What if 20 million illegal aliens went back home to Mexico
Mike.357 replied to a topic in General Chat
I think that it depends on where you reside. When we lived in S. Fla there was plenty of talks of illegals. Only they were not referring to mexicans. Illegals there are understood to mean Haitians and Cubans. And there are different Federal rules on those two groups as to who is allowed to stay here. Haitians who make it onto the beach can stay, Cubans cannot. -
I have a Sigma in 9mm. It is a nice gun and I would not hesitate to recommend it to someone. As for the trigger I agree it is heavy but I do not see it as a big deal. Run a box or two of ammo through it and it is very easy to get used to. I have dry fired a .40 and the trigger was lighter than my 9mm. Also I took my HCP class with the 9mm and shot a perfect 48/48, so I would say it is accurate as well. Some have posted that it is heavy, not true. I carry mine often and it does not weigh me down. The only thing that would make it heavy is the standard capacity 16 round magazines it came with. Certainly feels lighter than any other handgun I have. Maybe one of the FFL's here can post actual weight of popular handguns for comparison. Someone posted about field stripping. I can break the gun down to four pieces in about 5 seconds, maybe less. It is easier to strip than a 1911 imho. I have about 1700 rounds through it and it has not one time failed to feed, eject or go bang when I pull the trigger. I can't say that for any other auto loader I have. For the price you are getting and the free mags it is a no brainer to buy it. I don't know about that mini Sigma. I do not want a pistol without a slide lock, and especially I do not want one that does not lock back after the last round.

Metal, did you get printed on the same day?

Finally I am out of the grasp of the man. :D:D Some of you may recall I was arrested back in June for illegally possessing a weapon with intent to go armed. My attorney fairly easily convinced the DA here in Knox that I was doing no such thing. Really there was no evidence that I was anyway other than a pistol being in a truck. Well that's here nor there as the charges were dismissed on agreement. Basically that means they had nothing on me and I agreed to that fact. Anyway I received a court order on Monday to have the evidence released to me. Today I went to the THP branch on Kingston Pk in west Knoxville and was given back two holsters, 13 rounds, 1 magazine and S&W pistol. Ah the irony of it all. The pistol I was accused of possessing belonged to my nephew. He legally owns the gun and has a valid carry permit from Ohio. So anyway, I get arrested and have to deal with this crap to prove that the gun was not mine or in my posession on June 16. And what does the great state of Tennessee think should be done with the gun? Well of course they decided that it should be given to me. So now they have given me something they arrested me for having to begin with. How is that for irony? I am arrested for having a gun, the DA thinks it is a waste of time and not provable and then the judge gives me back the gun that I never possessed in the first place. Makes me really shake my head and say WTF!

Unless you are hurting for money I vote for don't sell. Once it is gone it is gone forever. And in case you haven't noticed, they don't make no more land. If you want to be a nice guy to your neighbor you could always lease the land to him or even just set something up so his stock could graze there but you would still own it. Land would be something nice to leave to the kids. It's what I hope to do with the little bit I have. Oops, did not estimate the value and that is what you were asking. I am guessing $15,000 an acre is more for a site that someone wants to build a home on, something with frontage to a street. $5000 for something on a hill maybe wooded and not really for development. I would thing your might be worth about $8000. But then I am not in real estate either. I still say keep it.

What would the penalty be for being caught carrying a loaded gun into a guns show. Either bypassing the guncheck station or from reloading once inside?
-
I assume you mean more than one mistake as you say they missed eight answers and surely would have missed a ninth had you not "helped " them. Why would you do this? Doesn't this open you up to liability? Goodness, Stevie Wonder probably could pass the thing. The written part is easier than the shooting part. Another common sense solution.

