  1. If Shannon wore the hat we would never know it.
  2. Welcome to this place, where ya from?
  3. Congrat's on your departure from Chi-town and welcome to the forum. I snuck past the border guards in Illinois and made my way out back in 1995, we lived in Round Lake Beach back then. Hope to see you at one of our shoots!
  4. I have always found it odd that many of the big and most respected gun makers reside in states and near areas with restricting gun laws. Surely they are there because it is more profitable.
  5. I can flat tell you why this will never happen. The TDOS and TICS do not know what the other is really doing. TDOS could approve you for a carry permit. You could do something illegal after that and be arrested which will not allow you to possess or purchase handguns. Without the background check TICS would not know you were not allowed to purchase. Your permit may be invalid but TDOS might not know you were arrested for several weeks or months. If not convicted or if you are not a fugitive you can appeal a denied purchase and may well be approved. For one, I am not so much against the idea of a TICS background check, what I am against is the storing of information related to your new firearm being saved in data-bases. I am not sure how often they exchange information but it sure is not daily or weekly.
  6. The Eastern Band of the TGO tribe rocks! It was nice shooting with you and your son. Hope you can make it next time.
  7. That is why I was pleased by finding one in .357. If I am wrong correct me but case stretching only happens with auto-loaders???, being the cases from .357/.38specials I will reload are fired from a revolver and then only need the neck resizing. If need be I will pick up a trimming tool as I will need it at some point for other calibers I hope to reload in the future. I kind of assumed to be extra careful when priming as it involves a wack with a mallet to seat them. Hopefully with care I can keep the sudden bangs to a minimum. Thanks for the input Mark.
  8. as per advice I received if shaking sets in pull back to low-ready between shots. This really works.
  9. :popcorn:I went Sunday with a buddy from work. We spent 3 hours walking the aisles. :up:Normally at these kinds of things I like to see it all and then go back to it if something interested me. At about the fifth table we looked at a guy had some reloading stuff on hand. All of it looked used, nothing NIB. I have been working my thought process to start loading but have not bought the first component yet. He had a lot of dies and then in a box similar to a die box I found Lee Loader in .357 Mag:cool:, he also had one in .308. I looked at the Lee Loader as I had seen one on a website before but the picture was not large enough to really see anything. It is complete for handloading rounds aside from a caliper. Only $10 bucks. I have seen them at Graff's for $20 and Cabelas has them for $15, of course they will charge shipping. $10 seemed like a steal on something I wanted anyway so I broke my rule of looking at all first and picked it up. :DCan't wait to get supplies and a caliper and try it out. Mostly I see having it as a way to try out loading and see exactly for myself how much I may save by doing it, without laying out $300 or more just for start up. If it is a enough of a money saver I can always upgrade. I was also on the look out for grips for a 1911. My RIA is a nice gun but the grips stink. I found several ranging from $50 and higher to cheapo Colt copies for $10. I picked up a pair of black, checkered, hard rubber grips for $15. They also had a set of brown checkered for $20 and the guy offered them both to me for $25. I did not care for the brown ones particularly and saved the extra $10 for something else. The new grips were just the ticket. They feel/handle awesome and make the gun look better than it did. I Took the $10 I saved and went back to where a lady was selling gun-rugs. $4 apiece, two for $7 and three for $10. I bought two for $7 and ended up coming back with three bucks in my gun funds. :woohoo:Woohoo! The best part of the day might have been before we went in the door. I was walking to my buddies truck and a man was talking at him. I promptly asked if the man in the truck(my buddy) giving him trouble and offered to yank him out and kick his ass:bowrofl:. I crack me up, the man just looked at me kind of startled, then my friend(who stepped out of the truck)and I just started laughing. Seems the man had some extra free passes to the show and gave us each one! It was a great day and we topped it off by coming back to the house and shooting off a couple hundred rounds. 50 of which were Wolf .45ACP I picked up with the $10 bucks the free pass saved us on admission. I love gun shows:up:
  10. Here is one to add. The Gun Show at the Expo Center on Merchants Rd. In knoxville. Cops at the door to check your gun. you can carry it but it cannot be loaded and I believe they zip tie it as well. They gave me the creeps and I did not carry today anyway so I just got away from them.
  11. I would highly recommend Phantom6 to everyone if they have not already taken their carry class. Mike is a class act all the way and a pleasure to talk with and learn from.
