I'm not voting for either one of those guys. I tried to talk to both of them about Restaurant Carry and they would not give me the time of day. I am voting for the one man that did give me his time and actually supports our 2nd Amendment Rights....Ron Ramsey.

HB3125/SB3012 new restaurant carry bill by Todd/Jackson
ngoeser59 replied to Fallguy's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
There is an amendment that comes out Monday that I think will take care of the sections you guys don't like. Keep an eye out for it. The NRA Supports this bill with the amendment! I can't go into details of what it says just yet but Monday you will see it on the TN General Assembly Website. I am personally asking that the Members of TGO come to this Committee meeting in support of Restaurant Carry. This is the time to make yourselves seen. The media will be there so you can make yourselves heard also. This is a very very important day for right to carry permit holders. We gotta get this out of Committee and onto that House Floor. It's crunch time. The Bill will be heard in Judiciary Sub-Criminal Practice & Procedure Committee Room 31 at 11am Wed March 10th. Please try and be there. Parking is a huge issue downtown so leave in plenty of time to find parking by 11am. I will see you there guys! Let's Roll ! Oh....and leave your weapon in your car. Ya' can't bring it in the Legislative Plaza. You have to go through metal detectors to get in the building. Most people know that but just thought I would put it out there anyway. -
Carry your gun. Carry it and ignore that silly sign.
-
If you want to vote for someone who really supports gun rights.....Vote for Ron Ramsey. He carried the Handgun Carry Permit Bill back in the mid 90's - he is part of the reason we have right to carry in this state. He also supports the Restaurant Carry Bill. Haslam & Wamp won't even discuss it. I tried speaking to both of them this past summer about it and they blew me off. If you vote Republican.....Ron Ramsey is the guy.

HB1807/SB0576 going to committee 2/10
ngoeser59 replied to GKar's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
HB1807 First Restaurant Carry Bill to go before committee. Let's roll!!! That means us....not the Bill. ha. If that Bill rolls a few weeks I am gonna be pissed. -
All of us here at TGO need to support Representative Curry Todd. When this Restaurant Carry Bill starts moving through Committee we need to be there. I am somewhat limited in what I can do now that I work for the Legislature but I can at least get you guys riled up enough to show up for these Committee meetings and show up in large numbers on the Capitol steps when the time is right. It's very very important that we remain diligent and steadfast on this issue. Word of mouth is very powerful and there is strength in numbers. Complacency is not an option. We have to get this thing passed. Email, Call & get together in groups within your community and try to get an appointment with the Representative for your District. If you want Restaurant Carry to pass.....you must be active in seeing it is taken seriously.

CURRY TODD IS DA' MAN!!!! THAT MAN HAS GOT SOME B***S! I have gotten to know Curry working at the Legislature and I gotta tell ya', he is a super person and he is standing up for us BIGTIME. He is pretty much saying okay guys (Randy Rayburn, Walt Baker, ABC, Judge Bonnyman, Media) there are no BARS in Tn so then let's start making these Restaurants act like Restaurants and follow the rules like they should have been all these years. You solve that and then you won't have any "guns in bars". THERE ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE ANY BARS ANYWAY. The Citizens have a right to self defense. More people die because of drunk driving then any gun deaths. I think Curry is trying to make a point here. HB2675 Generally, present law authorizes the consumption of alcoholic beverages on the premises of a restaurant licensed by the alcoholic beverage commission located within a political subdivision that allows such consumption. Generally, an establishment is eligible for such licensure if the establishment is open at least three days a week, with the exception of holidays, vacations and periods of redecorating, and if the serving of meals is the principal business conducted each day the restaurant is open. Under this bill, the alcoholic beverage commission must require any person seeking to obtain or renew such a restaurant license to submit, under oath, information with the application regarding estimated monthly food sales. Such information would include percentage of food sales in relation to all sales by the restaurant and any other information the commission may require in order to ascertain that the serving of meals is the principal business conducted each day the restaurant is open. The commission may require persons holding a restaurant license to more frequently report information regarding the restaurant's food sales. The commission may not grant a license to or renew a license of any restaurant that fails to submit such information or whose submitted information fails to show that the serving of meals is the principal business conducted each day the restaurant is open. HB3637 Alcoholic Beverages - As introduced, prohibits the sale, distribution, or consumption of alcoholic beverages, wine, or beer between the hours of midnight and 8:00 a.m. at any establishment or facility receiving a license or permit to operate by the state, county, or municipality. - Amends TCA Title 5; Title 6; Title 7; Title 57 and Title 67. HB3125 Handgun Permits - As introduced, allows person with handgun carry permit to possess handgun in establishment licensed by alcoholic beverage commission as a "restaurant," provided it is not posted; increases penalty for permit holder consuming alcohol within such an establishment; clarifies and makes uniform language constituting valid posting and increases penalty for unlawfully carrying firearm in place where alcohol served for consumption on-premises. - Amends TCA Title 39, Chapter 17, Part 13; Section 57-3-204 and Section 57-4-203.

