Weekend weather is looking pretty good for a change.

More ammo for you here: http://www.npr.org/2011/05/04/135995081/letters-all-things-considered-turns-40
I was quoted in Front Sight and NPR's All Things Considered in the same year. I got Melissa Block to say "gun-owning free-market capitalist libertarian" - you can hear the smirk, and I bet her producer's head nearly exploded.
Cheers,
Aaron

Big thanks to the setup crew!
We have 6 stages, including a classifier, for 114 rounds. Lots of fun stuff here. -

We will have 6 stages, including one classifier (99-53) for a total of 119 rounds. This will be a fun match with a good mix of long and short stages, close in hosing and long range steel, moving targets - something for everyone. Stage diagrams will be up when available.
Big thanks to those who helped with setup.
See you next weekend.

The brave souls who waited out the deluge shot both guns Sunday. After the rain stopped there were puddles, but temps in the high 60's, light breeze, mostly cloudy. Not bad for December.

Stage diagrams are below. 121 rounds, good mix of steel and paper, lots of movement.
All this, plus a chance to see the debut of the newest Calhoun Custom masterpiece. What better way to spend one of the 20 shopping days left before Christmas?

Yeah - what Tim said. You might lose a fraction of a second on the draw, but you're generally moving while drawing so it makes little difference.
Also, a race holster and no dry fire practice is slower than a non-race holster plus dry fire practice. Take it from someone with a race holster and insufficient dry fire practice... -
We will have 4 stages plus a classifier for a total of 121 rounds. Here is a link to the classifier:

Big thanks to everyone who helped with setup!
We will try to get stage diagrams up soon.

All,
The North Tennessee Pracitcal Shooters will host our monthly match on the 8th & 9th of December. Stage descriptions and possibly diagrams will be posted when they are available.
Better hurry - this is our last match before the Mayan apocolypse. Yes, that is sarcasm.
As always, we will set up the stages the prior Saturday, 12/1, starting around 8:00 or 8:30. Setting up stages is a great way to learn more about stage design and practical shooting in general. Anyone who helps with setup is welcome to stay and shoot after setup is done at no charge. You may not practice on the actual stages, but you can do drills, practice on steel, chrono loads, whatever.

There are lots of ways to help without being an RO, but that is not the point. We just didn't have the people or energy to host two matches on consecutive weekends, especially with the holidays approaching.
-
The NTPS Steel Match scheduled for next weekend is canceled.
Can't edit the title, so spelling quiz is also cancelled... -
The North Tennessee Practical Shooters will host our monthly match this coming weekend, 10 & 11 November, in Dickson.
This will be another fun one. We have 5 stages with 122 rounds minimum. The classifier is "Baseball Standards" (CM03-14).
Registration opens at 8:00, shooters meeting 8:45ish, first shots 9:00ish.

A big thanks to those who helped with setup! We have 5 stages plus a classifier, for a total of 137 rounds. This month's classifier is the venerable "El Presidente" - just in time for the election ;-)

The North Tennessee Pracitcal Shooters will host our monthly USPSA match next weekend, 13 & 14 October. Stage diagrams will be posted when complete.

Thanks for a great match Aaron!
You're welcome, but this is definitely a team effort and not just a one-man show. It takes lots of dedicated volunteers to put on and score quality matches.
By the way, anyone is welcome to join us for setup the Saturday morning before matches. We welcome the help, and it's a great way to learn more about stage design and get in some practice.
-
The incentive to help set-up is fully realized.
Good point - maybe we should keep the stage designs in double-secret probation mode as a perk to the setup crew?
Seriously though, we have only 1 or 2 people who are good enough with SketchUp to knock the diagrams out quickly, and they are both busy this week.
-
We probably won't post stage diagrams this time. Just bring lots of ammo and prepare to have fun.
-
A BIG thanks to everyone who came out and helped with setup yesterday.
This is going to be a really fun match. 5 stages plus a classifier (CM99-13), 138 total rounds. Close fast shots on the move, 25+ yard steel plates, a few moving targets, over 35 steel targets - something for everyone. This will be a good test and a great warmup for TN state at the end of the month.
Stage diagrams will be posted today or Monday.
-
The North Tennessee Practical Shooters will host our monthly USPSA match on 8 & 9 September. Stages will be posted when they are complete. If you want to help with setup, we will get started by 8:00 this Saturday (9/1).
We shoot Saturday and Sunday, with registration open at 8:00 and first shots by 9:00. AM and PM sessions. Shoot any session or all 4., same gun or different guns.

Thanks for a fun match.

I found a magazine at the range Sunday morning. I was the first one there, so it must have been lost Saturday. Let me know if you are missing one and describe it, and we'll figure out how to get it back to you.
Thanks again to al the new shooters - hope to see you again at the next match.

Lots of new faces today, and great weather. Thanks for coming out to shoot. Round two starts tomorrow morning, same bat time, same bat channel.
PM me if you have feedback about the match, good or bad.
Thanks,
Aaron
