Why is she set on a mag fed rifle? Not criticizing, just curious. The Model 60 can be found cheap and even with a wood stock it is very lightweight. I like it for the fact of the tube loader is easy to use and does not load up the fingertips with lead like jamming cartridges in a mag does.
  2. I love both my Marlin model 60 and a Savage MkII. I scoped the Savage and it is fun to shoot, but the Marlin shoots about 4 inches left and makes it a real challenge. Guess it depends for what frustrations I am up for when I pick my fav! GlockKing, shame on you for not having a .22
  3. I got Wolf Mil Class from Cheaper than Dirt a few weeks ago for 179 a thousand. I had called Aim and one other ( alzheimers kicking in, can't remember who) and though their sites quoted prices none of them had it in stock. I know of a gun shop up near JC that has it for $22 per hundred.
  4. Great, the wifey already thinks I have too many guns. Now I see I need three more to complete the list. Hopefully will have "centerfire revolver" covered tomorrow. Now to start shopping for the .22 pistol and start saving for the class III
  5. Wow, never thought someone would respond to fast. I like shooting handguns a lot, easier to do here at home anyway. I have a S&W 9mm, Ruger SAS 22LR/WMR, and a Hi-Point .40S&W. Hold the rips on the H-P please, lol. With some luck I will have a Ruger .357 snubby this week. I am hoping it is still where I saw it last week. Should have bought it then, I know. Rifles I have a Yugo SKS and a Mosin M-44 (1948). Not to toot my own horn but far and away it is the best looking M-44 I have ever seen. Matching numbers all around and I do not think it had ever been shot. I also have the requisite Model 60 and a lefty bolt action Savage .22LR. Got a 12 ga. pump too, but I hate to shoot it so it is a safe queen. Oh and forgot about the 1851 Navy in .44, but it is on the disabled list in need of an action transplant. It was my favorite gun to shoot, I have had it over twenty years. One guy at a gun shop told me it might be time for it just to look nice (instead of shoot nice.) But I am not ready to give up on it yet. I saw the thread about an E.TN shoot. I hope you all invite me for one in July, already commited for next weekend.
  6. I never could understand why someone would run a paying customer into the ground over a purchase they are making. Be it an Ed Brown or a Hi-Point. If someone is spending their hard earned cash in you place they are to be shown gratitude and treated with respect. Heck anyone who comes in the door deserves that at minimum. I never drive past a gun shop, especially one I have not been in yet. Some of them seem happy you are there and a few, well I did not stay very long. Often I spend nothing but I definitely make mental notes as to whether they will appreciate me and my business. The ones who offer products I use get my business provided I am not made to feel like an intruder. Treat me like you want my business and you will get it!
  7. Hi everybody, I stumbled upon this site a week ago and it seems like a great place. I've enjoyed the threads I have read, you all seem like a great bunch of people! I have been interested in firearms for a lot of years, and have gotten back into it for sport, stress relief and plain old fun here in the last few months. The gun collection has grown a little and my pockets grow emptier from hoarding ammo My shooting interests are mainly with pistols and milsurps, but if it goes bang I like it. The wife does not mind I shoot and what-not but she has no real interest in it for herself. Wish I could change that some. You guys with a wife or girlfriend who like to shoot are lucky. I am also a big fan of the Bill of Rights. Looking forward to my stay here , Mike
