60 Minutes Piece on National Reciprocity
Chucktshoes replied to Garufa's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Yep just as I figured. Their problems with it aren’t my problems with it. Their problems are mainly drivel. -
Pakistan has become a textiles manufacturing powerhouse along with Vietnam. Chinese labor got too expensive to produce textile goods at a price that American consumers would pay. While I understand why one would experience discomfort at buying Pakistani made goods, trust me, it’s a good thing. Nothing has a moderating influence on the proliferation of extremist thought than a strong, comfortable middle class intent on maintaining their way of life.

No worries. Fixed. I’ll check out the segment, though I doubt they’ll have the same issues with it I do. -

That is really cool. -
Yep. At that point you would have just manufactured an SBR.

I’d concur. The reality is that the “folks like us” that many of y’all see as the majority in this country simply aren’t.

Considering today is the super bowl, it seems like an opportune time to bring this up. Do you let your kids play tackle football? If so, why? In the last few years the NFL has been having to deal with a lot of fallout from the increasing awareness of CTE and it’s relation to the concussions and repeated hits that are part and parcel of the game. It isn’t just NFL players being affected. The data is showing that the damage done to a developing brain by those hits may be just as, if not more damaging than the concussions on grown folks. There are initiatives under way by advocacy groups such as “flag until fourteen” which push to keep kids from playing tackle ball while preserving the other valuable aspects of football while kids’ brains are at their most vulnerable. This wasn’t a subject I thought much about until we had our twin boys, but since then I’ve thought about it a lot and I know that my boys won’t play tackle ball until at least high school. As an advocate of a free range childhood like many of us grew up with in the 80s and prior, I’m not some overprotective helicopter parent. However, I’m also not going to ignore mounting evidence of a clear and present danger either. If you’re a parent of boys, or even girls who want to play ball, do the research and at ensure you’re making an informed decision on the risks associated with the sport. Here are a few links to articles that are either op ed pieces by advocates of delaying tackle ball or articles detailing studies looking at the dangers of youth tackle ball http://www.esquire.com/sports/a12437805/youth-football-cte-concussion/ https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/opinion-archie-cte-football_us_5a6f87a2e4b00d0de222f3cc http://www.espn.com/espnw/voices/article/17493946/talking-kimberly-archie-mother-sued-pop-warner-football http://www.chicagotribune.com/lifestyles/health/sc-hlth-youth-football-players-head-injury-risk-1025-story.html http://abcnews.go.com/Health/children-play-football-hits-head-originally-thought-study/story?id=50519830

Ammo seller to Las Vegas killer arrested on federal charge
Chucktshoes replied to DaveTN's topic in General Chat
According to some of the stuff I’ve seen floating about, investigators believe that this was the dude’s original plan. -

Honestly, I’m willing to give the larger entity the benefit of the doubt and chalk this up to the poor decision making of the manager on duty. Almost all of these cases follow the same pattern. MoD screws the pooch, public outcry ensues, higher ups spend time retraining and fixing PR mess.

Appreciate it. Wasn’t trying to cast aspersions, my google searches were coming up empty.

Is there a link to a news story or primary source FB post (as in from the TWRA officer or Outback) addressing this issue? Not saying this didn’t happen (I know it has happened in the past at varying eateries), but it sounds like one of a million “I heard about my brother’s cousin’s sister’s husband said...”

Can I Carry A Gun In My Car?

While it may be true for the paler and more mature, it’s not true for everyone. -
Can I Carry A Gun In My Car?

The latter outcome is a distinct possibility with both. -
We are not free men, we are slaves. This fact was readily apparent to the more observant over a century and a half ago “A man is none the less a slave because he is allowed to choose a new master once in a term of years. Neither are a people any the less slaves because permitted periodically to choose new masters. What makes them slaves is the fact that they now are, and are always hereafter to be, in the hands of men whose power over them is, and always is to be, absolute and irresponsible. The right of absolute and irresponsible dominion is the right of property, and the right of property is the right of absolute, irresponsible dominion. The two are identical; the one necessarily implying the other. Neither can exist without the other. If, therefore, Congress have that absolute and irresponsible lawmaking power, which the Constitution — according to their interpretation of it — gives them, it can only be because they own us as property. If they own us as property, they are our masters, and their will is our law. If they do not own us as property, they are not our masters, and their will, as such, is of no authority over us. But these men who claim and exercise this absolute and irresponsible dominion over us, dare not be consistent, and claim either to be our masters, or to own us as property. They say they are only our servants, agents, attorneys, and representatives. But this declaration involves an absurdity, a contradiction. No man can be my servant, agent, attorney, or representative, and be, at the same time, uncontrollable by me, and irresponsible to me for his acts. It is of no importance that I appointed him, and put all power in his hands. If I made him uncontrollable by me, and irresponsible to me, he is no longer my servant, agent, attorney, or representative. If I gave him absolute, irresponsible power over my property, I gave him the property. If I gave him absolute, irresponsible power over myself, I made him my master, and gave myself to him as a slave. And it is of no importance whether I called him master or servant, agent or owner. The only question is, what power did I put into his hands? Was it an absolute and irresponsible one? or a limited and responsible one?” Lysander Spooner

Can I Carry A Gun In My Car?

This reality (and it’s accompanying dangers) are what I would consider the biggest risks associated with a person under 21 keeping a gun in the vehicle. -

My TGO model is the one that most often resides in my pocket. Shape, balance, feel, it has it all in spades. It’s damn near the perfect knife. -
Well, crap. Was waiting to get paid to order and of course it goes TU.