  12. I had a great time yesterday!! I finally got the guns all cleaned and most everything put back where is belongs. MolonLabeTN put on a great show with the bumpfiring of the AK-74, that is one bad weapon! Lots of lead downrange by everyone, I have not added up what I shot yet but it has to be well over 500 rounds. I even finally became a member of the Mosin Nagant 2X4 Club, though I guess technically it was the 4X4 club, hahahaha. And I liked to never thought I would get that stuck cartridge out of it. Thanks to Tower, Master Armorer for doing the fix. I guess I need to slow the rate of fire down a bit, gotta bruise on my right palm that will likely take a month to heal. Can't wait to do it again! BTW I posted all my pics in the gallery in the Member Events ( or whatever it is called) area. I have about pee's myself laughing over the pic from Julez titled ' M44SoEasyaCavemancandoit.jpg. We shouild have had film rolling for trying top unbolt it. that 4x4 did ther trick. How did the Russians beat the Nazi's on the eastern front with that thing? But then again the Ruskies probably were not throwing 60 rounds out of it in 15 minutes. Can you say HOT!
  13. Thats all part of smart shopping. As for the customer service, One time at band camp, wait different story. Their customer service treated me very well two different occassions. Both times they spent near fifteen minutes with me making sure what I wanted was what was being ordered. I like dealing with that company.
  14. Going to the Gunshow Sunday, but oddly enough it is here in Knoxville. Looking for a new set of 1911 grips and always on the lookout for affordable ammo. (if there is such a thing.)
  15. did someone throw them at her? they look like unfired ammo to me. but what do I know?
  16. A couple of years ago our drier stopped working. I was like WTF. I checked the plug, checked the breakers, nothing thrown. So i call Sears to have a repair man come out. $70 to get them to the door. The guy comes out fiddles around a minute or two and asks to see the breaker box. I tell him that I already looked at it and the breakers were all still on. He asks again to see it, so I show him, he flips the breaker for the drier off and back on. Well I bet you all can guess what happens now. The freakin drier works. I did not know the breaker could blow and not flip the switch visibly into the neutral position as I had always thought. Now I know better and it cost $70 to learn. DUH.
  17. I am fine with CDT, have bought from them several times and never had trouble.
  18. molonlabeTN asks See post # 27 linked below. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/showpost.php?p=23193&postcount=27 Anyone else getting their toys together to come play tomorrow? I am gathering and packing ammo at the moment. It's gonna be a hoot!
  19. I bet 90% of the time I go to WalMart to buy ammo I have to search for someone to come assist me. It gets very annoying. I understand theft may be a problem but when I go to bass pro Shop all their pistol ammo is readily available on shelves for me to help myself to. And for that matter WalMart does not hide shotgun shells behind locked glass, they are on shelves in a help yourself style. Same here , it is all I buy there. I much prefer BPS as they will price match to WalMarts prices, so when I go near Kodak there is always a side trip involved.
  20. I did not read anything that lead up to this statement. But I can tell you one thing, this is the USA and there is a definite seperation of religion and state. This sounds to me like blatant segregationism and has no place in our country. I know it may suck but it is not how things work around here. Islamics are not the problem, terrorists are. How about this, Catholics are not allowed to practice their beliefs in our country. Depending on your views they may be held as terrorists. Ask a protestant Irishman.
  21. IF someone here has a new AR they need to send it for us to shoot no matter what their lame excuse is. Seriously it is not our fault you have to work, send your gun dude!
  22. I dunno about Wal-Mart policy. But if it is a rule stopping ammo sales at 10 PM sounds rather strange. Sounds to me more like they do not want to have adequate help after 10 PM so therefore stop staffing the sporting goods department. Simple solution to me is shop there before 10 Pm. Typically by 10 PM I am ready for bed anyway so I do my duty there by the middle of the day. I picked up 1100 rounds of Remington Golden Bulletds .22lr today and made my purchase by noon. I do agree with you that it is BS and is not a law here in TN. Phantom, if you need some for this weekend let me know and I will bring extra, I do feel your pain.
  23. Gun show here in K-Town this weekend, can't wait. I am looking for 1911 grips and an wooden ammo container with a hasp. if all alse fails I will pick up some 7.62X54r ammo
  24. Do wealthy people favor or dis-favor the flat tax? By wealthy I roughly mean people whose incomes are greater than mine j/k You know what I mean by wealthy.
  25. I have big doubts that the tax thing will ever happen. If they do away with the IRS what happens to all the fat cats who draw salaries from it, not to mention all the regular jobs. Gotta be a million people working because of our way of taxing income.
