Spent a dozen years in retail/retail management. Just shy of 10 years ago I said screw that and started driving truck. I was making as much in driver training as I did as a Walgreens manager. It was an excellent choice. That said, you’re either built for this job or you ain’t.

Tips for lapping a 1911 slide to frame?
Chucktshoes replied to Paulie771's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
As true, as that may be, a ruined gun is more expensive. You’re a lot better off, breaking it in the old-fashioned way and from there determining if there’s even a need to lap the slide. Material only comes off, it doesn’t go back on. So what gets done cannot be undone. -
The voyager line is simply a straight commercial release, built for a more streamlined production instead of owning any particular military pattern. It’ll be fine. Recommendation I would make is to ensure that you source some surplus magazines. The polymer DSA mags do not have a good reputation.

Interesting article about the NRA court case
Chucktshoes replied to Darrell's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
The political motivations behind this case in the investigations that proceed it are completely transparent, and without any doubt. It is entirely reasonable to be concerned about that. At the same time, the investigation would’ve been without merit, and no case would have been able to have been brought were it not for the actions of WLP and his cronies. Their actions more than anything else have placed the NRA in the position it is currently in. Regardless of why it was discovered, the corruption cannot be overlooked or excused in anyway. It must be rooted out completely. Only then can the NRA be rebuilt into any sort of functional organization of merit again. it would be better for the NRA to cease to exist, then to continue in its current corrupt form. -
I don’t know if he owns land in TN, but I can state definitively that it does occur in TN. We’ve discussed court decisions here of national notoriety in TN regarding open fields doctrine and its abuse.

In case anybody has any concerns about the future of the company going forward, has no fear. Gaston has sons and grandsons, and they all look and act exactly like him.

The wife and I refuse to have any “smart” devices in the house aside from our phones. So smart tvs are not something we desire. We’re gonna ride out our 40” Vizio until it dies. The buy used if we can’t find a new dumb tv.

Exactly this. Folks want the courts to come in instantly and be super-legislators and fix everything to the way they think it should be. Thats not how they work, and thankfully so.

Come on now! Insinuating that anybody would watch that reality TV dreck is a borderline personal attack.
-
The sad part is that this looks like it could be a really good movie and before the current era we wouldn’t have been concerned about whatever political agenda they’re likely to ham-fistedly beat us over the head with it.

ISO Refinisher in Middle Tennessee.
Chucktshoes replied to JSinTN's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I strongly recommend venturing a little outside of your declared area and check out John at https://www.oldsouthrestoration.com/ inside of Cypress Creek Outdoors in Dyersburg, TN. It may be a little bit of a drive for you but I know he can give you about as close of a recreation of the original finish as is possible. -
As someone who has spent a lot of time all over this country and especially in CA, I wonder if they realize how geographically small the area of CA is that contains all the left wing nutters? With sufficient planning, they could be isolated and neutralized reasonably quickly.

Due to outside financial pressures I’m sadly offering up my treasured NODs for sale. AB Nightvision RNVGs Elbit XLSH tubes FOM 2368/2282 SNR 32.9/31.7 spec sheets available for inspection approximately ~40hrs usage on the tubes Wilcox G24 Mount (this is a $500+ accessory by itself.) Extras: Nocorium multicam vinyl wraps Lighthawk Tactical NODS Garage soft case designed to fit inside of helmet Day filters & lens protectors $6000 (through tube images are hard to take with the phone, they’re excellent when you look through them) I live in Jackson, but am willing to make arrangements to meet up. It’s here first, but will be cross-posted after Christmas.

Almost everyone I know or have heard that put real time and effort into shooting pistol dots say it made them a better shooter with irons.

I’ve got a Holosun on my carry guns. 1) sight is always on 2)change out batteries once a year. They have a side loading tray so they’re easy to change and do not require a removal/re-zero. 3) most holsters are cut to accommodate optics by default at this point, and the rest invariably have it labeled for use with/without optics.

6.5 Creedmoor rechambered to 6.5 PRC
Chucktshoes replied to mills213's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
You should be able to, and I've found some conversations on the net that seem to say you can. That said, I'd honestly have this discussion with your gunsmith and let them measure everything out and make the call as to any concerns that may exist after the job is done. -
Anyone here used a CZ Redhead Premiere shotgun long term?
Chucktshoes replied to eRay's topic in Long Guns
That's been my general rule of thumb as well. But folks sure do buy the hell out of those Retay Shotguns at prices much higher than I normally see the Turkish guns sell for. -

I just recently had this very same conversation. It's 100% a fact too.
