This is kind of off topic but you comparing UPS and FedEx reminded me. :popcorn:The last time I was in Kingsport about a week and a half ago we were headed up 11W towards Bristol. Just past where the new Dicks store is going in there had been a wreck. Now this is no lie, Tower maybe you saw it on the news up there or in the paper. There was a UPS truck and a Fed Ex truck wrecked together in a ditch on the north side of the road. I hope no one was injured but it was pretty obvious to me that the two drivers had to have been racing :eek:to make a stop at the same place. They were both on their side right next to a side street. The side road was too narrow for two trucks and I am guessing neither driver gave way. I am also guessing their deliveries were delayed that day. Now back to our regularly scheduled argument......

Owning ammo before actually owning the gun is bad luck. In an effort to get your good karma back I will suggest that you ship your 7.62X54r ammo to me. Once this happens I bet you get your gun.

To be fair he did not say that, just did not want the gun. That request was well within his right. Just as we all have a right to choose not to go there or to go there unarmed. The manager could have gone the jerk route and called the local gestapo. I would suggest to the manager that he learn the laws he refers to before coming to me expressing false information. I also would have asked which customers were scared. I also would have left my buggy sitting and walked out. +1 Rabbi I shop at an IGA a few minutes from the house, I know the manager just from my five years of being a customer, he is always very nice. But I would hate to lose going to that store as it is very convenient. How about an upper decker instead ? Yikes BT, I am probably wrong but do you open carry in hopes of having a confrontation? I firmly believe here in Knoxville open carrying is going to result in a slam to the ground and some sort of criminal charge. No way would I OC. In spite of Hanoi Jane you can't shoot that movie, I have a few fond memories of taking and old high school sweetheart to the Ferguson Drive In :popcorn:to see it, well it was playing but I am not sure we saw much of it. I have been told that it was a aweful movie, but just the same:shrug:...

Hi Ron, Welcome to TGO. I for one hope you choose to post more often. In your one post you have imparted more wisdom to me than I have ever passed on in my (however many) posts. Your line of has gotten me thinking. I have just assumed I would pass my guns down to my grandkids. It never entered my mind about the responsibility thing. I have put several hundred rounds through mine since I bought it back in April. As for maintenance I clean the bore and bolt face with some ammoniated window cleaner I bought on the cheap at WalMart, then clean the rest of it in the normal manner. I don't know about puttting a muzzle brake on it. There is not much room at the end of the barrel past the sight and the bayonet flips out and fits over the end of the barrel. I have read that it is recommended to shoot it for accuracy with the bayonet extended, but I have found mine shoots about the same either way. And it is probably more accurate than I can shoot anyway. Check out Cheaper than Dirt for accessories. Here is a link for a pack of them. They have other stuff too. Years ago in the Fall we used to go to Turkey shoots sponsored by the K of C. There was always a beer booth, and half of the point of going to the turkey shoot was to drink beer. As for grits you all can have them. Soft sand is about right, boiled sand might be more to the point. I have lived south of the border for about 13 years now and have yet to see a grit tree, dunno where the dang things come from. I used to have a source for moon shine, I would get it on occassion just to have around for when yankee relatives would come visitin'. It is okay and all, but regular store bought bourbon tastes a lot better and there is really not much price difference. There is still some blackberry and peach sittin in the mini fridge right now. I used to work with an old guy who would get a jar of shine and put a piece of charred oak inside it and let it color and flavor the stuff for a few weeks. Seemed to soften it up a bit.

I have a Russian M44 1948 model. Don't know what advice you need, but I have found that Bulgarian light ball works better than Hungarian heavy ball, as far as actioning the bolt. Do all the numbers match? And you know about cleaning after shooting corrosive ammo? They are fun to shoot, and the bayonet makes a handy tool for cooking hotdogs over the fire!

I normally use plain old carboard with some circles drawn on it. I used to have bunch of old beer posters, the kind with hot girls on them, you know the kind. They were great as basically the models were life size. Golf balls are one of my fav's as when you hit them they tend to jump around a bit. Anything interactive is fun to shoot. I never shoot glass as then I have to clean it up.

Wouldn't they still have liquor and cigarettes to worry about?
