Moving to TN and have some questions
Chucktshoes replied to muddyix's topic in New Member Introductions
Yes and no in that order. If the guns are legal federally, they are legal here and the government of TN doesn’t have any interest in what guns you own. Welcome and have fun! -

If it were to go to court, you could claim anything you wanted to, buT that doesn’t mean a judge or jury would buy it. As long as a firearm is physically present, there really isn’t any way to remove it from the situation other than removing yourself from the premises. I would highly recommend ceasing to speak about it on the internet. Also, if arrested or served with a summons about the incident, retaining the services of the best lawyer you and any relatives willing to chip in can afford would be the best thing you can do. Remember, we don’t have a justice system. We have a legal system that allows you all the justice you can afford.

1000% @Machunk714, let me offer you the best advice I can. Let it go. Whatever money, time or emotion has been spent dealing with the other parties involved is lost. There’s no getting it back and you will only waste more of your life attempting to accomplish whatever it is that you are seeking here. You made a very unwise move openly wearing a gun into a tense domestic environment. If it only cost you $200 to extricate yourself from it, consider yourself Lucky and that $200 money well spent. Just walk away and try and learn a few lessons here about how to spot bad situations and avoid them. There is no winning here other than moving on with your life. Just let it go, bud. Let it go.

Tim at MAC had a lot of problems with his. I know he’s not alone in that. Taurus did a much better job with their TX-22, and it carries 6 more rounds per mag. .22 not withstanding, it’s not a gun I would even consider for self defense. I would only get it if I was married to the Glock platform and wanted a tool for failure drills.

For the record, those of y’all who are expressing your discomfort and dislike of Constitutional carry sound real familiar. Y’all should go back and read the news articles from around the time when Tennessee was first pondering its shall issue handgun carry statute. You sound just like the “streets will run red with blood” anti-gunners from then. Hell, if that’s too far back for you then why don’t you check the threads on this very board from when the laws were being changed to allow carry in restaurants that serve alcohol. It’s always the same argument every time. It’s also the same results every time. Nothing bad at all happens. Nobody ever really thinks the law is necessary for themselves. It’s always to protect them from those other idiots who aren’t responsible. That argument motivated by simple fear of other people is the same argument anti-gunners use against us when they seek to ban assault weapons or whatever else it is they’re after.

While I vehemently disagree with Tom’s view, we’ve had a few of our own express the same view. To me that is a much more egregious offense. They should know better.

The courts have ruled that in a state where the open carrying of a firearm is a legal activity, it does not provide sufficient PC for a Terry stop. So, if TN passes Con Carry, police will no longer be allowed to use that as a reason to initiate a stop, or at least cannot detain or compel a citizen to interact with them because of the firearm. There’s no RAS of a crime because unlike now, carrying a firearm won’t be a crime.

https://ammo.com/articles/waco-siege-branch-davidian-compound-standoff-atf-raid-us-federal-government In related news, the FBI and the DOJ lied. A lot. In case anybody ever wondered where my general feeling of antipathy towards the federal government comes from, look no further than Waco and Ruby Ridge. These events showed teenage me what the federal government was really about. You will bend the knee, or they will burn you and your whole family alive.

Unless changes are made to the permit itself, this will not affect reciprocity with other states. Constitutional carry doesn’t affect what happens when you’re in another state. A constitutional carry statue will only address the need for a permit when you were in the state of Tennessee. Your permit and the other states willingness to accept that permit is where reciprocity lies.

She was the deputy DA under and protege of Bill Gibbons. You might want to take that into account before you start taking guesses. Y’all need to stop letting that R next to somebody’s name fool you into believing that they are a freedom loving believer in individual rights. It ain’t the case most of the time. For the most part it doesn’t matter what letter is next to somebody’s name. Those folks in Memphis, Nashville, and Washington DC believe that they know better than you do how to run your life. Amy Weirich is a Republican, but that doesn’t mean she believes in or supports your individual rights. At least not without a government permission slip.

That’s not her schtick at all. She’s actually a pretty hard nosed prosecutor that a lot of you law & order folks would like on any other day. But what she really is more than that, is a hard line statist. She has way more faith in government bureaucrats like herself running people’s lives than respecting their liberty to run their own lives as they see fit.

I received an email from the NRA – ILA claiming credit in leading the way for this bill. For some reason I have strong doubts to the veracity of that claim. There’s is a reason why I am a member of the TFA and not the NRA. If this bill is a good one, I will be putting in personal appearances at the offices of my state legislators. Considering I’m only home for a few days a month at maximum, that is a serious commitment of time for me and sacrifice by my family. I will also be contacting my county sheriff to encourage him to vocally support this measure. I already have a lifetime permit so this will affect me in no way. That said, if this bill is a good one, it will be a huge step to finally get the state of Tennessee to recognize the citizens’ individual right of self-defense. If I want the government to recognize my rights without voting from the rooftops, then my slacktivism must end now. Alternately cheering and bitching on the internet doesn’t seem to do a whole lot. It’s time for me to put some legwork into it.

Is TN Enhanced permit transferable to NC?
Chucktshoes replied to subsonic's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I believe it’s in reference to LEO/feds that live in state and wish to acquire a state carry permit. It doesn’t prevent them from carrying on creds, just doesn’t give them a head start for a state permit. I know TN exempts them from having to go through the hoops. NC doesn’t. -

My lifetime permit is a definite anchor for keeping me in state. -
Is TN Enhanced permit transferable to NC?
Chucktshoes replied to subsonic's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
TN doesn’t determine whether or not NC will accept the permit for transfer, NC does. The issuing authority in NC is the county sheriff of residence therefore the sheriff you spoke to is the final authority on the matter. -
