  1. If you can grip and pull with your left hand I do not see any problems with operating an auto-loader. don't screw around, look at the 1911. Welcome to the board.
  2. So ridiculous. Beyond ridiculous. Screw PC I say. :stir:The worst part is now the message boards, internet-wide will be overwhelmed with really old guys telling us all how they used to leave guns in rifle racks in school parking lots, or carry their rifle down the hall, put it in their locker and use it to squirrel hunt after school.
  3. This whole thing really gets under my skin. This is the reason I was told by the instructor ( KCSD Sgt.) to not let your weapon be exposed. I have been told by an instructor from a gun shop that having your gun seen by a LEO around here will get you slammed to the wall. This is more proof of that being true. I doubt it can be proved but I suspect that it is unnoficial policy of the KPD and KCSD to harrass us. I am also sure a lot of the LEOs feel that this is an illegal and or immoral order and do not go along with it, but there certainly must be a percentage who are anti gun. And another thing. This bs about the 2A being a right. Well is surely is not a right, you need permission to carry and a license, does not sound like a right. But let's pretend it is a right. So why does a cop have the right to disarm you, a legal licensed gun toter? He may do this no matter why he is dealing with you. Obviously the cop does not need to nor will he disarm to ease your concerns. But you must surrender yours. Why does the man make you prove yourself innocent first? Does anyone know statistics on HCP holders commiting a gun crime? I will venture a guess that it is an abnormally low percentage. The only rights I have are to be a white man and to breathe, any others are pretty iffy.
  4. Be sure to watch for a thread about the October Shoot. It is in Oak Ridge and I encourage everyone to come out for it.
  5. If Rudy is going to change his stance I would respect it more if it were for the reason that America wants a PRO-GUN president than what seems like a way to attempt to hide his true feelings.
  6. I feel you Mark, once I get home on a Friday it about takes a crane to make me move anywhere before Monday. I would want to just stay home if I had not been there in months, well maybe make the occassional trip out for dinner. I can't imagine that Sue, Tower and Julez can't make that happen, but just the same if you need something you message me and I will personally deliver it for you. Of course you have to take me to the draw to go shootin'.
  7. 1. new avatar 2. Calvin and Hobbs 3. Tower moves catlike in the deployment of his rifle, pounces in total suprise with Mr. .308 4. Cat violently attacks small child, Tower wishes he could be there to shoot the cat to defend the child. 5. UK Wildcat Mascot
  8. how often has she been in the media about guns? I cannot do it myself but does can anyone sight a pro gun actor who maybe played an anti type in a movie?
  9. What part of Knox are you in? how long you been shooting?
  10. Howdy David, welcome to TGO. Enjoy it, this place is great. Just remember you said the Glock word first:stir: (Mars' cue)
  11. personally I like Jodi Foster as an actress and have enjoyed her art in most of her movies. I also do not give two hoots about her political beliefs. I do not find it hypocritical for her to act as a vigilante and be an anti. It a job, basically. The article is laughable. It does not portray woman as I see them. Aside from the brains etc... this about made me hurl. yikes. Not a one of these woman has any sex appeal that I see. They would make good birth control, look at them lose all desire kind of thing. And i am not talking about physical appearence or power. It is their attitudes that make me shy away, or as Archie Bunker would say, " left wing pinkos" tower says :stir:Dude, from what I have seen she wins hands down, you might want to let her shoot Mark for the pistol. Well not actually shoot him , but compete in your place.
  12. I feel you bud. And the real shame is that I know my feeling are based on the actions of less than ten officers in one event. But I do not know how my attitude about it will ever be better. And none of the others did anything to make things better.
  13. I will vouch for this fact. +1 There is the proper answer. Do not have ammo and guns in your truck cab without a HCP period. And even when you do get a permit do not transport loaded rifles, ever.
  14. Mars, Cool you getting Mike hooked up here, what a great guy. He sold me my last pistol.
  15. I can't believe you have not found this place before. Hey Dude, I know you Welcome to TGO, come out shooting next month.

