  1. There was no order of protection. This should help explain. https://tennesseeconservativenews.com/thanks-to-stalking-victim-lifetime-order-of-protection-takes-effect-july-1/
  2. When our system does not keep dangerous people out of society, victims are forced to do this...https://tennesseeconservativenews.com/thanks-to-stalking-victim-lifetime-order-of-protection-takes-effect-july-1/
  3. TN Governor Bill Lee just signed into law a "Lifetime Order Of Protection" option for victims of violent crime. For victims/survivors of violent crime out there, I highly recommend a backup plan, because at the end of the day, this is only a piece of paper. It has the weight of the law behind it, but it can still be violated. Unfortunately, convicted violent criminals can recidivate. I encourage victims to take advantage of this new law but also learn to be their own first responder, learn about situational awareness, have a safety plan, learn the law on self defense and justifiable use of force, and take firearms safety and training courses. I personally choose to carry a gun lawfully for self defense. Victims should never completely rely on an order of protection. Do what you must to protect yourself within the law. https://www.fox17.com/news/ferrier-files/new-tennessee-law-will-allow-violent-crime-victims-to-seek-lifetime-order-of-protection
  4. Here is a quote from TDOC in a recent Tennessean article. "Since 95% of incarcerated people in Tennessee will one day return to our communities as our neighbors, we are committed to ensuring they leave better than they came." This man should NOT be a part of that 95% being released. He will never be "reformed." It is incredibly dangerous to set him loose one day.
  5. In answer to your question about why he was not convicted for 1st degree murder. It was a bench trial (Judge only), no jury. The murderer got to choose that. Liberal Davidson County Judge Seth Norman heard this case. Mental health experts were brought in for both the defense and prosecution. Both testified they believe he has delusional disorder. The defense mental health expert testified she did not believe he was capable of premeditation. The prosecution's expert didn't push back very hard and basically left it up to the Judge to decide if that is true based on the evidence. Here was just some of the evidence. This man had actually gone downtown first, looking for us that night. When he couldn’t find us, he asked acquaintances where he could find us and he got directions to the restaurant. These acquaintances at multiple karaoke venues downtown noticed that when he left, he hadn’t drank any of his beer. The beer bottle he left at each place was still full. I think it’s clear he was there specifically waiting for us. He wasn’t there to have a few beers and a good time. He then drove 30 minutes that night to where we were. I had never seen him at this venue before. I was concerned he was stalking me when I noticed him there. I discreetly asked management to remove him and let them know he was stalking me. When they approached him and asked him to leave, he was looking around the room (I assume he was looking for me but I was beside a brick wall, where I could see him but he had no clue where I was), he then shot Ben 7 times. When the police searched his vehicle at the crime scene, they found 2 more guns, ammunition, a baseball bat, binoculars, gloves rope and a knife. Police made note that my stalker made a number of physical preparations that very day. He purchased the shoulder holster, binoculars and baseball bat that day. The Judge dropped it from 1st degree to 2nd degree despite that kind of evidence. That Judge is well into his 80's now and retired. He has left me facing an incredibly dangerous situation in my future.
  6. It's been a long time since I was last on the TGO forum. I thought I'd let you know it looks like I'll be going to court again because of this creeper. He's currently set to be released from prison early for "good behavior" in just 7 more years, even though he has been doing this from state prison. I'm hoping he will be kept in a federal prison for at least 5 more years (the maximum federal law allows for federal stalking) after everything he has done. I'm still trying to get his early release/good behavior credits revoked. So far, he still has his credits. Of course, I carry legally for self defense and I've had multiple firearms training classes on justifiable use of force, situational awareness and I've trained at Front Sight. However, it's still terrifying that he will be released one day. https://www.wsmv.com/news/i-want-him-to-leave-me-the-hell-alone-widow-hopes-charges-will-end-murderer/article_5069cc78-4a0b-11eb-a3ad-73f9f7924df7.html

