operators. I want to stay Company for a year or two to learn he job first. Being a L/O or O/O is setting up my own business. It would be wise to understand the business first.
