  1. This seems like an opportune time to unpack my earlier statement about there being a difference between supporting the law and order, and supporting law enforcement. When one supports law and order, they hold the law itself in high esteem. They believe that the law exists for the good of the people. This means that while they may have respect for those that enforce the law, the law itself is paramount. Therefore, they seek to hold the enforcers of the law to the highest standards of the law and have little tolerance for those that break not just the letter, but the spirit of the laws they have sworn to uphold. When one supports law enforcement, instead of the law itself being held in the highest esteem, it is those that enforce it who are elevated. This leads to situations where one holds greater tolerance for those that bend the laws, or violate the spirit of the law as long as they don't break the letter of it. It also causes one to seek to explain away or excuse instance where those who uphold the laws break them outright and/or engage in gross mistreatment of the people they are supposed to serve. Some folks may view this as an unfair distinction, but it isn't. Just as one can't serve two masters, one can't hold law enforcement and the law itself in equally high esteem when the actions of one may cause conflict with the other. A choice must always be made.* (*There is a third choice, but that is a rejection of both and is not really applicable to the conversation we are having which is predicated on the position that the law is legitimate in its authority.)
  2. Why would they be brought to full account for anything? After all, everything they did was "within policy guidelines."
  3. Piperton is a speed trap city. They have a much nicer City Hall then their residency tax base can actually support. I will give you three guesses how they paid for it. Your first two don't count.
  4. Not in the state of Tennessee. They are prohibited by statute from sanctioning you in anyway if you do not pay camera tickets. If you get one of those in the mail, throw the thing in the garbage. Or better yet, send it back with a note telling them to piss off and citing the statute.
  5. I agree with everything you said Dave, with the exception of the quoted lines. The current administration and its Justice Department are very pro law enforcement, not pro law and order. They are different things and it is very dangerous to confuse the two. I believe recent statements to law enforcement about not being overly concerned with how tough they're being with suspects lends credence to my position.
  6. Now, this is pure speculation on my part. Looks like some butt hurt over not having their authoritah respected. There is a word to describe what we are witnessing in this video, and it is torture. It doesn't matter what happened before what is shown on the video, every officer involved should be wearing cuffs.
  7. You're telling me! I have at least one instance where I am certain that having my firearm on me allowed me to avoid getting jacked. .
  8. I wouldn't sweat it. It is legal to have a loaded firearm in your vehicle with your TNHCP. I travel through IL all the time armed. It's no big deal.
  9. That rubicon has already been crossed and it is bad for everyone. As far as the threats to cops, they aren't nearly as imminent as certain factions like to portray. Policing in this country is actually a reasonably safe job. It doesn't even make the top 10 for on the job deaths (and over half of them are auto accidents). Even with the targeted ambushes of officers you have to go back many decades to find years with comparable raw numbers of officer deaths. When you take into account that there were far, far fewer police officers at that time, it makes the current rates that much lower.
  10. Let's not forget that were it not for the efforts of WREG, the department/DA would have never admitted to the screwup.
  11. Just because it starts there, doesn't mean it ends there. Think about the changes made to your TNDL in the last few years to bring it in line with federal RealID standards.
  12. And some duct tape to perform repairs in the field in case someone does hit the uprights.
  13. Grew up an AF brat and then went in myself after HS. After 22 months I received an honorable discharge and spent the next year working for AOL in Ogden, UT. I then decided to move back to where the family lived here in W. TN and spent a couple of years bouncing around IT and construction jobs before landing in retail and quickly working my way into management. Spent a dozen years doing that with the occasional bonus of getting to beat up shoplifters. Then my employer decided to reorganize its store level management structure and I was offered a buyout. I was ecstatic to take it. These days I drive truck OTR and can finally afford the type of toys I've drooled over when I was eking by in retail. I'm getting ready to buy my truck and take it semi-local as I look for the balance between work and family.
  14. It would help the citizenry, but it wouldn't be in the government's interest.
  15. http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2017/07/02/gemtech-sold-smith-wesson/ Massachusetts based firearms manufacturer Smith & Wessonhas purchased Idaho Silencer manufacturer GEMTECH. With details slim at the moment, there are obviously a lot of unanswered questions. However, the new GEMTECH headquarters building in Meridian, Idaho is still on schedule as well as all current product development and manufacturing capabilities.
  16. It is absolutely the best of the DC EU films out so far. The whole family loved it. Especially my daughter.
  17. You must be new around these parts.

  19. It really is the simplest (and I think) best option.
  20. Payment sent. Thanks again, I hate you.
