East Tn TGO Members DECEMBER 2007 Meet
Mike.357 replied to Marswolf's topic in Events and Gatherings
Today was another great Pow-Wow with the fellow members of the TGO Eastern Band tribe. It was a rootin-tootin-shootin good time! We got started right around 10 AM with a whole shebang of open shooting. And in short order it was a full blown shooting match. Branket won the ICE qualifer. I am not sure but I think he qualified as an illegal alien. At least I know he was caught on film wearing a sombrero. Ben, CAS and Mom of CAS participated. As far as I could tell there was a bunch of sharp shooting going on in this event. We had the Ball Busting event in pistol, rimfire rifle and centerfire rifle. Winners of each were awarded certificates of excelence. All in all there were a lot of bruised and shot up balls. Scott proved that sites on a rifle are strictly optional. Dotsun knocked the most feathers off of the clay pidgeons scoring a perfect 10 of 10. There was steel plate shooting and paper plate shooting going on at one of the other firing points. It was nice to have newcomers JamesMB and BenS. I had not met Branket before and it was an honor to be showered by his brass on the rifle line. Literally I took a few off the face before deciding to move my firing position in the Big Bore catagory of Ball Busting. Was also great to meet WarEagle and shoot his new toy. Still not sure where Rabbi hid the cylinder on that AK. No rain until we were just about done for the day anyway. And those little showers did not dampen anyones enthusiasm. Thanks Phantom6 for hosting us, it was a great event once again. And to all of you who chose to stay home Hope to see you next time! PS: It is all about the Dorito's (Official snack food of TGO shoots) -
Hey, leave me out of the fight. I am all about some love but I think if somehow I end up in a fist fight and I am about to die from it I will shoot the bastard and take my chances with John Law and jail. And who is to say I agreed to the fist fight. Not my fault the other guy started something and did not bring a gun.

Oh contrare, concealed is concealed my friend!

is that actually possible with a Glock? I understand what you mean but isn't the term reserved for weapons with safeties?
-
what is the difference between officers and regular 1911's?

did not look like a clean shoot to me. I think she will be arrested and have all kinds of liability issues.

Buy a handgun in Illinois and take it home to Chicago???
Mike.357 replied to waynesan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I do not believe it is illegal for a resident of Chicago to buy a handgun. Only illegal for them to store it in their residence inside city limits. I would never assume like this newscast did that all handguns purchased by residents of Chicago are stored in their residence. I am not naive, no doubt some of these handguns are stored inside city limits. -
He must have been using a Glock

East Tn TGO Members DECEMBER 2007 Meet
Mike.357 replied to Marswolf's topic in Events and Gatherings
If it is not douching rain in the morning I will be there. I caught a bit of a cold earlier this week but I ain't skeered. A little rain does not hurt guns. Leaving them in a soaking wet condition at the end of the day is what will cause problems. If rain hurt guns then wars could never be fought. Heck I hear Glocks like rain, the more the better. Not that I have a Glock but I seen pictures of 'em. -
I don't think this site is about being a patriot. When I joined I was under the impression that it was a place to meet like minded individuals as far as shooting, enjoying guns and RKBA. Sometimes threads end up similar to this. By that I mean not shooting related. Patriotism is fine. I would dare so most of us here are people with varying amounts of patriotism. But the site certainly is not restricted to just those types of people. No reason to go away and no reason to not start non-topic threads here in the off topic area.

Does whoever takes care of the roads in Knox County know something I don't? They have already put brine down on Tazewell Pk. Are we supposed to get snow and ice? -
If I have no money, how does the gov't screwing up effect my money? My mortgage rate is fixed and they don't make any more land. I am good to go.

in spite of the forecast, historically it does not rain on our shoots. -
I only go to places that are mug free zones.

Would this only apply to someone who was killed or inured only if they or their loved had a carry permit and was unable to carry? I am not sure how this would all work. As it is now you could still sue over the gun free zone being negligent. I find this very confusing.<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

How would anyone collect on this? Say there is a shooting in a gun free zone. Someone is killed, a person or loved one without a carry permit. How do you go about proving that it being a gun free zone caused the death?

Swish?? I thought I was fairly worldly. Never heard that one. Isn't fag an older term for a cigarette? What if there was a bill that contained both of these? Would you be for it?

The title of this thread is not really true. Ever have a 5 year old come up and hit you in the nads? I am pretty sure that little bugger is classified as a weapon.

You booted guys just have junky PC's I am guessing. I never get booted either at home or work. There have been several times where I did not close my browser and I have been logged in here for more than a day.

Colorado Security Guard Makes Statement
Mike.357 replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
No implication. Not much you can do in that circumstance. What happened immediately following the robbery is what was really scary. Thug #1 ran out the door with all the money. Thug #2 walked out the door with his shotgun then almost instantly came back in the doors. I really believed at that moment he was coming back to kill me and my co-worker. If at that time I had a handgun I like to believe in the time he walked out and came back in I would have had it out and shot him dead. There would have been enough time to have unconcealed a handgun and had it out before he came back in, maybe 3 seconds or so. The stupid moron cut a phone line and walked back out the door. Duh, like a place of business only has one telephone. Must have been 8 phones in that store. So to cut a phone line he would have been shot. Sorry for the confusion about me pulling a gun while a shotty was stuck in my nose. And to top it all off when they finally arrested these two, it turns out they were both minors. Obviously they did not read the sign that said "No Minors" allowed inside. They had robbed about 10 liquor stores in a month long spree. When finally arrested and charged they were only charged with one count. Charged as adults. They got 8 years for that one count. I protested to the DA about the deal but it went to no avail. -
The world ends tomorrow, 12:57 AM Seriously, end of world talk has been going on since the beginning of time. 2HOW, you asked if we are prepared, well I turn it back at you. Are you prepared? What have you done to be prepared? What are you preparing for?

Colorado Security Guard Makes Statement
Mike.357 replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Thanks for the input Mars. I like to think I could act anyway. Back when I was robbed by the shotgun wielding twosome I know I have never been more scared than I was at that instance. I definetly made fellow co-workers nervous after that by keeping a .750 size bottle of liquor next to me on the counter. No, not for drinking but it was going to be my first line of defense should a gun come through the front door of the liquor store again. I know in my heart I would have grabbed it and used it the next time. Maybe that tells me something. I sure hope to never have to find out. I do need to work on the training thing some more. -
I subscribe to Guns and Ammo and also get American Rifleman. Since it only comes out quarterly I will pick up a Guns of the Old West when I see it. If you are going to read any of them the affordable way is to subscribe. I think my G&A subscription was only about $10 for a year. I do not consider the cost of American Rifleman, there is an added bonus getting that.
