  1. The first post attack cover of Charlie Hebdo. Well done. Bravo.
  2. I utterly and completely despise that foul substance. Of course I don't eat tomato sandwiches either, so your hypothesis holds.
  3. Nope. That really was The Beard. And now this happened. Followed by this response from Travis Haley.
  4. So we should expect it to soon be endorsed by this guy? http://youtu.be/O3CxkhMVva4
  5. So to protect our rights, we must surrender them, eh? Riiight.
  6. Two things: First, great commentary on the response from the White House on the events. http://reason.com/blog/2015/01/07/the-white-house-on-charlie-hebdo-then-an Second: I don't think any explanation is needed.
  7. I don't really care about sports. Can't be bothered to follow them. But whenever I hear someone mention the Vols I ask if they won. "Nope, they lost." "Good."
  8. Gah! If I could count the times I've heard that nonsense.
  9. I think I see the source of the error. ;) I quickly learned that truckers are just as bad or worse than guns shop commandos about spewing forth complete and total nonsense pulled directly from the ass. I think some of us spend entirely too much time alone.
  10. That isn't without reason.
  11. This is still correct per the FMCSA. A lot of misinformation gets bandied about on this subject. Edited to add: as far as I can ascertain, TN holds to the FMCSA regs at the state level. Presumptive BAC for DUI = .04 in CMV and .08 in non-CMV.   Here is the TCA regarding BAC and driving.   Notice that in subsection 3 the requirement that for the .04 to apply the driver must be a CDL holder AND the vehicle is classed as a CMV. Like I said before, lots of misinformation is bandied about on this subject.
  12. All true. And none of that will change one whit unless the people of Maryland do something about it. Whether by making their desires known to their legislators (ha!) or through more direct and forceful means against those doing the violating. You and I sitting here in TN aren't going to do a thing to make a meaningful difference. So I choose to exercise right to make a good choice to stay the hell away from there.
  13. The state of Maryland disagrees. Since it is their state.....
  14. Yes, those sorts of things do happen, but the point is they happen very rarely. They don't happen anywhere near enough to justify the "I'm in a war zone" mentality that leads to far more deaths of citizens than cops. Sorry about your friend, but I would be questioning the policies that created the situation that got him killed. The point I was making that you seemed to miss is that I don't think my job is especially dangerous. (In fact, I think there is more danger to the folks in 4 wheelers around me than to me personally.) Yet according to the data, my job is twice as likely to result in a work related fatality. Combined with the fact that the majority officer deaths on the job are due to traffic accidents and not homicide and the reality of the situation is pretty clear. Policing in this country is not an especially dangerous job. Does it have dangers? Yeah. Plenty, but not more than many other jobs that folks don't consider to be especially dangerous in nature. One can pull anecdotes and emotional arguments out of their ass all day long but the data doesn't lie.
  15. Before anyone goes too far down the "cops in a war zone" nonsense, let's interject a little reality into things. Contrary to what LE like to portray, being a cop isn't an especially dangerous job. It doesn't even make the top 10 most dangerous jobs in this country. The majority of officers who do die on the job aren't killed by criminals but traffic accidents. They have more to worry from their own shitty driving than the citizenry they eye with suspicion. To put things in perspective, I'm a truck driver and I am fully twice as likely to die on the job as a cop.
  16. Internal emails from Sony showed they had no faith in this film. Maybe this was an excuse for them to declare it a total loss for insurance purposes. It may really be a real life "Springtime For Hitler".
  17. These murders are no more justifiable than the murder of Eric Garner and I shall condemn them the same. The only difference between the two cases is who is getting up in arms about them.
  18. If you know the source material, you understood Jax had to die before you watched the first episode.
  19. Latest update eliminated that. It automatically opens to feed now. No choice that I can find.
  20. It happens to me when it comes to the end of the displayed threads and then I scroll down and have it load more threads to view. What is really getting on my nerves is the new opening display and the "feed". I hate the feed. Most useless damn screen. I just want my list of forums so I can explore them individually, not see a feed screen with posts from all of them together. If I can' figure out how to turn it off, I may dump the software altogether.
  21. He is a private citizen going about his own business and therefore entitled to his privacy. He owes nothing to the government. The officer is on the public payroll and supposed to be going about the public's business. SCOTUS has already ruled that officers have no expectation of privacy under those conditions, hence why citizens have the right to film and record officers and struck down laws to the contrary.
  22. DC will have to be dragged kicking and screaming every single inch to allow carry in the District.