It would be GREAT if this Bill could pass. But the media will lock onto it again with "Guns in Bars".

I see your point Hex. There is a huge part of me that just says screw it....I want them to move forward with a clean bill and I want it passed! I am just scared the Dems will end up in the majority and then take it away from us. That's all. But I don't want anyone to die waiting for this either. It is gonna end up being a mess this year I feel. You guys know I am all 2A. Uuuhhgg. It's tough. It's gonna be a big fight on the hill. -
I guess he feels like this will somehow keep bad guys from getting guns because background checks are not done in private transactions. Silly. If Billy Bob wants to buy a gun without a background check all he has to do is talk to the guy behind the booth or the guy standing next to him at the booth and say.....hey man, I want to buy a gun, you have any? Why yes Billy Bob, I sure do. Okay man, lets go out to your car(where the guns for sale are in the trunk), drive down the road to an empty parking lot and we make make the transaction there. Oh yea...write me out a quick Bill of Sale man. TRANSACTION DONE. You didn't stop a damn thing. Silly.

Senator Jackson is sponsoring and will carry a new Restaurant Carry Bill. Have no doubt about that. He is one of the strongest 2nd Amendment supporters I have ever met. He is a good man and a great Legislator (even though he's a Democrat). Curry Todd will carry the Bill in the House. I just think it may be a better move to let the Courts deal with this during this election year. We may not want to fuel this flame again until we know for damn sure that the Republicans have CONTROL on that Hill. Then we can get the Restaurant Carry Bill passed with flying colors. It is simply delaying the inevitable and being smart about it. I want it NOW also but you have to look at the big picture. Don't give voters reason to give the Dems control in this election. If they get control then we won't get crap passed and for a very LONG TIME. This Bill is sensitive and it scares alot of people who choose not to research the facts. Most people are ignorant when it comes to this and all they hear from the media is Guns in Bars. Strategy my friends....strategy. -
Guns-in-bars law hurts tourism, cities say
ngoeser59 replied to waynesan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
are you getting that number from opencarry.org? OpenCarry.org - A Right Unexercised is a Right Lost! I wonder if this is indeed correct. They still have TN listed as able to carry in Restaurants that serve alcohol but I checked with attorneys and they say it is indeed illegal to carry in these type places right now or you would be prosecuted in TN. -

Guns-in-bars law hurts tourism, cities say
ngoeser59 replied to waynesan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Yea um...... I think Randy Rayburn & Walt Baker made this one up all by themselves. 36 other States have a Restaurant Carry Law. I guess their Tourism is suffering soooooo badly also. I guess that's why they are all jumping at the chance to repeal that law (NOT)!! Total BS guys. -

and believe me....I understand those right to carry permit holders that would look at this and say....oh I see how it works....it's an election year and now all of a sudden you are gonna change your mind on us. Now seats are more important than public safety and the 2nd Amendment! THAT IS NOT TRUE. It is simply a matter of being a little patient and being smart about it so that we get what we want in the end. I just hope nobody gets hurt or killed like my Ben did while we are being patient. It's tough. I know. I struggle with it. But a good solid Restaurant Carry Law is what we want. I promise ya'....we will get it. But people like us here at TGO need to all understand the game. We all have a stake in this. Let's support our guys at the Legislature. They have us all in mind. -

