Obama statement on gun violence
Mike.357 replied to 2000silverz28's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
that living document stuff pisses me off. Why can't people just read the words and abide by what they clearly say. where did this living document stuff come from? -
I am not sure I understand what you mean by "rods". I also am not sure about "silver buffed off." Maybe that part is just worn ?? Have you look at the Hi Road subforum for black powder? That is a great place for info about cap and ball revolvers. There are several very knowledgable guys who post regularly. here is a link http://www.thehighroad.org/forumdisplay.php?f=12 It is very hard to find a smith who will work on those guns. The cost of the labor may be prohibitive. But I would not give up on it. I have a '51 Navy that was out of service and I found a man there who fixed it for me. I learned a lot about internal operation of the gun from that site. if I knew more about the rod thing and what the gun actually will or won't do I might be able to help you some. Yours might be a simple fix.

Angry parents push for gun control
Mike.357 replied to strickj's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
King Richard is proposing new tougher laws on semi auto assault weapons and .50 cal rifles. Now riddle me this. How many killings in Chicago were committed with semi auto assault rifles and .50 cal weapons? Why doesn't anyone call him out on this? I would love to see him shouted down when he starts making a speech using this retoric. -
Best thing that could happen, the mud she will sling will dirty both her and Obama.

Proposed Gun Laws Now Being Considered in TN

employers have a right to decide what can and can't be on their property, just the same as I can decide whether or not you can carry a gun on my property. I respect and agree with that. If you feel you need to work for someone who will allow you to carry at work or on their property then find work at a place like that. I did. if a law is enacted to allow your car to be an extension of your home, which is how I believe what you are talking about would work. In this case the interior or trunk of your car is not considered to be on company property, but an extension of you home. There are states that allow this I think. But for example setting your gun on the roof would be on their property. Does that make sense? -

off topic really but the entire Chicagoland area was a marsh at one time. There is still a lot of marshland and lakes there. Probaly why there was a large Indian population way back when. Aside from crappy gun laws the area is not a bad place to live. A little over populated I think, and that is why we took our oppurtunity to leave. But there is no shortage of things to do there. -
Wolf .40 S&W FMJ 180GR........any good?
Mike.357 replied to 2000silverz28's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I have used one box of .40S&W and it would not run in my gun. But I use Wolf in 7.62X39, have used it in 9mm and .45acp without trouble. It is kind of dirty but really no worse than anything else. My box of .40 was probably a fluke. -

My plans change right up to the time I make the puchase, lol. Can't make up my mind. I think the next will be a 1873 Nickel plated, single action, 4.75 in. bbl in .357mag/.38special. Probably going to move the SP101 to help finance this. So if anyone is interested... Just waiting on Phantom's FFL to come through, so until then there is no telling what I will decide on. And of course I would like another cap and ball revolver.

I commend this guy on what he is doing, but he is not guilty and ought to not feel guilty. I worked part time retail in a liquor store. We had a customer we called "Postal Pete". He would come in every day as soon as the store opened purchasing multiple bottles of vodka miniatures. Over the couple of years I saw him it was easily visible that he was drinking himself to death. he was an older guy and was not drunk when he came in at 9 AM so it was legal to sell to him. I questioned why we continued selling him booze as everyone could see what was happening. I was told what he was doing was legal, and if he did not get it here he would get it somewhere else. And of course that was correct. The murderers would have bought their guns and accessories somewhere anyway. It was not Eric Thompsons place to review every transaction for sanity. Someone hell bent on drinking themselve to death, or someone who is going to become a shooter will do it anyway.

I agree that it comes with responsibility. But it is not my place or anyone elses to decide what that is. When carry permits were first discussed was there not talk of blood in the streets? Did it happen? There are laws in place that would make people accountable for their actions. Sometimes the cost of freedom is not free. Just because people have guns does not mean they will shoot. Some will I am sure, but there are laws to deal with them. -
Best wishes to the family in this terrible time, a real shame. I hope we all learn something here. 1 and 2 I abide by, but not 3 and 4. Follow 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 take care of themselves. Just saying..

Any standard you devise. Setting standards is arbitrary. I have no doubt a standard can be made for proficiency you cannot pass. You ought to just come out and admit you favor gun control. I assume pretty much everyone here appreciates your activism. But to me it seems very hypocritical when you say your favor proficiency standards ( ie:tests) to carry a handgun. So someone is not a good shot, at least not up to what you think is good enough. B.S. Everyone is entitled. Driving tests and flying tests are hardly the same thing as self defense. It is not even worth arguing that point. I just saw and read Brians post (great post btw) so there is really not much point in me covering his ground. He said it pretty well. 2how you are wrong. No two ways about it. Your's is an elitist stance and I will have none of it. I will defend your right to say as you wish but I will not defend your line of reasoning. -

So, if i read this correctly not everyone is entitled to a mode of self defense of their choosing. Just those that meet your standards. Now what if someone else gets to set the standards and you do not meet them? This is what gun control is all about. Shame, shame, shame. Everyone is entitled, it is a God goven right to defend yourself. Man makes rules. -

my guess is that this will never happen, but they will allow the sale and transfer if you pay a huge tax, like buying full auto now. That way the wealthy elitist types will still be able to do as they wish. Just us low lifes will be effected. -
i might have better luck at Lane Bryant.

if that van was a pontiac I would be all over it.

I use the Lee Loader and find it very efficient. This with using a Lee priming tool is very cost effective. I doubt the Lee Loader is any more time consuming than a single stage press.
