Since we moved out into the sticks, we've learned the hard way that we can't mail or count on receiving important things like bills. Our mailman is a nice enough fellow, and our neighbor, but I don't know if it is him in specific or that post office location as a whole, I just know our mail service put here is super unreliable.

How is it I've heard it put before? "You might beat the charge, but you can't beat the ride."

Welcome to the wonderful world of gun laws in Tennessee. This vagueness is the reason I advised caution so strongly. It doesn't matter who tells you what now. You will be at the mercy of whatever government agent you come across out there in the wild. It's his interpretation and mood that's going to be the deciding factor of whether you get a "have a nice day" or a "you have the right to remain silent" or worse.

I love me a good Tommy Bahama but I don't get to wear mine much because I'm afraid of screwing them up messing with trailers.

As the resident anarchist who finds these laws unconscionable, let me provide a word of caution and advice. Any and all statements that lean towards you carrying being legal or allowed in these situations all depend on the most friendly and understanding of officers being the one you encounter. I'm of belief that any law that criminalizes any behavior that isn't a violation of the life, liberty, or property of another isn't just ill-advised, or illegitimate, but immoral and wholly unjust. So I choose to do as I wish without regard to the law. That said, I'm a grown man who understands the consequences if I encounter a cop who doesn't have the same views on liberty and freedom that I do. Thats a long winded way of saying that before you engage in any action or behavior you need to make sure that you are fully aware of the consequences of dealing with someone who doesn't agree with your conclusions that justify your behavior. The consequences in this case can be permanent and possibly fatal. These are big boy games with big boy rules. Make sure you understand the rules of the game before you decide to play.

My in laws have had the same king mattress set for 26 years. Both of them have had back issues over the last few years. We bought them a king size Purple mattress to replace their old one.

Bingo.

My magic requires a very light touch to open. In fact, if I press firmly on it it actually doesn't like to open and I can even stop the blade from opening all the way if I press too hard.

Mine was too at the time. They're an awesome knife, but I think the design (while totally cool) makes them prone to inadvertent pocket openings.

I concur that that your shipment was likely repackaged because it got wet on a conveyor belt and then blew open. Like at least half of Memphis, I worked in the FedEx hub at one time. Damaged and reboxed packages were fairly common. It's all about getting the package to its destination and let the shipper and receiver determine if there is a problem with the contents. Claims can be handled from there.

I did the same thing with my Magic. That wicked edge bites deep. It got replaced by my Strider for edc for that reason.

History of the right to carry in Tennessee
Chucktshoes replied to quickbiscuit's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
There is a point missing from this equation with regard to who was considered "law abiding" and allowed to carry by police without undue hassle. It speaks to the fundamental intent of bans on carry that appeared throughout the South during the Reconstruction era. An honest accounting of these laws is impossible to make if one doesn't also make note of the racist origins of them. Folks were generally considered law abiding if they were white. Persons of color were almost uniformly excluded from that category. It wasn't until after the laws began to be applied more uniformly that efforts were made to provide an avenue for legal carry. -
I'lol be perfectly honest, I don't know for sure.

This is where I am at. I ask the questions that I am legally required to (are you a resident, are you a prohibited person) and then I conduct the exchange and we go about our ways.

I thought something was different.

Dave's on point. TICS has a high rate of denial. Just need to file the appeal and possibly contact the court where your misdemeanor was adjudicated for records of its final dispensation. That is usually the piece of info that's missing and holding up the works. That thread Dave linked has all that info in detail.

Post the last firearm related thing you bought!

My Para FAL wasn't built by him, but it was worked over and refinished there. You have good reason to be excited. -
Paint my name blue. Payment sent.

Dave and Mike hit the both sides of the issue here. The NFA suppresses not just ease of acquisition but also the desire to even purchase suppressors in the first place. (The principle of that $200 stamp has kept me from buying.) That keeps the market small, prices high and the innovators out. How many John M. Brownings have been stopped over the last 8 decades or so because of the legal issues around being able to tinker in the garage? The removal of suppressors from the NFA will result in an explosion of demand, innovation and manufacturers.

Its format is also based on Studs Terkel's "The Good War" which is an oral history of WWII. Excellent stuff.

Correct. The book is actually good.

I see they went with the Betamax of rail attachment systems. Dollars to donuts the next iteration has M-Lok.