After much thought on this I have to say I would like to see this get worked out in the Court system. My reasoning for this is the following... It is an Election year and this Bill is a very sensitive issue and controversial. There are many many democrats that of course hate this piece of legislation. There are some republicans that sway to the left a little that will not want to bring it up again. Basically, maybe we should sit on it this year within the Legislature & let the Courts work on it and make for damn sure that the Republicans have the majority once this election is over and then ladies & gentlemen.....we can get it passed through Committee, House & Senate just as smooth as butter. Sure we could try and get it passed again this Session but with all the negative media spinning this Bill (which they will do again) have no doubt, we could end up with the Democrats in the majority. Naifeh does not have control now. So we have to play SMART. This Bill will be passed-It will. But if we risk it and even if it passes this session and it costs Republican seats...then the Democrats will come back in and take it all away from us. The district lines will be re-drawn to suit the Dems and then we won't have a snowballs chance in hell. For the first time in 140 years we can get the right guys in control and have good legislation passed! Patience is a virtue. Believe me, nobody wants this more than ME. But it has to be a strategy. Let's make sure the Republicans have a strong hold and then we can have everything we want the way we want it. Patience. I SAY DELAY!!! -
Restaurant Carry Law ruled Void!
ngoeser59 replied to raydog1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
The Attorney General wants to review the transcript and decide. He did say the court erred. But it may have to go back through the Legislative process for a fix. Either way, this will become Law. It's frustrating but it is soooo worth fighting for. This Law is very important to me on a personal level. Let's get ready to R-U-M-B-L-E!!! Use your anger as a tool to educate those that don't understand this Law. Do it in a postive way. The more you talk about this and have your friends and family talk about this....the better it will be for us all. Start talking....everywhere. -

Yesterday was a setback but I believe our Legislators will get this fixed. It's frustrating for all of us who worked so hard for this Law. This is far from over. We just have to keep pushing. We can't become too discouraged. This just means we have to talk to more Lawmakers and talk to the public and educate those that don't understand. Word of mouth is very very powerful. Use it. http://www.fox17.com/newsroom/top_stori ... 2043.shtml -
ZDF German Television came to the Second or None Event and below is their report on carrying firearms in American Restaurants that serve alcohol. Anyone speak German and care to post an interpretation? USA: Bewaffnet in die Bar

I honestly think it was just a joke. Ya' see we all kind of poke fun at each other. Heck, I have done it to Senator Jackson (in a light hearted harmless way) and he just laughs. The fact is.....I even realize that I have been wrong all this time thinking that "Democrats" are anti-gun. It just is not always true. Senator Jackson is a Democrat and I have nothing but the highest amount of respect for the man. He is a good man with so many powerful things to say regarding our 2nd Amendment Rights etc etc...I have noticed sometimes Republicans turn their ears off when Jackson gets up to speak but then I see their ears come back on when they catch some of what he is saying. In politics you have to choose a side in order to actually win (Democrat or Republican) you try and run with anything else and you will not make it. So the man is a Democrat. I was raised around Republicans but I promise you......Senator Jackson would be welcome around my family anytime. Don't be too harsh on each other. Some jokes keep things interesting. Call each other knuckle heads to each others faces, shake hands, and work together. That's what these politicians do. Attorney's do it too. The strangest thing I have ever seen. They rip each other a new one in the Senate or in Court and then go have a beer together. hahaha.... -

The only contact I had with any media to cover this event was with ZDF German Television They plan to air the news footage on Monday Oct 19th It will be available online at mittagsmagazin - ZDF.de From what I understand, they interviewed the people that filed the lawsuit against the Tn Legislature regarding the Restaurant Carry Law (Randy Rayburn-owner of Sunset Grill downtown Nashville and his Attorney Mr. Smith) and then they did an interview with several others at the Second or None Event. Should be interesting. I hope it ends up being at least somewhat fair & balanced. We will see. The Germans are not "allowed" to have Guns. They don't have RIGHTS like we do as Americans. They think that their Government will take care of them. Scary. The reporter I talked to thought we were all kind of crazy to feel like we needed to have guns....so....I pointed out to her what Hitler did in her country. I bet that part does not show up on TV. Any body wanna get a bet going? haha.
