  1. Thanks for all your help Eddie, have a safe and fun trip!
  2. Thanks Eddie, I saved. Have you had a chance to fire the RIA since your parts replacement?
  3. Am I the only one who read the signage while worded wrong was not visible? If that store was so concerned with keeping guns out of the door the sign should be posted a little more prominently. And here is a small tip when purchasing in liquor stores. Ask for a discount before they start ringing you up, and if you know another store has a product cheaper then ask for a price match. Around here most stores will accomodate you in this manner. If they will not discount me or price match I will not go there anymore.
  4. Eddie, I looked at the gunsprings site and was having no luck finding the sear spring. Do you still have a link for the one you ordered for your RIA?
  5. Thank You IM. My point exactly.
  6. How in the world are you or anyone else supposed to see a hidden sign, even if the wording was correct. I am assuming he went ahead and made the sale to you. I am in a lot of liquor stores in the course of a normal week. I rarely see signs saying no guns are allowed. Of course a lot of them I am using a back door so the bans would not apply to me if I was carrying.
  7. Boom, you shoot just fine! Like I said I hear claims of shooting MOA or even sub MOA but I have never seen anyone do it firsthand. That said I will say that with all the guys we have shot with no one sucked. Everyone had made a good showing of marksmanship. I am just not seeing 1 inch groups. For me shooting any handgun and getting 10 of 10 inside the black part of a standard target makes me happy. Even if I did see someone shoot MOA I would not be impressed unless they were doing it with iron sights and shooting offhand.
  8. As far as I am concerned these people set the standard for gun repair customer service. never heard anything but good things and my first hand experience was an A+++++++
  9. Did you get the sear spring too Dave?
  10. I shoot minute of barn door and am damn proud of it! And Canyn, it has been my experience that shooters who claim to shoot sub MOA or there about actually do not shoot that well. Now please, no one here who makes that claim do not take offense to my comments. Maybe you are the exception to what I have seen firsthand. To me shooting MOA or sub MOA means nothing. Mostly i think it is a reference to shooting off a rest. But then again I don't no anything anyway, and minute of barn door works for me.

    How many?

think you got that backward Rabbi, lol.
  12. I am more than willing to lend a helping hand. But like I said in an earlier post, what is the point of going up there if it is only people from Knoxville being there? I guess we will hammer this out before the date falls on us.
  13. Thanks for the info Eddie. I guess it means I will be ordering some more springs, LOL Oddly enough it did not do it until after the gun was gunked up. I also wondered how it was chambering the round and not leaving the hammer in firing position. I guess you explained it pretty well. Dave, here is the link I have to the Wolff Springs. http://www.gunsprings.com/Resources/welcomeNOF.html
  14. If you are going to base your vote on a candidates stand on gun control the only real choices are Huckabee or Paul. Pretty much all the others won't give a clear answer or are outright in favor of grabbing guns.
  15. 23% for me. And there were several questions that I preferred none of the answers, like the one about action heroes. John Wayne should have been an option.
  16. Pretty stupid taking a knife to school. The rules may suck but they are in place and a ten year old will know about that rule. Hopefully it does not go on her permanent record. When I was a kid in school that threat was always hung over your head if you did something wrong.
  17. I want a generator real bad. So that is what I would go with. Mainly it would be used for camping and other outdoor activities where electricity would come in handy. And in a time of need during a power outage it could run some basic things here around the house like the fridge and some lights. If you decide on the generator look at Honda's. They are regarded as the best and I know for a fact they are pretty darn quiet. This is my first Christmas at the company i work for now, I am not expecting any bonus.