  9. I hope you guys are doing well. I'm sorry it's been awhile since I have been on the forum. After 3 long years, my family and I finally got through the murder trial and sentencing of Ben's murderer.
  10. Here is my column that is now on humanevents.com regarding the Governors 2nd veto of the Restaurant Carry Bill. Nikki's Pro-Gun Blog: Governor Bredesen turns against Tennessee Citizens I was informed today at the Statehouse that the rules have indeed been suspended. However, SB3012 has not been put on notice yet by Rep. Curry Todd. He will put it on notice tomorrow (session begins at 10am). The override will either happen on Friday (if they have session....it is touch and go right now). Or it can happen on Monday. However, we are really not sure if they will just say to heck with this....let's just stay Saturday and get this session wrapped up (in that case it could be heard Saturday). Ya' gotta love Politics. The Budget is a real concern for our Legislators but it appears they are starting to come to an agreement. We should have enough time to get this Restaurant Carry override vote done in enough time. If everyone votes the way they did before.....we have 66 votes in the house.
  11. Governor Bredesen has ignored the Will of the citizens of Tennessee yet again. His veto of the Restaurant carry bill speaks volumes about his disregard for our Constitution and our Second Amendment Rights. This man was elected and swore under oath to uphold our Constitution. With an overwhelming vote in both the Senate and House, our fine Legislators spoke for their Constituents by their vote supporting the Restaurant Carry Bill. This bill was re-done to fix the unconstitutionality that Chancellor Bonnyman ruled on last year. The Chancellor found that right to carry permit holders would not be able to properly discern if they could legally carry their firearm in establishments that serve alcohol because they could not tell by definition in the bill, whether it was truly a Restaurant or a bar. This year our Legislators re-drafted a bill that opens up lawful carry by permit holders to ANY establishment that serves alcohol. This was the only way to make sure this law would not be brought back in a lawsuit again for vagueness. I want to make it very clear that business owners can still post a sign saying "no guns allowed". I support a business owners right to choice in posting. I will however say this....those signs will do absolutely NOTHING to stop a criminal/bad guy from coming into your establishment and robbing you or killing you. It is better to have law abiding citizens present who are trained and permitted that can stop a bad guy before they kill someone. I have a firsthand account of what can happen when a law abiding citizen is disarmed. My husband was murdered in front of me by a man that had been stalking me in an establishment that serves alcohol. I myself being a law abiding citizen, left my permitted gun locked in my car the night my husband was murdered. The law did NOT stop my stalker. The law DID stop me, from having the chance to save my precious husband Ben. These laws that restrict lawful carrying of a gun for self defense creates a playground for criminals. I have said this many times and I will say it again....If guns cause crime, then my gun is defective. A gun cannot pull it's own trigger. When seconds count, the Police ARE minutes away. I know, I have been there. Nobody can take care of you like you can. I find it disturbing that our Governor vetoed this very important bill using the excuse that Guns and Alcohol don't mix. Did you read the bill Governor? The bill clearly states that you CANNOT drink while in possession of that firearm. Why should he care about individuals carrying firearms legally to protect themselves? Oh wait, that's right....He has a whole team to protect him! When I was attending the "A Season To Remember" event at the TN Capitol (this is where the families of homicide victims come and hang their loved ones pictures on the wreaths at the Capitol) where he had a female TN State Trooper sitting right next to me and actually walked with me while I walked past the Governor to hang Ben's picture on the wreath. Funny how his life is worth more than ours and one little lady in Nashville TN can make him that nervous. I wouldn't touch a hair on his head. I can't wait for our Legislators to override his poor decision again. Let's roll! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dH_DraQrfz8

  13. I stand corrected. After double checking....the override vote only requires a simple majority vote. Bredesen is going to Veto it most likely or he MAY just let it become law without a signature (afterall the Legislative body has Twice now passed this Bill) and the Governor needs to be focused on this flood and the budget. My personal guess is......he will veto it.
  14. My friend Adam & I were up in the nose bleed section (the gallery) in the House watching it all as it happened. The NRA is a very good organization that has fought hard for our 2nd Amendment Rights. I hate it that they were made out to be some kind of threatening powerhouse by one of our Representatives (on the Republican side). Heidi Keisling (NRA Lobbyist) has been very diplomatic with all the Legislators and it bothered me that this comment was made because it makes her look bad. It was not necessary. This was again....a bipartisan vote. For those Reps that voted against the bill, I just hope they are never in a horrible sitaution like Ben & I were. Legislators are not immune from stalkers & murderers & should be able to defend themselves. What happened to me can happen to ANYONE. We have a VETO that is going to need to be overriden. It has to be a 2/3 vote. Please stay diligent in your efforts to contact our Legislators on this Bill! Your emails, phone calls & faxes are very very very important!! Please stay involved and make sure you are personally doing SOMETHING to help get this bill passed. Hugs to my pistol pack'in pals Nikki

  16. YouTube - Murder witness turns gun advocate Guns and bars should mix, widow says | Nashville City Paper: Nashville's Online Source for Daily News (I did NOT say Guns & Bars SHOULD mix) I love it when they come up with their own "shock" headline. They also did not explain the posting provision which I spelled out for them. Oh well, I tried.
  17. HB3125 is in Budget Sub Committee this Wed at 11am. The way that committee is stacked......I pray it makes it out. Naifeh is in there.
  18. Rep. Bass is a good good man. He's one of the few Democrats that I think the world of. Great guy.
  19. Hopefully HB3125 will pass on through. We all know Gov. Bredesen will veto it AGAIN. It will have to be overriden AGAIN. I hope we have the votes and the balls AGAIN.
  20. HB1807 sponsored by West, HB2694 sponsored by Dennis are not ON NOTICE. They are going with Rep. Curry Todd's HB3125 with the Amendment. The NRA-ILA issued a press release in support of this bill with the Amendment if that tells you anything. This is a great bill (with the amendment) and takes care of everything you are concerned about. So am I gonna see any of you guys in Committee tomorrow at 11:00am? http://www.nraila.org/Legislation/Read.aspx?ID=5535
  21. I carry a .38 airweight Smith & Wesson snubnose revolver with Hogue rubber grips. I just spoke in Little Rock about the importance of having a firearm for self defense. Gun advocates rally in Little Rock - FOX16.com Little Rock, AR
  22. I would personally get a little nervous if I saw someone carrying a rifle down the street loaded. But that's just me.
  23. I'm still learning being over there at the War Memorial Bldg. The amendment will be discussed in Committee. At that point, if the amendment is added then it will show up on the General Assembly Website. It will not show up until it has been voted on. I think the way the Committee is stacked, it should pass to go to full Committee. This whole process of going through Committees, House & Senate Floor, Veto override will take about 6 weeks. Get ready to ride the bull. The media will be all over this AGAIN.
  24. Trust me......you will LOVE the Amendment.
