  3. Selling this sporterized German K98 Mauser chambered in 7.92X57 (8mm Mauser). Rifle is import marked on the right side of the barrel near the muzzle. This rifle is a Yugo Capture. The Yugoslavians captured many German Mausers at the end of WWII. One undesirable thing the Yugoslavians did was to scrub all the German markings. One good thing the Yugoslavians did was to re-barrel the K98s with new barrels. I bought this rifle about 20 years ago with the intent to recreate the K98 Sporter that the returning GIs from WWII did in the 1950s. I would say it is about 75% to where my original plan was to bring it. Condition is Very Good to Excellent, Front and rear sight removed. Rifle is In a sporter stock that has had arsenal repairs. It is still solid. Original bolt was bent and polished by Jim the Boltman. Has a one-piece Leupold sight base and high Leupold rings. The rifle has a vintage Redfield 4X scope that was reconditioned by Iron Site. Reconditioning included recharging the scope with nitrogen and installing a new reticle (not a Redfield reticle). The rifle is quite shootable as is, but there are three improvements the new owner could make to bring this rifle to perfection. 1). A Timney trigger which is an easy install. 2). A New stock. For a drop-in stock, the replacement stock must be for a military barrel (stepped). Any other stock may need to be inlet or bedded. 3). A horizontal Winchester type safety. These are not cheap and require gunsmith or an extremely competent person to install and properly fit. $650 OBO. Not interested in any trades. Local pick up in Clarksville. I will drive as far as Exit 24 on Interstate 24 for a Nashville area buyer
