  1. For something that appears to be designed and made in the USA, $299 isn't bad. It's a far cry from a $1600 50BMG 20 round drum mag.
  2. The world has changed a lot since the 1950s. That world no longer exists and while people continue to cling to the past, it's exactly that; in the past. The US population has more than doubled since then so there will naturally more competition just by headcount alone. All of this comes back to minimum wage for minimum skill. Despite what a lot of people say, this is still the land of opportunity. Ask any first generation legal immigrant. When they started, they'd take any job, likely minimum wage or less, but many of them took any opportunity to improve their situation financially. They never been worried about minimum wage because they are focused on working upwards, not sitting on their asses begging for the government to force their employer to give them a raise. AI is only disrupting these minimum wage jobs for the near term. Between that and the kiosks setup for video conferencing overseas outsourced labor, that $15/hr isn't all helpful when you've priced yourself out of the market and out of a job.
  3. That's what they want you to think. It's nowhere near as advanced as it's presented to the general public. Also, it's not AI, it's really fast machine learning.
  4. Both of you homed in on "minimum wage" but completely ignored the "increasing" part. Federal minimum wage has been $7.25/hr for 15 years and that seems adequate to prevent "slave" labor. Prior to that, there have been very safe incremental increases over time that had no significant effect on the economy at large as the market tends to self-correct. All's well there. The problem is states deciding to make humongous jumps in their minimum wages for no other reason than to buy votes from their low to no skill constituents then, once in effect, everyone collectively starts crying over how cost of living shoots up. Did they earn this pay increase by improving their skills or doing a better job? No. They got raises because daddy government promised them more money for doing the exact same thing they've been doing; the minimum. If they can buy votes with minimum wage increases, what's to stop them from buying votes with UBI? It's a slippery slope. I mean all the illegals getting debit cards, housing, etc is basically a test phase UBI. Take a wild guess who they'll be voting for.
  5. Increasing minimum wage is UBI with more steps. Change my mind.
  6. "new guts" is pretty vague. would need a detailed list of the work and parts added to know what value is actually there. sounds like some smoke blowing.

  11. @NoBanStan You could say the same thing about 1911s, revolvers, and plenty other various pistols. Doesn't appear to be an issue unique to 2011s.
  12. Damn y'all are getting screwed paying $40+ for transfers. My local guy charges $20 no matter how many pieces you are getting transferred on a single 4473.
  13. My lifetime EHCP should be in the mail any day now. Training class reminded me of others that I've taken in the past but there was plenty of new information, TN specific and universal, that was good to brush up on. Even if laws aren't changing, how they are interpreted and enforced does change regularly so getting a current understanding of that was valuable. Even though it's not a requirement, I would consider taking a similar class again in 5-8 years simply to get up-to-date. The classes are cheaper than lawyer time and you get some range time along with getting learnt real good. You can get the 8 year permit for $100, training was $80 so for the cost of a Hi-Point you too could save yourself some grief later if you plan to EDC.
  14. @RED333 I'm guessing that's a no, then.
