  1. I was initially on the “what’s the big deal” train like you. The more I read and the more I listened to folks that actually have years of background in the field of communicable disease and virology, the better my understanding became. Most of the other communicable diseases you’re comparing COVID-19 to are either low morbidity and moderate communicability, or low communicability and moderate morbidly. COVID-19 has a moderate morbidity and moderate (moving into high the more we learn) communicability. That a whole new ballgame by orders of magnitude. All of the other similar illnesses out there combined aren’t sending enough folks to the hospital to outstrip available resources like respirators and oxygen machines like this one is. For example, folks with diabetes generally have a lower immune system strength making them high risk for severe symptoms. Way more than they normally would with normal flu. So this is a big deal. I do agree there’s a lot of media induced panic going on, but it’s not all in everyone’s heads. It is a serious event and folks do need to take the advice of the folks at the CDC and WHO regarding reducing transmission. It isn’t just about us individually not getting sick, it’s also our moral responsibility to do what we can to not get others sick. Others who might not survive it like those of us that are younger or healthier might.
  2. Unless we go on some sort of full lockdown, I would actually expect most stuff to be open and thankful for the business.
  3. I’m hauling a reefer trailer so I’m generally hauling stuff to refill that meat counter or the pharmacy.
  4. We’re (truck drivers) still out and about on the road, the stores are still getting restocked. So no need to sweat it too much right now.
  5. The folks over at TFBtv just put out a video about the VEPR-12. Seems like it might be a better way to go if you’re getting into the game for that now.
  6. Not 1700, 17000.
  7. I did find something that gave me hope that it wasn’t that bad yet. In the middle of all this madness of people buying thousands of paper rolls "just in case", some people keep making right and wise decisions.
  8. Thankfully, prosecutors did the right thing and dropped the case. It seems that there were some gotcha style issues with his permits, not surprising considering it’s New Jersey. I have to believe that the public notoriety and pressure went a long way towards attaining the outcome. https://www.newsweek.com/roosevelt-twyne-new-jersey-gun-laws-1491859
  9. I really wish for once he could have admitted that he’s not the smartest guy in the room and deferred to those best equipped to handle this. What really kills me is that there was a golden opportunity to not only do good, but reinforce his goals of moving industry back to the US under the auspices of national security and general public welfare. If he could have come out with an honest “this is gonna suck for a while, but we will listen to the experts like Dr. Fauci and get through this together as Americans” and then pivoted to bringing back supply chains for things like pharmaceutical production back to the US as a national security necessity, he would have greatly helped the nation and also mitigated fallout from the economic downturn caused by COVID-19.
  10. I’ve pretty much come to the conclusion that I WILL get COVID-19. With my job it’s a forgone conclusion at this point.
  11. Zach Bryan dropped this on YouTube today. This kid can write a a helluva song. Right now his music career consists of him recording these songs live and dropping them on YouTube. He’s actually active duty Navy still and music isn’t a full time gig for him yet. I strongly suspect that one of these days he’s going to be a very big deal.
  12. I believe it is supposed to be a “then and now” of Finnish soldiers.

  14. Bust Out Another Thousand
  15. I think that’s a question only you can answer. What would you get more enjoyment out of? Boats and guns do seem to share one similarity in that neither gets used as much as folks think they will when they get them and tend to spend a lot of time gathering dust.
  16. This bill as written I think will pretty much guarantee an increase in officer contacts with citizens.
  17. I’m coming to the same conclusion. It leaves intact the baseline that carrying a gun is a crime and only creates a narrow defense to prosecution. This is a bad bill. I can support incremental steps, but I’m now very unsure if this is an actual improvement.
