Welcome from Corryton, next time you get home we gotta have a shoot!

Welcome from Knox County. Where do you shoot north of Knoxville? Ever use your Glock scuba diving?
-
Porting improves the looks and feel of most any gun. What I reall want to know is does one hunt Water Buffaloe while scuba diving?
-
personally I think the thread made a huge improvement from the "hate" beginnings to the peacefulness of open water diving. So who carries a Glock bought from Franklin Gun when they dive? (gets thread back on topic maybe) hehe

anyone know if you can carry in dollywood?

I am sure i will have a handgun with me, concealed is concealed. As for the "I knew" part, well she is family and I am not forgetting family. -
I sold all my dive gear about 7 years ago. Developed a huge drowning phobia. I did about 30 dive boat trips (60 actual dives) off the S. Fla coast, mostly drift dives but a few wrecks as well. I think the deepest I went was 130 ft. Normal was about 60 ft. It was a great experience. I guess my PADI open water diver card is still good.

I had no idea there were people here certified to dive, I guess one of them there Glocks might come in handy underwater;) Where do you all go diving?

There just aren’t enough people carrying

It might be a good time to mention situational awareness and being man enough to dis-engage from an argument. Maybe if the two that were shot had left or not responded to the shooter it may have not happened. Seems that America's youth is now taught through TV, movies and video games to be the tough guy and do not hesitate to pull out that illegally carried pistol they got off the street. I do not get out of my truck anywhere without checking my surroundings first. I do not enter the convenience store if something seems askew. I actually have sat a couple of times in the car until what I saw as odd resolved itselfs. Everytime nothing happened. And I am not afraid to back off if something is not right. Pulling the pistol is always the last, and only then a forced option. Been lucky to date that there has been no need for it. -
I have never handled a Glock, but I believe most of the accidental discharges come from the cleaning of the weapon. You must pull the trigger as the second step of disassembly. The first step of course unloading the weapon. Seems they remove the mag and do not check for a hot load in the pipe. Then bang you got an accidental discharge. My S&W Sigma functions in this same manner. have to pull the trigger to take it apart. I always follow the four rules and have never had a problem. But alas it only takes one time to err and you may have a mess to deal with. Having it do buy over again I would pick something else. I like the pistol fine and am very used to the trigger pull now so I guess I will keep it. Anyway I doubt I would ever own a Glock for these reasons. I think a 1911 style .45 is next on the list.

Did you go to Dixie Stampede? That is someplace I have been meaning to go for years. Gaatlinburg and the SMNP are two of my favorite places. Karin and I are meeting up with my brothers and their wives there in Sept for a long weekend. I can't wait. Not sure what the carry situation will be as at least one of the sister in laws is a major anti. I am sure I will hear about it if she finds out I will have a handgun with me in the chalet. I am willing to bet there are a lot of No guns allowed signs in Gatlinburg. -
How about a Mosin Nagant M44 or M38. You could find a nice matching numbered one for less that $150 easily, maybe even as low as $89. Ammo is inexpensive and the rifle is carbine length, easier to manuever in and out of a truck or trunk. With it being low cost scratches and dings should not be a concern. It is bolt action and very reliable. I think they are accurate shooters as well.

I dunno if I would want ot carry at an amusement park. If you go on the rides the seats are tight, especially for me. And a lot of Dollywoods rides involve a real good chance you will get soaking wet. I know everyone is worried about being caught in a situation and being unarmed but it would not stop me from going there. Situational awareness can do a lot to make up for lack of a firearm. Anyway Dollywood is a lot of fun. Sometime you gotta roll the dice. -
Boom, I dunno why you had to wait to fingerprint. Maybe that has changed since you did it and when I did, dunno? I am also suprised your HCP class was of such short duration. It may have been nice to be done and home early but you got shortchanged in class instruction. I bet my class time was easily 6 hours of instruction and discussion. The shooting was done in two relays and between the two it took another 2 or 3 hours. One group tested while the other shot then we switched places. I did not mind the all day affair of class though. It was very informative. Did you frame your certificate? Also has anyone bought one of the HCP badges I have seen sold around here?

I have been known to wear an empty holster, It may count:confused: What's a Pratt's?
-
well it looks like a Glock, no wood here either:rolleyes:

Careful what you say, some prosecuter gets ahold of your PC after you have an incident of self defense and they will twist it to mean you could not wait to shoot someone. I am only half kidding here so you know.

If it only takes five minutes i want to ride with you guys, I never been in a car that goes that fast. I will ride with the bayonet extended to help cut the wind! woohoo
-
This is incorrect. I filed paperwork and was printed within about 35 minutes. When you call in your info to the number the DOS supplies, like Boom said they will give you a location to print at. I was also told by these people that I need not wait, that I could go on right now and get printed I wanted to.
-
If you go Boom I would like to carpool. Aside from that I need directions
-
Now that would be worth having if it was ported and the frame was purple.

Gunslingers in Kingsport has 100 rd pack of 7.62X39 FMJ or JHP for 21.95. I think it is Wolf that they repacked. CTD was $179 six weeks ago and is no $209 for Wolf Mil Classic 1000 rd case. Add in about $25 for shipping irregardless who you buy from. Did you call Aim about their ammo? I have found that they may show items on their website but when you call to order that they are out of stock.

I filled out the required paperwork on Strawberry Plains. Went the Tuesday after Memorial Day around 2:00 pm. Was in and out in 20 minutes at the most. I was electronically fingerprinted at the UPS Store in Halls, that took all of five minutes. And BTW the fee you pay at the DOS covers the fingerprinting, there is no extra charge from UPS. My class shot 48 rounds from 3 yards to 15 yards. All hits on the silhouette counted. I think the distances were 12 shots each at 3 yards, 7 yards, 10 yards and 15 yards. I took the class from the Knox Country Regional Sherrifs Training Center on Maloneyville Rd. It cost $85 and took all day, about 9 hours on a Saturday. The indoor range there was awesome, never seen anything like it. If I was a cop I would be shooting there all the time. Time from date of class to receiving permit was like 32 or 33 days.

Tower you cracked me up . I re-read my post and see the double meaning. Of course I meant that no one here should be cussin the yankees,. And if anyone needs cussin I volunteer to do it! As for snipers I saw the episode on Myth Busters about Hathcock and the shot through the scope. Pretty incredible:up:.

So I got pulled over in Franklin...

Ok, just kidding, I am sorry but I crack me up sometimes. Mine took 29 days from fingerprinting to it arriving in my mailbox. -

I am sorry to tell you but moving violations stop the permit process, and they will reconsider if you re-apply
