That’s the rub. The letter of the law does not match up to this decision. That’s why they were approved in the first place. But this is America where nothing makes sense and words don’t mean anything.

I fervently hope that no jurisdictions attempt any door-knocks based on sales records. While I’m not in any way suggesting that bump stocks will lead to some mass insurerction, I guarantee that door-knocks over them will absolutely lead to dead cops and civilians. Nobody wants that.

The quite common practice of using traffic enforcement as a means of backdoor taxation is one of my biggest beefs with modern policing. It has naught to do with public safety and everything to do with revenue generation. Using police in this manner effectively turns them into the highwayman of yore holding up motorists at gunpoint telling them to stand and deliver their money or their lives. It’s disgusting.

Ohhhhh...my brain is illegal for far more disturbing reasons than simply knowing how to turn an AR into a machine gun with a coat hanger. But this is a family site, so we won’t discuss that here.

What about a Springfield Loaded? I think it checks all the boxes while avoiding some of the less necessary ones like adjustable sights*. Plus, even though it’s going to be a range gun, it’ll more than serve as a carry gun if the OP gets the hankering. Also, I think they are a rare thing in that they are correctly priced for the features they offer instead of being vastly overpriced like a lot of mid to upper-mid range 1911s. *I just reread the OP, and had forgotten the adjustable sights were a requested option. The Springer RO is totally the gun that fits the bill.

I’ve got some very good news for you. As long as you’re buying outside of the city limits and you can set up a safe direction for a range, you’re pretty much golden. Lucky for us, and you, this state isn’t run by massholes who like to overregulate everything and everybody. Set up your home range in a safe and reasonable manner, like not having your neighbor’s house being your backstop’s backstop, and as long as you’re respectful of your neighbors, you shouldn’t have any trouble whatsoever. I believe this to be quite accurate. A corner stone of stability in western civilization is the nuclear family models. This is why the natural outcome of the Great Society programs that pushed fathers out of the homes is what you have in urban neighborhoods where gang violence is the norm and in excess of 70% of children born out of wedlock. Patriarchal monogamy was one of the primary drivers that led to the ascent of western civilization, and the very successful attacks on it over the last half century are a primary reason we are in decline.