  18. I'll put in my 2 cents worth here. Since Mark is not going to be in Kingsport and Tower will not know until about that time there is not much point in trying to plan something up there. If Elliott is going to be there for sure then ok, but since he is not whats the point? I certainly am not going to be a part of impossing on Marks wife. While she is very nice and I consider her a friend she does not actively participate in the shoot, and therefore should not have to deal with people being there. Not to speak for Phantom6 but I mentioned this scenario to him yesterday and he said we could shoot in Oak Ridge again in January. In the interest of people being able to make plans I think we should go ahead and make a plan for being in Oak Ridge on January 19. If it works out to go to Kingsport in February that is fine and we could do that then. I for one am very appreciative of the effort it takes to put on a group shoot. And I believe everyone is very thankful for the efforts put forth by our hosts at these events. In the last three events we have had a organized series of competitions. While these are great fun it is not required. I believe everyone in attendance would have just as much fun with an open shoot. Bring some targets, pin 'em up and shoot what you brung. With that opinion I aim to take any unwanted pressure off of our hosts and any stress they may feel in trying to come up with an agenda. As for Coal Creek or the place in Sevier, personally I do not hear good things about Coal Creek, dunno about Sevier but I prefer shooting outside. Also I do not particularly care to drive to Tri-Cities to shoot with people who live here near Knoxville. If more people from Tri-Cities were involved it would work better. So far at all the shoots in Kingsport it has been basically only been Elliott and or Mark from there. Like I wrote earlier if Elliott can commit to being there then I am all for it. But if not then why go there to do something I can do here. As for meals, we always seem to have food involved. And not just Doritos. Anyway that is my 2 cents on this. If I am wrong someone tell me so.
  19. I seriously doubt anyone can do anything that will make anti-gun lawmakers change their views. These are educated intelligent people. They darn well know that their restricting gun laws make no difference. The laws are about the appearance of a difference to the sheeple who keep electing them. People who refuse to believe truth and facts about gun laws want to feel safe. It is all about illusion, not about actual safety. Go ahead and remove every single gun from Chicago, shut down every gun shop in a 500 mile radius of Chicago. I can't prove it but I will guess within a day there will be illegal guns returning to the area in the hands of thugs and criminal types. There is no way to actually accomplish the goals of the anti's. Making guns and possession of guns illegal only makes law abiding citizens potential criminals.
  20. Have not seen Mark on here in a month nearly. I believe he will be at sea and Tower will be up on a Tower somewhere. Not much point in coming up if they are not there. No one else from Tri-Cities comes to these shoots anyway.
  21. Thanks Elliott, I recieved the parts on Friday and installed them Friday night. Test shooting the gun yesterday yeilded very favorable results. I had no failures to go to battery in the 150 rounds I shot. I have never gone that many without an FTB before. A new problem surfaced. On several occassions on the last 50 rounds the gun cycled fine, went to battery, but only half cocked the hammer. I am attributing that to a dirty gun and my slightly underpowered home rolled rounds. The spring I installed was a Wolff 18.5 lb spring. I am thinking maybe that 18.5 lbs attributed in a part to the gun not fully cocking the hammer. Maybe it is a little too stiff to allow the slide to go all the way to the rear. My attempt to adjust this was to trim a very small bit off the end of the recoil spring. I took about 5/16 of an inch or a little less of wire off the end of the spring. I am assuming this will lesson the tension a tad. Next time I shoot I will watch to see what results were gained from this. The new spring coil is at least two inches longer than the original spring coil was. The 5/16 I removed was about 1/3 to 1/2 half of a coil.
  22. Whether the odds are small or large is not important. Should you be the victim of an armed robbery the odds greatly increase that you or a loved one will be significantly harmed. By that I mean as opposed to not be a victim of an armed robbery. Think of carrying a gun for self defense as a small chance you will need it, but a very good chance it would greatly impact your life should it happen. What are the odds you will be in a car wreck? Very small I am guessing but we still wear seatbelts and have insurance just in case.
  23. here is the link, not gonna post them in this thread individually http://www.tngunowners.com/photos/showgallery.php?cat=519&ppuser=
  24. There have been a few comments about signing agreements with employers. I do not believe signing a form that says you will not work as a competitor or for a competitor for XX amount of days is enforcable. as for signing a handbook, it really does not mean anything. In TN they can fire you anyway for any and or no reason. And if the company I am working for is waiting to get rich of my intellectual property they will be bankrupt. Mar's, I believe the librarian thing
