so they should not serve the constituants?
-
I think this has been a great thread. Funny thing to me is, TGO members I know from seeing them on this board frequently, basically all see things from one side, and other posters whose names I do not recognize seem to tell another story. I am sticking with the guys I know. Pumpkin pie with Cool Whip is your friend. This I know as fact! PS: Tungsten, no need to go and fume, this place is great. Very quality people here. The ones I have personally met are all top notch people, and I will go out on a limb and give the ones I have not met personally but who post here regularly the benefit of the doubt. Now don't get me wrong though, I will take the pie over all of you;)

Mark, I have never seen a gun like that before. Looks like something you ought to break out for St. Patty's Day! Very cool looking dude

+1 to Tungston and Hero Gear. And just because people do not agree with your opinions on someone is no reason to run off. If disagreement was the case anyone with a Glock would have been run off by Mars long ago:stir: And Rabbi would have run everyone else off

No, either changing ones mind is right or it is wrong. I say changing you mind, ie: stand on things, is right.
-
I came in late on this but am not passing it up HA, you want it both ways. So how does Fred change his mind and this is OKAY in your opinion? But when I expressed it in another thread you alluded that my way of thinking was wrong. You can't have it both ways!
-
I really do not agree with you here. Those elected need to change their viewpoint to represent the majority. We are seeing plenty of this now among the majority who beat the drums of war before the Iraq mess came on and now who agree with the general public that it was a mistake and needs to be fixed. Someone who can admit they made an error and then acts to fix it is a stand up character in my book. Those who go down a path and refuse to augment their views when needed are just automatons.

Shouldn't anyone running for office change their views to represent their potential constituants? The potential public office holders views should mean squat, my views and your views are what matters. Personally he does not turn me on in that way. But a lot of woman like balding men. I do not know that sense of humor is that important, not too much really funny (haha funny, not sick funny) going on in the world right now. I want to read his platform!

I do not know Yeager from the man in the moon, but I think I will go with Mars's assessment of things, his opinion I value and trust. I googled him to read for myself and found several diverse sites. here are two of them if anyone wants to read. One is for and one is against. I read both of them and still going with what Mars said. http://www.jamesyeager.com/proaccomp.html http://yeagerisscum.tripod.com/

I am a believer in solemn vows. I do not know about anyone else but my marriage vows mentioned good times and bad and death til you part stuff. About the only reason to leave is abuse. I have been married near twenty years and without some stick-to-it mentality I would be divorced. You got to work at marriage. And no, no one is cheating or has in my marriage. I do not lose any respect for someone who stays married.

Spot on, (lways wanted to use that expression). The two years service would not have to be military. There could be other options for serving, but certainly the majority of service would be in the military, I believe the majority would choose that option. There could be public works administration for fixing infrastructure, aiding in hospitals, maybe as simple as a trash detail, teaching etc.... There could be lots of ways to serve.

My big problem with professional actors in politcal office is it is hard to tell when they are acting. Most politicians are acting and it is obvious. I see Fred acting out the part of Big John (Days of Thunder) while sitting behind the desk in the Oval Office. It worked for Reagan, you could never tell when he was acting. I am not so sure how qualified he is to be president, not much of a Senator really. But that said it is a sad state of affairs when someone mediocre is the best choice. I hope he comes out strong and makes me want to vote for him because he has the potential for greatness, not just because he would be the lesser of the evils. The sexual orientation comment about Hillary is very low roadish. She would be a nightmare as president because of her political beliefs, no need to crack on her for other reasons.

maybe two years mandatory service should be instituted here.

Rabbi, you hit the nail on the head. Rudy is a lib masquerading as a republican.

The US can't and should not try to control other countries. Get out of the UN now. What does a gun ban have to do with this? Seperate issues. Blanket frivolous statement. If guns are illegal, basically there would be no manufacture or importation in this country. Legally owned guns would cease to exist, therefore law abiding citizens would not own guns. You still going to have guns? What are your plans for them then? I want to know. You going to risk incarceration over it? So say you keep them, where are they? Buried or in a attic somewhere? You will not be shooting them. No more range practice. How would your kids be exposed to firearms then? Are you telling me that they would be willing to risk themselves to incaceration over your illegal guns? Of course other countries may continue manufacture but the only buyers in the USA would be military, LEO and criminals. I know criminals have weapons but if criminals are the only market for sales of gun to non military and LEO how is there profit in that? Can you totally eliminate guns? No, there would always be some out there. Now riddle me this, what percentage of the US population is criminal? I am talking violent types, felonious hardcore types, not white collar crime. I don't know but I am thinking it is a very small number. These types would be the market to sell guns to. Is there really a market for them? I don't know. But certainly guns would be eliminated from the street. 100% well no, but 99+% yes. Do not confuse things and do not think I am for a gun ban. I love guns, they are important to me. I gain great enjoyment from them and to me the 1A applies to guns as well as 2A. Shooting guns to me falls under Pursuit of Happiness.

