  1. That looks real nice. I have an HSP WML and like their products overall.
  2. I'm a city kid. Never been hunting in my life. Just not part of my upbringing. Consequently, my intro to guns was in the military and then the tactical/EBR era. Well, I've been thinking about getting a bolt action rifle for a minute and @robtattoo's for sale thread on that custom 280AI was the catalyst for me to get off my duff and get to it. (I came very close to getting it, but that weirdo caliber scared me off.) So after a little research I bought myself a Montana Rifle Company ASR in 308. It's got the absolute best trigger I have ever felt. It doesn't feel like it moves. It just breaks at 3#. It's nuts. The bolt design of the Model 1999 is a mixture of the Model 70 and the Mauser. She's a beautiful piece of work. I'm getting a killer discount on the optic from a friend of mine, but it's going to take a few weeks for that to come in. It's going to get a Nightforce NSX 3.5-15x50 MILR. My intent is to build a rifle that will forever be able to exceed my abilities. Here is the link to image gallery.
  3. I'll start that thread, and I have to give a nod to robtattoo. It was his ad for that rifle in that oddball 280 AI that was the catalyst for my desire to go ahead get off my ass and pick up a hunting rifle. I really hope he is able to offload that rifle.
  4. #### her if she can't take a joke.
  5. I guess this is the point where I'm supposed to make a post detailing the hunting rig I'm asemblimg because I've decided that I wanted to start doing that, huh?
  6. Maybe, but it isn't like folks here couldn't use a bit of a break from the subject.
  7. For talking purposes, I am a fan of the Plantronics line, but their strength is in their mics. Their speakers are fair to middling. Skullcandy is garbage. Sony is hit or miss, and at that price range I would be skeptical. You are most likely to get the best sound from the Sennheisers. Bluetooth is a poor transmitter for media fidelity, but you're not going to find anything worth a damn for what sound quality you can achieve below $100.
  8. http://www.cnn.com/2017/05/18/politics/china-us-jets-intercept/ I hope the Chinese RIO took a nice Polaroid, and that this earns the crew a shot at Chinese Top Gun, where, after a game of beach volleyball, they discover that one of the female instructors has, in fact, lost that loving feeling.
  9. If you do visit the zoo, there is plenty of free parking in the streets and neighborhoods adjacent to the zoo with only a short walk to the entrance. Utilizing that will help you avoid the long line of cars trying to get into the zoo parking lot. In addition, it will help prevent you being directed to parking on the greensward. Which is part of the grassy "park" area of Overton Park. This is an issue as much contention within the city of Memphis. So if you go, please don't give the zoo five dollars to have them have you help ruin a very important and historical park. Also, while I am sure zoo management would much prefer you not to bring firearms on premises, they do not post in any way shape or form that can be considered legally enforceable. I used to carry with no issue when I held a zoo membership.
  10. Dave and I are in agreement on this. Read into that what you will. I really don't like how the new classifieds dual thread thing works. It's cluttered, confusing, and wholly unnecessary.
  11. You might be onto something there.
  12. Yes. That's exactly what they are saying. Local prices are going to be more inline with your original thoughts.
  13. Whelp, that's a wrap folks. Gander Mtn is liquidating and going out of business permanently. http://m.wmctv.com/wmctv/pm_/contentdetail.htm?contentguid=od:Iko7cNkQ
  14. Tell the truth, do you send pictures of yourself with your guns to people back home in Australia with the caption "Neener Neener!"?
  15. For those of y'all complimenting dude on keeping his cool, I think what really happened here got missed. I spent over a dozen years working with the public in customer service. That dude has just been in the service industry long enough to have beat down by it that he just didn't care if he got shot. That's what working with the public in the service sector does to you. He didn't have nerves of steel, he just had zero ####s.
  16. Oh, the boys at Negotiating Rights Away absolutely operate like that. There's too much money at risk otherwise.
  17. As another resident of a rural county that does not prohibit carry inside our single municipal building, only inside the courtroom, this bill is a huge step back for my wife and I. Awesome.
  18. And that rule was blocked by a federal judge, you know, judges and executive orders and all of that mess. So the law itself was changed and signed by Obama. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/03/19/AR2009031902801.html For a bonus round, guess which president created the rule change that banned carry a personal weapons in national parks? I'll give you a hint, we've already talked about it in this thread. I love steak. It's so tasty. Especially when it's made from sacred cows.
  19. Are you sure about that? https://www.nps.gov/grca/learn/management/upload/Firearms-in-IMRparks2-2010.pdf
  20. That was totally the same guy. But I'm not talking about all the bad stuff that we all know he did. I'm just here slaughtering sacred cows.
  21. Speaking of what presidents did or didn't do with regards to 2Arights, can someone remind me who opened up carrying of firearms in national parks and forests?
  22. As of the last time I was there, there were no signs prohibiting carry up at the zoo. That said, I have not been there in over a year since I decided that I could no longer support the zoo financially and canceled my membership due to their constant attempts of landgrab in Overton Park.