    Car Crashes

in my past experience with auto insurance, some companies offer forgiveness for a first claim based on how good your driving records are. The worst that they will do is knock you up twenty bucks a month or so in all likely hood. The at fault incident stays on your record for three years I think. They will eat some of it and you will too in the form of a higher premium. Personally I would not lose sleep over it.
  17. I have a SP101 in .357 Mag but it also has a hammer. I shoot the crap out of it and it is great. I do prefer to use the hammer and shoot single action as the trigger is a lot nicer. But going DA is not awful, just not a smooth. Why you want one that is hammerless? Kind of too big for a pocket gun.
  18. Mars, I was serious in my question about the chamber. I thought that was the story but I really did not know. I believe my S&W Sigma also has this feature. It is rated to shoot +P but I have not done that. Now from what I read the .40S&W round in a Glock is the problem. For whatever reason they seem to have a flaw in the design for this caliber. But the 9MM in a Glock works fine. Is it true the 1911A1 is also unsupported? And I assume this is safe because of the load carried in .45ACP? I think the moral of the story is to not use hot loads in Glocks. I am glad I neither like or dislike Glocks, helps me stay out of the arguments.
  19. I thought they used magazines. Someone define I am not sure I understand what this means.
  20. The whole thing about the holster is THP said in his statement that I took it off and put it in the truck. He also negelected to add that the pistol was found in a right hand holster. He observed me removing my holster from my left side. And no one would confuse that it was the same holster. And oddly enough the THP man was totally under control and acted professional the entire time, never expressing emotion. The half dozen or so KPD guys were acting like billy bad ass, and the other 15 or 20 cops appeared bored by the whole thing. Of the dozen I saw or I dealt with at the jail about half were professional, the other half, 4 men and two woman played grab ass behind the counter alternately chasing one another and laughing or stuffing cookies in their mouths. I am not kidding, that went on with these 6 for about three hours, it was about comical. How do some of these people get jobs as cops?
  21. The more I think about it, if I HAD known the gun was in the stinkin truck I would have said NO for sure. What was he going to do, arrest me anyway?
  22. I did not care if they searched the vehicle, I just wanted the owner of it to make that decision. He was about a block away and probably would have consented, I never asked him as the point was moot anyway. I also do not hold animosity towards my brother for allowing the search. The only animosity I have is over being arrested and having to prove myself innocent. The state never had to prove anything. It was assumed I was guilty. I am not a man of a lot of means but I was able to scrape up enough to hire the best attorney in knoxville. Someone with no means at all would more than likely have been found guilty.
  23. Thanks Mark for letting us sling lead and throw brass on your place. You really do need to work on expansion of that lantern collection. Or was it build a wing on the house to hold them all ? We did work for our keep though, taking down a tree with a few mid to high caliber chainsaws. Tower summed up the shoot pretty well with his description.
  24. Too bad you can't make it Mars, I hope to meet up with you someday. I am not quite there as far as hating Glocks and maybe you can help push me over the edge:stir: Ask them bad bands if they play any songs they know.
  25. Bingo! My lawyer told me it would be dropped after a brief conversation he had with the prosecutor right before the hearing. I was called up in front of the judge and he asked if I agreed to the dismissal. (I mean duh!!!!!! I understand he legally had to ask I guess, but what a dumb question. Did he think I would rather keep the charge and go to trial?) I replied "yes Sir, Thank You". Had my bail money back within about 20 minutes and then outta there. My lawyer is now working to have the charge expunged. I guess I will be good to go once that happens. They said about thirty days. I paid my attorney to have this charge go away, that is what he is doing. Other than that if I wanted him to help me seek some restitution I am guessing I would have to bring up that subject and also pay him more money. I seriously doubt he works off a percentage. I doubt he needs to deal with a case like that. I think trying to get a financial gain out of this woud be like beating a dead horse. The horse ain't moving so why put out the effort. It would be near impossible to prove. I am with you here totally. The only 2nd ammendment right you have is whatever the cop you are dealing with that moment says you have. IMHO Cops do what they want and it is up to you to try to sort it out afterwards. If it was a Right there would be no hoops to jump through or hassles like this.
