here is an idea. Do away with carry permits. Do away with BS gun laws that only enable the criminals. Leave people the hell alone to live their life. In other words anyone, can carry anywhere.

Here are the two stories that ran in the News Sentinel about camera getting shot . Someone started talking about it in another thread and I thought it to be off topic so hence the new topic here. Worth looking at the first one to see the smirking pic of the idiot that is accused of shooting. It says he is charges with felony vandalism. Is all he can get for that a $50 fine? Of course he will not be a legal gun owner anymore I suppose. jcramin, the dude shot in a residential area, no telling where those rounds landed. I think it is worth prosecuting. The look on the perps face tells me he is not right in the head. Some people do not need to own guns. from Mondays paper When police pulled Clark's vehicle over, they found a .30-06-caliber deer rifle on the floor of the minivan. "He stated he didn't want to say what he was doing there because he didn't want to get into trouble," said Lt. Bob Wooldridge, a KPD spokesman. Upon further investigation, they discovered that the traffic camera had three bullet holes in its camera box. Clark, of Wildercliff Lane, was arrested on charges of felony vandalism and reckless endangerment. The rifle was seized by police. http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2007/no...-light-camera/ todays newspaper A red light camera along Broadway that was disabled by several rounds from a hunting rifle is fixed and should be snapping pictures of violators by 3 p.m. today, according to Knoxville Police Department spokesman Darrell DeBusk. http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2007/no...camera-ticket/

Sarah, first let me be clear on something. A revolver that is a .357magnum will fire a .38 special. A revolver that is a .38special will not handle a .357magnum. The magnum casing (the brass part) is tooo long. Be clear on this. It works one way, not the other. Do not blame yourself for the negligent discharge, that blame lies squarely on the ass-hat that put it in your hand. Learn from it but not blame yourself. Be sure to post about your experience with the class you are taking Saturday.

I'll chime in here. first off you do not need to get a .357magnum or .40S&W for protection. There was no real reason for you to have shot a .45. What gun shop did you go to? Makes me question their credibility to have you shoot that .45 I blame the gunshop for your negligent discharge. If I read correclty you shot into the ground. The ground is generally a safe place to have the gun pointed in case a negligent discharge happens. They were fools for putting that gun in your hand without ample training. for self defense you are not getting a lot of protection from a .22. Read :a waste of your money for the purpose you want it for. Shooting a firearm is not meant to be a comfortable thing for everyone. You will need to get used to the noise and recoil. Remember you are interested in a firearm for protection. Fun is a big reason a lot of us here shoot. Fun does not have to be your reason. A handgun for self defense boils down to shot placement more than ballistics. With a .357magnum you can shoot .38 specials. .38's will have less noise and recoil. The .38 round properly placed will stop a bad guy, every bit as much as a larger, noiser, larger recoiling round will. The 9mm or the .38 special in my humble opinion is what you should be looking at. There is a multitude of these calibers available from manufacturers. Perceived recoil and noise from the 9mm and .38 special is generally very acceptable when speaking of firearms. Smith and Wesson makes very good lightweight revolvers that will shoot .38 specials. There are tons of 9mm auto loading handguns available as well. Speak with the people at your class Saturday. you are taking that class??? The teachers there will give you valuable input and be able to explain things very well for you. Good Luck.

no real need to answer this, heh

What Bkelm asks? Anyone know?

I wish I had done that. I am real paranoid about losing it as I put it in my pocket when out of the truck and then clip it back to the visor when I get back in the truck. A duplicate would really have simplified things.

How does that work? My BS arrest was dismissed and the record may take up to six months to be expunged? And that is with a high dollar lawyer handling the thing.

Rabbi i would be careful about taking tacticool SKS's in trade. Seems they do not always function like they should when an aftermarket magazine is added.

Hi Point Carbines, the 995 and 4095. They retail around $200 NIB give or take $25 bucks. They are EBR's by looking at them just no big dollar price tag.

East Tn TGO Members DECEMBER 2007 Meet

our shoots are way better than a hooters. Last month in Kingsport we had a .22 target contest along with and open shoot and cookout. We also made fruit salad with apples and some 12 gauge shot. The last time in Oak Ridge we did the ICE qualification as well as skeet shooting, repelling a pumpkin attack and of course a cook out. Plenty of open shooting as well. Anybody interested in shooting could not help but have fun at our get togethers. -

The Blazing Saddles quotes crack me up. I think the working up a #6 is about my favorite. I doubt they could make a movie like that again with all the PC baloney there is now days. No way would there be a # 6 in one. Raping the sh*t out of woman is rarely funny but in that movie the line is great. I wonder what happens when they work up a #1 through #5, lol I think that depends on what pistol you are trying to shoot -
I am very sorry to read this James. Look into what you can do to rectify this situation. Don't get down on yourself about it either. I believe you are misspeaking here. There are other option for defense at this point, just the carrying of a gun is not one of them yet.

spring worn out maybe?? I have and RIA that fails to go to battery once in a while and that is one of many suggestions I was given.

(cowboys eating beans and being gasious.) [at the campfire] Lyle: How 'bout more beans, Mr. Taggart? Taggart: [fans his hat in the air] I'd say you had enough! And so Rabbi does not feel left out Taggart: I got it. Hedley Lamarr: What? Taggart: Let's kill every first born male child in Rock Ridge. Hedley Lamarr: Nah, too Jewish. -
Difference in National Park Rules?
Mike.357 replied to waynesan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
jgrauman what I meant was that even with a HCP you cannot carry in a national park, in a national park your car is not defendable like your home is. Does that make any better sense? Not arguing here. -
Glocks and Colts in the same post, blasphemy.

Difference in National Park Rules?
Mike.357 replied to waynesan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I cannot cite a law but in TN your car and your home are not the same things. I was under the impression that in SMNP you could have a gun seperated from ammo and stored in the trunk. -
How do you know this? the total of HCP's in TN is less that 1% of registered voters. I am not sure that qualifies as a large vote. If all HCP holders boycotted on premise eateries I doubt the bottom line in those places would even be effected. 2,739,000 voters as of 2004 (http://www.statemaster.com/graph/gov_200_tot_reg_vot-2004-election-total-registered-voters ) It does not bother me even a little bit to not go to a "on premise" restaurant. There are plenty of other options. And I know this will not be a popular opinion here but I really could care less about that law.

Mars I am with you on this. I smell a troll and it stinks.