East Tn TGO Members NOVEMBER 2007 Meet
Mike.357 replied to Marswolf's topic in Events and Gatherings
Dotson, the Vandy game will be basically meaningless after Ark hands UT their hat this weekend. And if by some chance UT beats Arkansas then I think the Vandy game would be on TV. I agree about sports being enjoyed live. I can't watch something once I know the outcome, even if my team won Hope you decide to come out for the shoot. -
will a brita water filter de-salinate?

I can't believe we do not have a heater in one of ours. Usually the wife is all over that kind of stuff. All you need now is some sort of pump for it and it would be a bird jacuzzi.

Frank you gotta admit that sounds like something McCarthy or Schuler would say. Substitute gun for safety and I bet one of them did say it already.
-
I think you have now reached a new level with this. Rape is not sex.

I am not a fan of child porn, I say this up front. But I would like to see a better definition of this kids child porn. Was it an 8 year old or his 15 year old girlfriend? 8 year old is child porn here, 15 year old girlfriend is not in this instance.

Cody, what happened to you? email and phone calls are your friend. Make sure you communicate better before the shoot on the 17th. You are welcome to ride with me if you need to, just gotta let me know and make firm plans. We missed you though. Mark showed me the ins and outs of using a Lee Loader. That is definitely a skill all shooters should have. The loaders are inexpensive and work great albeit a little slow. I am looking into getting another caliber now. (Mark, I made about 100 .357 rounds yesterday, it took a few hours but I was taking my time and trying to be careful. I did find that if I do not use the flairing tool there is a chance the casing will tear while inserting the bullet. I had three of those happen.) I want to try loading some rifle rounds next. Mark also introduced me to the joys of shooting a Garand and a K-31. I am not sure which was a sweeter shooter. I saw one of the prize packs for the .22 contest, wow, is all I can say! Everyone needs to make their plans to come out. The range is looking good and it will be a fun time. For those that do not know how to get there from Knox we can meet and carpool or caravan up that morning. It is a ninety minute trip and a scenic drive to get to Mark's place. -
ETS , that beanie baby comment about made me spit pepsi out. I see everyones point about guns at gun shows. I guess if my choice is to attend disarmed or to not attend one, I will choose to risk it all and go unarmed. I love gunshows. Sometimes to have a little fun you gotta live on the edge. And I do get a chuckle out of the people open carrying at them especially since I now know their guns are empty. I always thought of "cowboy" when seeing these types. More seriously what prevents a yokel carrying a gun from reloading it once inside the gates? I like Mars suggestion, sounds like common sense.

Mar's took me a second to see that, lol. I was admiring how you have creek rock in the bird bath.

There you have it. Spot on. tlooney, where are you proposing carry?

Fred Thompson - Meet the Press - Nov 4, 2007
Mike.357 replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I believe his comments are consistent with a Federalist ideology. What I see he said is that he would leave it a local matter. And more importantly is what he did not say. Notice he did not say he was against it. You think Guiliani or the Dem's would have answered in a manner that Fred did? You know darn well they would have come out dead set against it. -
Rabbi, what? So are you saying if someone is going to beat you that you will just let them? Are you saying people have no right to hold their hand up to deflect a blow by an attacker? I can't believe it , I gotta be missing something here, gonna go back and re-reread this thing.

Eddie I am not on your side here. First you mention CHL's. Maybe I am splitting hairs but no one else on this site talks about CHL's, in TN it is a HCP. Second you mention While I would prefer to not need a permit I hardly call it a hassle. Free would be better but it is not a hassle.Three What is there to agree or disagree about? They did not express opinion, they used statistics to tell what we all know already and that is middle class white guys have permits. Fourth, Where are you coming up With this stuff? Where is any attempt to show much of anything? Speak for yourself, I do not see the members of this site as fish. No body here went off the deep end. Put a few extra layers of foil in you hat, maybe then you will feel better. yikes

Just goes to show there is no accounting for taste

+1 Seems rather hypocritical to ban loaded guns and carry permits at a GUNSHOW! What is to stop someone from loading their gun once they are in the doors?