I was very curious as to the scoring of the shooting test. I scored 48/48. Not that I am good shot, heck for all I know I may have missed the target completely but given credit as the center of mass of the target was blown out. A sherrif's deputy came up and counted holes in my target and came up with my score. I can't remember how many holes I counted but I could not make definite confirmation of 48 holes. The lady shooting next to me passed with a high score. She was about 70 years old I guess and claimed to have never shot a gun before. There was one guy, very old and to me and appeared incompetent in gun handling (kind of reminded me of " the shakiest gun in the west"). He flunked. He was shooting some old looking big wheel gun. I heard the instructor tell him to hang around and they would get him passed. They were going to loan him a Ruger auto loader target gun. I honestly do not know how you flunk the thing.

East Tn TGO Members SEPTEMBER 2007 Meet
Mike.357 replied to Marswolf's topic in Events and Gatherings
I had a curveball thrown at me tonight about the 15th. I did not realize that the 15th is my grandsons birthday. I am real bad on dates. I don't see the big deal. It is not like he isn't going to be five and would even know what day it is. I suggested whatever happens for his birthday happen Sunday. Geez when you are my grandson everyday is your birthday anyway, lol. I am posturing and still trying to work it out. -
East Tn TGO Members SEPTEMBER 2007 Meet

Cody I will be happy to let you ride with me. My only hitch is I cannot confirm 100% I will be going until Sept. 13. But I am pretty sure I will be going. Let me know. -
for sure! I have not shot it since the last time at Mark's place. Looking forward to it. I bet the new finish makes it shoot sub MOA, lol. The only catch would be if something unforseen happens at my hearing on the 13th. But if all goes as I expect I will be in attendance. The way things seem to be going is that it will be re-scheduled on a later date. I am hoping it happens and gets sorted out. I'm tired of it being always in the background. And BTW. don't forget my holster!

Why is this any more a killing instrument than any other knife? Why can't a switch blade be used as a box opener? Typical dumb law I imagine.

What we already knew, and the Brits are learning...
Mike.357 replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
so no mention was made of the original seller being arrested. Was Sky News being illegal by having the gun? -
being bored yesterday I finally got around to refinishing the SKS. Of course I am short of patience and there are some flaws on it due to that. Overall I think it looks a lot nicer than it did. before pic, dull, dark standard finish with lots of scratches after pic Maple stain, clear coat finish.

You are giving the politicos too much credit, they have an agenda to be elected. If their constituents also believe in gun control this is part of the platform on which they will run. If tomorrow guns were outlawed and had to be turned in, there certainly is a percentage of lawful people who would go and turn their guns in. Now over time, say 50 years the total of guns available would drop dramatically. There would be no more sources for them and eventually they would be gone. Guns illegaly owned for those 50 years would end up in the hands of children of the original owners. These children would certainly never have shot them as they guns would be in a deep dark hole lest Dad be arrested for gun possession. These kids or other heirs would be turning them in. In 100 years maybe all guns would be out of the dark holes and off the street. I believe this is the logic the anti's push to ban even if they do not think it would take that long. Also we must keep in mind, and I am sure most of us do, that the politicos want to remain in power with their foot on our neck. If society is armed we are a direct threat to their percieved status as the superior class. Now I also realize not all politicians are among those who would have their foot on our neck. And it is up to us as voters to sort them out and elect the right kind of candidate. Back on topic, I hope Fred is one of the good guys, just not sure yet.

Sounds like about how I remember parochial school. Their rules and you agree to abide by them when you go there. To show ya how times have changed in 40 years, if i had come home with a note from the nun saying I said sexy in the 2nd grade I probably would have gotten punished by the parents. I sure don't know why they showed a pic of a monkey in womans underwear though.

to keep it on a firearm topic then I should add that the winning score and the game ending interception both came from a SHOTGUN formation , heh
