  1. You missed what was actually being done just as completely as the libs you love to rail against.
  2. I don’t give a damn what politicians on either side of the aisle think about the subject. My interest in it is much larger than their petty squabbles. I’m also not convinced that the attempts by the government to squash the work of DD and others like them, nor the settlement, was partisan in nature. This technology has the potential to be very dangerous to those who seek to hold power over others, regardless of their geographic location or political views Mike, you’re so fixated on partisan hackery. There’s a lot more going on than Democrats vs Republicans.
  3. That is true, but like any new technology, it is advancing rapidly and market forces will bring the price down substantially and fairly quickly. Look at the price of any PC now and compare it to prices for comparably situated systems 5, 10, and 20 years ago. Massive price differences. I bought my first PC in 1997 and a low end system ran me almost $2k. A low end laptop is all of $300 now 3D printing is about a lot more than just guns, and the ability to manufacture a firearm yourself is about a lot more than just 3D printing Now, as far as the difference between the two examples you listed, I can say that it takes much less physical skill with tools to use a 3D printer. My skillset would probably prevent me from producing a useable firearm from an 80% lower. I also most likely couldn’t produce a functional firearm if I had to create the CAD file myself. But I could if all I had to do was download the file that someone else created and fed it into the computer and let the printer do it’s thing. The tech isn’t quite there yet, but it will be much faster if the government is kept out of the way.
  4. Not all 3d printing is plastic.
  5. Keep that mess on your side of the state. Thank you very much.
  6. Yeah, I don’t really care about this idiot, but I can’t stand Sasha Baron Cohen.
  7. You’re missing out. Fat is flavor.
  8. Depending on the neighborhood one lives in....
  9. I miss being able to shoot in the backyard. It definitely put a crimp on how much I shoot when I lost that ability.
  10. Me too. Meeee toooo.
  11. Love it. Not quite. Sushi means with rice. Sashimi is just the meat by itself.
  12. This is my standard answer to that question. The meat will live or die on its own merits.
  13. I have a October vacation and new ring for the wife as a priority but @Capbyrd lucked up on a set of axles from a Scout II for a great price. So I’ve purchased axles for the Scout now. Can’t wait until I can really start on her in earnest.
  14. My job and demands on my time when I am home make it hard to get out to go shooting. That in turn decreases the amount of buying/selling/trading I might do. Basically it’s forced me to be super selective in my firearms related focus because I’ve got so little time for it I have to make it count.
  15. The healthcare market has been severely distorted by the dual controlling interests and government regulation. Right now there are very few actual healthcare consumers. There are a lot of healthcare users, but no consumers. The user has been divorced from the payer in the market. This creates an excessive demand on providers and no reason to acts as competitors and striving to increase service while decreasing prices. It’s not so much a marketplace as a model for wealth extraction. If you want to bring health back to the healthcare market, you have to make users into consumers.
  16. I don’t believe he works in the procurement office.
  17. Cast my first vote for Clinton’s second term (really regret that one) then Gore, Kerry, and McCain. Haven’t voted since and won’t. I’ve not just given up on the whole endeavor, I’ve become convinced of its utter wrongness. At this point I just practice up on my figurative fiddle playing while I keep a nose out for the smell of smoke.
  18. Nope and I don’t need too. All I need to know is that it’s on the opposite side of the state from me.
