  1. I have a great fondness for expensive guns and expensive glass. At the end of the day, they won’t do any better in my hands than any budget rifle and optic bundle from Walmart. Modern manufacturing techniques have made mass produced budget guns the equal of the custom guns from the days of yore. The high level guns require a high level shooter to see the differences they bring to the table on target. I’m not a high level shooter, and I don’t have the time available to become one, but I do love my fancy guns. I’m so fancy, you already know...
  2. There is a reason that folks have long maintained that it’s a poor choice to make enemies with a man who keeps pigs.
  3. I bet they have a lot in common. They both seem to like screwing over gun owners.
  4. Personally I’d like to see him promoted to member.
  5. 6.5 Cr
  6. Give the NRA membership the high hard one.
  7. WLP got a 57% raise in 2018.
  8. What Greg said. UT Knox is a good school, but it’s not an exclusive one. If she wants to attend, they’ll be glad to wrap her in that god awful ugly ass shade of orange.
  9. There’s a lot about this whole thing that doesn’t make sense.
  10. The reason it was called a red flag matter is that the initial reports I saw, including screen caps of some of his texts was that the matter was initiated after a report from a third party. The DV angle didn’t show up until after everything was wrapped up. I will be honest, I have doubts about the DV story simply because where in this country does a DV report NOT end up with someone having to be arrested?
  11. http://westchester.news12.com/story/41364321/police-putnam-county-standoff-ends-peacefully-after-7-hour-standoff Thankfully it seems to have come to a peaceful ending. I’m hoping some of the stuff I’ve seen regarding why went down is incorrect. I will be updating as the facts shake out and a clearer picture of what went down comes out.
  12. Apparently police in NY state were involved in a standoff with a combat vet over a Red Flag matter. Reports are LE responded to a RF report and info that he had standard capacity mags. It was alleged that LE threatened his wife with involving CPS to gain access to the home. He used Instagram to send updates out and word is that folks mobilized and showed up to support him and observe police. It may be over now, not sure. I am thin on verified details right now, but will update as I get them. Any and all info in the first paragraph may be corrected later as verified information rolls in.
  13. GMW is my go to spot for ordering mags. They generally have mags in stock and at reasonable prices.
  14. I really think Ruger erred when they discontinued the SR series. They are really good pistols.
  15. There’s a reason for that. Get the Mec-Gar mags. They will actually work. The ProMag....maybe, maybe not with a hard lean towards not.
  16. I agree that it’s something like that. Folks like Vortex have taken over the market segment that Nikon existed in. I don’t know any folks who think of Nikon first when it comes to a rifle optic.
  17. One of our intrepid readers who’s in the retail end of the gun business told us of notification he received from one of his distributors. They were letting him know that Nikon will be exiting the rifle scope business and that once current inventory is gone, it’s gone. TTAG spoke to Nikon’s advertising agency who confirmed the news. We’re told that this is a business decision Nikon has made based on their position in the highly competitive optics market. 18. No, but they are the biggest.
  19. Like handguns in .40S&W?
  20. I would imagine not.
  21. I would say to appeal to the widest possible group of buyers?
  22. Much like the general politics board, intentional or not, that’s a self inflicted wound and TGO maintains no liability from any hurt feelings or other personal injuries attained by your actions.
  23. That article is from 2013. It makes the rounds every now and again, but is always good for a laugh.
  24. From what I’m reading here, I have to say get the 6.5Cr. You won’t be happy with anything else. Get a Savage Axis II and replace the optic on it with a better quality one and you’ll be set. Don’t believe the hype that it’s just for punching holes in paper a long way about. I have a friend that uses his to take deer from near to far. One day he used his (suppressed) Bergara in 6.5 to take 4 does for the freezer. Two of them were in the same group at over 430 yards (landowner tags on private land in MO). It’s a more than capable round for any of the North American deer family.
  25. I’ve got both .308 and 6.5 Cr rifles. They’re both great. Neither one is a wrong choice. I think you’ll be happy with whatever direction you go. What will make the biggest impact here will be your choice of glass.
