    1911 question

yep bang it hard with the butt of your hand to seat it.  Even in my lowlife RI it takes a stout smack to seat an 8 rounder.
  2. keep an eye out for their Four Oak. I have not seen it lately, I am sure it will come around again though. IIRC it is about 100 beans a bottle. And just as a heads up for anyone, if you see Blanton's, buy it, and Elmer T Lee buy it. Next to impossible to get now from wholesalers. Just about anything coming from Buffalo Trace ( aside from BT) is going to be allocated, They are trying to copy Van Winkle and drive demand and price by limiting release.
  3.     have never had Whistle Pig,  We don't carry it.   Rye whiskies are making a big comeback.  Ten years ago we sold Old Overholt.  Now that is no longer on our shelves.  I might give Bulleit Rye a try if I was forced to choose.   I am not paying 75 bucks for a bottle of much of anything.
  4. a lot of people seem to forget what today is about,  It is a lot more than cookouts, beer and old war movies.
  5.     did he really cite no gun buster sign on the back door as the reason they were robbed?   Too funny!
  6. yeas,  no rapid fire and no loud talking.
  7. I can't recall all that is in t his thread and I ain't re-reading it.   Watched an old movie last night on Netflix.  I do remember seeing it from the back seat of a 61 Impala back in the day at the drive in.   It is titled "Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison".  Starred Robert Mitchum.  The story is basically a Marine in WW2 whose transport was torpedoed.  He drifted in a raft until washing up on an island only inhabited by a Nun.  the island became occupied by Jap's.  The story is about their survival and his actions towards the end when the US invaded.  A true classic.
  8. I avoid that place like it is an STD.   Actually saw OS and 70Below get chastised for talking too loudly because "people are trying to shoot".   I found the RSO's to be know it alls and extremely over bearing.
  9. at least now if someone asks me if I have ever been to a Chipotle I can give them a reason as to why not other than just shrugging my shoulders and say burritos aren't on my food radar.   And I am sure criminals will honor their no guns signage.
  10. never let the seller determine the meet up spot,  always do it in plain daylight in a very public place.
  11. Dawn dishwashing detergent.  It kills oil and grease
  12. wouldn't it kill the Polar bear behind the tree?
  13. dang I thought it was a video about .22 hoarders   It was equally disgusting anyway
  14. yeah I doubt that manufacturers care who gets the ammo as long as they get the profit.   All I know is every round of .22 I shoot cannot be replaced.
  15. best wishes and condolences sent your families way Doc
  16. I shave about three times a week.  boss does not seem to mind some stubble.    I use a twin blade something or other.  they are green and gray in color. Costs about ten bucks for ten of them.  I use them forever.  Probably 8 or 10 months for the pack at least.  I always get the Ladies version,  definitely works better,  dunno why.   No shaving cream,  I have never used the stuff.  I just run the razor under water and have at it.   When done I rinse the blades with cold water and blow on it to get the water back out.   I have been thinking about getting a safety razor and a pack of blades and see how that works.
  17. never been shot, only dropped once
  18. a couple of years ago the grandfather of a coworker died.  When they were cleaning out his house they found a bunch of .38 Special's and .357 Magnum's.  He gave them all to me.  Was over 500 rounds iirc.  All were reloads his grandfather had made.     I have shot a lot of them.  They are about as accurate as any rounds I have ever shot.      My co worker had told me previously about his grandpaws passion for guns and reloading.   I use them without hesitation.
  19. people ought to learn to use such words as lose/loose correctly before moving to multi-syllabic words
  20. not much going on Sunday afternoon.   It was about as empty as I have ever seen one.  Not much buying going on either it appeared.   One vendor I have not seen before had a great setup of military weapons,  most dating to WW2.   I doubt he sold much but then at those prices he doesn't need to.  It was nice to look at anyway.   Saw a lot of bulk .22. Between 60 and 80 bucks.  I did not see anyone buying any.   One lucky guy found a Glenfield Model 60 at a very fair price.  It was an older 18 shot model.  Very nice. :)   It was nice to see David, and as always he put a smile on a young mans face,  thank you.
  21. if the gun was legally confiscated he will need a court order to get it back.     I doubt the sheriff's office is just gonna hand it over.
  22.   that is about a 40 dollar half pint.
  23. David is in the back right corner of the building.   I am going Sunday afternoon with my oldest grandson and a couple of the usuals
