  1. Once you look past the fear mongering of the author, you can get a better idea of what’s being accomplished here and how big of a game changer it has the possibility of being not just in the US, but worldwide https://www.wired.com/story/a-landmark-legal-shift-opens-pandoras-box-for-diy-guns/
  2. On the subject of Snow Mexicans crossing the border.
  3. Nope.
  4. No, that’s about it. Mine spends as much time off as it does on.
  5. You got to watch out for those Snow Mexicans, they’re a crafty bunch of hosers, eh.
  6. She’s purdy, that’s for sure.
  7. Buddy of mine bought the 40th anniversary model they put out earlier this year. Loves it. It’s a great boat at a helluva price.
  8. I always liked it for tracers and incendiary rounds.
  9. As promised, the first video where @56FordGuy and I take a look at and go over plans for the Scout.
  10. Mea culpa and all that, I didn’t realize that it had already been done for Gorsuch. My bad.
  11. If it is held up, I fully expect the GOP to invoke Harry Reid and exercise the nuclear option.
  12. They’re good looking pickups. It’s a shame that International/Navistar went to hell. They used to make some great stuff.
  13. Updates will come, but they will be slow. I may have a Scout, but a big pile of money I don’t.
  14. Snark gets snarknin return, but a serious post gets serious treatment. I will reiterate encouragement to listen to the podcast with an open and empathetic mind. It will give the context to the conversation in this thread that you are missing.
  15. If you’re just going to stand to the side and make snarky comments, at least put a little effort into it. That was a very low energy attempt.
  16. Yeah, that is a bit of a known problem.
  17. If any of y’all haven’t taken the time to listen to this excellent episode of the podcast, I’m bumping this thread up to highly encourage you to do so. When you do so, set aside your defenses and listen with an open mind. Sometimes when we hear a criticism of something or someone we like, we can throw up our mental walls and not really hear what the other person is saying. In this podcast Tiffany and Aqil gave us the opportunity to understand that while some of the NRA’s messaging may be speaking to us, it may not be speaking to the best parts of us. In addition, what it might be telling folks who come from a different background is that they’re not welcome. If you don’t think that’s not the message being sent, I implore you to pay special attention to the part of the discussion where the discussion turns to the Dana Loesch “clenched fist” ad. Don’t listen with a mind to develop a rebuttal, but a mind to put yourself in the shoes of another and see things from their perspective. See that it isn’t an attack. See that this is an opportunity. Its an opportunity to ask those who are already here despite being told they aren’t welcome how we can tailor our message to bring more folks into the fold. It’s an opportunity to learn how to walk the walk of the 2A is for everybody instead of just saying it while our firmly keeping a dog whistle in our clenched fist.
  18. Like I said, I like them, I use them and I will almost certainly install them. It’s just the existence of the law itself that engenders the urge to take the less smart route me do without.
  19. Thanks, y’all. Now this won’t be a “showroom ready” restoration nor will it be a Pirate4x4 style crazy project. The Scouts were small but formidable farm trucks, and when she’s done she’s still gonna be that. If I just want to tool around town in my cool looking OG SUV or head down to Lowe’s and get stuff for a project, she’ll handle that. If I want to load her up with a bunch of crap and drive out to the mountain west to go hunt elk, she’ll be down for that as well. *On a side note, here is a moment for me to talk about how much I hate seatbelt laws. I like seatbelts. I think they are a great safety device. I always use them and I probably should install them in the Scout, but she didn’t come with them originally and this gives me a chance to give the bird to the .gov by running around without them legally. The stupidity of the law may well prevent me from choosing the safer option.
  20. Sooo, @56FordGuy found a 1965 IH Scout 80 that has spent the last 15 years sitting in a rancher’s field up in Wy-gnome-ing. Well, I bought the damn thing. We are in the planning stages right now for what direction the restoration will go, but he will be documenting its progress on his YouTube channel. (I’ll post a link once the first video goes up.) I’m really excited as I have loved the Scout and wanted one for years. Folks love to go on about the early Bronco, but the Scout came first. Here she is as she sits today.
