  1. which gun are you talking about Brandon?
  2. Classy comments there dude. Hy, I commend you for trying to make a difference. Yes it is a shame it did not work out but at least you did something. All too often people complain and then do nothing, and that I have no respect for.
  3. Would God protect from a potential bullet? Not to go off on the religious thing either but I do not think God will intervene. God provides you with a method of protection, it is up to you to exercise it. Wrong forum, try http://www.tndipspitters.com
  4. I have been waiting for this to hit the fan once again.
  5. Welcome to TGO and when you make the move here be sure to bring some Skyline for me! yum
  6. Out of curiosity I went and dug out my copy of the HCP certification. It made no mention of any score, written test or shooting test but it did note what handgun I took the class with. I wonder why they note the particular gun if TN law has no preference over what handgun you carry. Interesting.
  7. That he says this impresses me a lot. He should have said this in his ad, not the Fudd like statement from Norris. If he is on our ballot he stands a chance of garnering my vote. I just went an reviewed his website and his stand on a myriad of issues. he really sounds like a good candidate. Certainly better than Rudy and the witch of the east.
  8. James, I think you would be approved. Basically if you can buy a gun legally you should be able to get a HCP. Being on disability is not the same as being adjudicated of being mentally defective. Call TDOS or maybe speak to an attorney versed in carry laws in TN if possible. i am going to PM you with a name of a guy I know on the net who is an attorney, I bet he would answer this for you. And the costs of getting the permit for me was right at $200 between the class and the state fee.
  9. no need to feel this way here. We are all with you! Lots of us have divulged a lot of info about our situations and no one was ever belittled for it. And really everyone when it comes down to it is very supportive of one another here. We get into arguments from time to time but this place is full of love. Call TDOS Monday if it has been over a month since you applied.
  10. Sorry, I was getting on a roll and no telling where it might have headed off to:doh: I believe I also mispoke when I said DA instead of attorny when referring to a civil action. right, I totally agree Nitrous you talk about tactical classes, I see that more as training where as the thing about learning to shoot a new gun is a different story. Really any training is a good thing. But I do not see paying to "learn" to shoot a new gun as training, well it is training but an individual could accomplish the same result just by spending time on the range as opposed to spending money for a new weapon qualification class. I think we all agree that they are in business to turn a profit and that is all they are trying to do here. Totally agree, if anything I believe they will turn it against you. If it is deemed a clean shoot you will have proved that, no qualification necessary. I disagree. In my HCP class I took my target home, I am not sure there is a recorded score anywhere. It was scored as pass / fail only as far as what the instructor recorded. and BTW everyone Happy Thanksgiving!
  11. Cody pick up a box of 50 .40S&W and take the ICE with my Hi-Point. WalMart has them for under $10 for 50. My bet is you will pass. Get the 50 for the test and I will bring 50 for you to practice with first. hmmm what caliber for reindeer? J/K everyone. Rudolph needs no bullet holes.
  12. certainly we as homeowners are not in the same league as chain stores. But compared to many we are the wealthy. I must have misread your original intention. My house is a dump ,lol. Worth more as land than as a home. not in the same league as a Haslem. not necassarily. I know about the Castle Laws. but what about civil liability? Certainly taking a class with your (insert gun name here) will make you bait for the DA. Does a criminal charge really make a difference?
  13. The Double rifle rifle would be nice as a toy, but Bill is right. The Bolt rifle totally trumps a Double rifle.

    New toys!

Canyn I throw this out. you say when cash permits there will be spice. Doesn't your 9VE actually handle all that is necessary? Any other gun you buy will be spice. Just a thought. My whole train of thought in gun purchases was get a good defense gun. the 9VE covered that. Then it was get a bigger caliber, the .40S&W covered that. Then it was get a wheel gun in an adequate caliber, the .357 covered that. Then it was I want, once I got to I want I was screwed, lol. Now there is no turning back. yikes! Dude you gotta come out shooting so we can meet.
  15. this definitely falls under Col Cooper's four rules, particularly knowing what your target is and what is beyond it.
  16. Intentions may change. This is a HUGE HOLE, for sure big enough to drive a Mack truck though. If this is an actual law, and not some ATF interpretation there is a lot of doubt in a face to face sale. tadams you have raised some great points.
  17. I really think the thing about candidates and the perennial talk about how they are pro 2A because they are hunters has merit. What do the rest of you all think about this? Personally I think it is BS and 2A has nothing to do with hunting. The man wants to keep us down and really does not give a crap about thugs and criminals in spite of all the feel good legislation proposed about gun control. All the man cares about is keeping his elected office. To hell with the rest of us!
  18. Mike I am laughing so hard i am crying about the Boom shotty mention. I swear I am dying here, lol, lmao!! Brandon what did you ever do about that? I was afraid when I saw your post that you had a class going on for the 15th. can't wait for the third Saturday in December and our potential of shooting Santa and his reindeer. j/k no one is gonna shoot Santa,m dunno about Rudolph. C.A.S. what is the fruit for December? Mike, do we need firewood are are you all flush with some?
  19. agree 100% Something I just thought of. Dave we have a lot of common gound on a lot of subjects. Lets throw a Virginia Tech into the mix. what if you are "helping the situation", you take out the killer but a bullet passes through and hits an innocent. what is your take on what might happen? certainly you have stopped a situation from becoming potentially worse but also you have added to the body count. Any of us as homeowners qualify for the deep pocket thing. Canyn what about taking this class and then becoming proficient in shooting someone? I am not talking about a bystander but rather the bad guy. What will the DA say about you having taken a class making you more proficient with this 9mm? I think this is a great topic and we are are learning a lot from this discussion. and if no one else has ever said it, I love this forum!
  20. what would the basis of law be here? TN does not require you do this so there is no standard for having to do it.
  21. I tell you it does not bother me really having brass flying past my nose. I guess at my age I grew up in an era where left handed people were given no real options. Them little desks in High School were all righties, nun's used to smack me to try and make me write right handed. Until the last ten or twenty years forget finding decent sporting goods for lefties. I do have one left handed bolt action .22 rifle that I bought just because I had not seen one before. I am glad to read that the military lets us right brained people do what is natural.

I don't know about some 2.7 round. Dang for that much a round I think I will skip that one. I am not going to base all my gun purchases on some SHTF scenario either. And if SHTF I doubt I would be arming anyone else lest they turn around and use it on me. Mostly I buy the guns I have for the enjoyment of shooting them. But to each their own. To me it would get boring quickly just shooting 9mm, or just shooting , 45ACP. There has to be some spice so throw in the .40S&W and some .357mags too. I enjoy shooting rounds that kick like a mule as well as enjoy shooting rounds that don't. But like I said to each his own. Variety is the spice of life. Most of the guns I have I doubt I would ever carry them (HCP style anyway), for me one or two is more than sufficient. the others are "just for fun" shooting.
  23. What bugged me about the ad was the fact that our 2A rights are safe with Huckabee because he is a hunter. If the freakin politicians do not understand that 2A is NOT about hunting what chance do we stand if they are elected? So what my bolt action rifle is safe, what about my non sporting guns I have?
  24. Don't know if this is the proper forum or not for this. How does the US military treat left handed shooters when using long guns? Do they allow lefty shooting or does a southpaw have to conform to a right handed manner of shooting?
