  1. There are a lot, and I mean a lot, of formerly regular voices here that I miss seeing around. I'm hopeful that we can diversify the mix around these parts a bit once again.
  2. Especially so in Memphis where we like to accessorize the city with Egyptian related items since we are named after a city in Egypt.
  3. That's the new statue that they erected after the obelisk was blown down by Hurricane Elvis in 2003. They moved the repaired obelisk to a less prominent spot in the park. They also added a plaque to it that said "Erected in 1954" as a disclaimer as I think they were embarrassed a bit by its proclamation of Tom Lee as "A Very Worthy Negro."
  4. Unfortunately, I do not. With my job keeping me away from home so much, I just haven't had the time to learn how to do it.
  5. I couldn't tell you. It's been a few years since I've been down there.
  6. It toppled and shattered the obelisk honoring Tom Lee downtown in Tom Lee Park.
  7. That's my read of the situation as well. It makes me a little sad too because I had a meme for the political funnies thread that is sooooo good.
  8. That made me happy to see the Moz lay it down like that.
  9. These are good ideas. In addition, I think the section might need an additional moderator or two if it is brought back. I would say some high volume users who are on a lot as it would take heavy oversight. Maybe a couple of folks who are of opposing political ideologies so that they can work as a team to help provide balance and prevent the appearance of bias. Just typing that out really makes me feel for y'all as it sounds like more work than it is worth.
  10. There are certain cues in how he phrased the OP that says he doesn't do that anymore anyways. Speaking of which, Dude, how'd it go?
  11. I remember last time politics got too heated around these parts it was hidden from new content as the "Hive of scum and villainy" or something like that. That might not be a terrible option again to keep it from taking over the new content feed.
  12. Yes she is. The pictures don't do her justice.
  13. "Never half ass two things. Whole ass one thing." Ron Swanson I put a lot of research into my choices here. I also sought out the advice of a small group of friends of mine, some of whom live and hunt out west. I cant wait to find out how well she shoots as well. Unfortunately it's not gonna be for at least a month or more before I get the chance to break her in.
  14. That looks real nice. I have an HSP WML and like their products overall.
  15. I'm a city kid. Never been hunting in my life. Just not part of my upbringing. Consequently, my intro to guns was in the military and then the tactical/EBR era. Well, I've been thinking about getting a bolt action rifle for a minute and @robtattoo's for sale thread on that custom 280AI was the catalyst for me to get off my duff and get to it. (I came very close to getting it, but that weirdo caliber scared me off.) So after a little research I bought myself a Montana Rifle Company ASR in 308. It's got the absolute best trigger I have ever felt. It doesn't feel like it moves. It just breaks at 3#. It's nuts. The bolt design of the Model 1999 is a mixture of the Model 70 and the Mauser. She's a beautiful piece of work. I'm getting a killer discount on the optic from a friend of mine, but it's going to take a few weeks for that to come in. It's going to get a Nightforce NSX 3.5-15x50 MILR. My intent is to build a rifle that will forever be able to exceed my abilities. Here is the link to image gallery.
  16. I'll start that thread, and I have to give a nod to robtattoo. It was his ad for that rifle in that oddball 280 AI that was the catalyst for my desire to go ahead get off my ass and pick up a hunting rifle. I really hope he is able to offload that rifle.
  17. #### her if she can't take a joke.
  18. I guess this is the point where I'm supposed to make a post detailing the hunting rig I'm asemblimg because I've decided that I wanted to start doing that, huh?
  19. Maybe, but it isn't like folks here couldn't use a bit of a break from the subject.
  20. For talking purposes, I am a fan of the Plantronics line, but their strength is in their mics. Their speakers are fair to middling. Skullcandy is garbage. Sony is hit or miss, and at that price range I would be skeptical. You are most likely to get the best sound from the Sennheisers. Bluetooth is a poor transmitter for media fidelity, but you're not going to find anything worth a damn for what sound quality you can achieve below $100.
  21. http://www.cnn.com/2017/05/18/politics/china-us-jets-intercept/ I hope the Chinese RIO took a nice Polaroid, and that this earns the crew a shot at Chinese Top Gun, where, after a game of beach volleyball, they discover that one of the female instructors has, in fact, lost that loving feeling.
  22. If you do visit the zoo, there is plenty of free parking in the streets and neighborhoods adjacent to the zoo with only a short walk to the entrance. Utilizing that will help you avoid the long line of cars trying to get into the zoo parking lot. In addition, it will help prevent you being directed to parking on the greensward. Which is part of the grassy "park" area of Overton Park. This is an issue as much contention within the city of Memphis. So if you go, please don't give the zoo five dollars to have them have you help ruin a very important and historical park. Also, while I am sure zoo management would much prefer you not to bring firearms on premises, they do not post in any way shape or form that can be considered legally enforceable. I used to carry with no issue when I held a zoo membership.
  23. Dave and I are in agreement on this. Read into that what you will. I really don't like how the new classifieds dual thread thing works. It's cluttered, confusing, and wholly unnecessary.
