  1. I had to run out to WalMart just before and I checked the price on WWB .38's. was just under 30 bucks for a 100 pack. You are right about the reloading costs. Currently I am using jacketed bullets to reload for .38/.357 and the round come out to about 11 cents based on 1000 rounds.
  2. I am fixing to go out and shoot for a while but as I sit here Winchester '73 just came on the Encore Western channel. They just showed a scene featuring Shelly Winters. Dag gone she was a fine looking woman in 1950. Wow!! okay, now back to your regularly scheduled gun board stuff
  3. I am left handed but carry on the right side. The reason for this is being in the car it would be near impossible to draw left handed and get a aim at COM with the gun in my left hand. This of course a car jacking scenario. So because of this the gun now feels better on my right side and I doubt this will ever change, well except for at the range when shooting single action revolvers. When I do practice drawing and firing the first shot or two is from the right hand in a point shooting manner, when the gun comes up into a two handed grip I switch to left handed shooting. It all feels very natural to me now. I am sure though some of you more able gunnies can point out how what I am doing is wrong. For the most part I always practice shooting using both eyes. for me it was not hard to learn this skill.
  4. where is that place? When I lived in Florida I worked at an exclusive country club that was gated and had armed guards patrolling the grounds and manning the gates. There was still a couple of home invasion type crimes in the seven years I was there. Crime can be anywhere, your zip code does not preclude you. Kind of foolish to have a gun for self defense but not have it handy, even in ones home.
  5. chambered is the only way to go. Glock bashing starts because Glock owners get too defensive over their weapon choice and then the dam bursts. My Sigma is pretty much like a Glock but no one really bashes them. My revolvers either have five round capacity or are single action. I do not feel undergunned with them and of course they are chambered multiple times! How about BP for self defense?
  6. sounds about right. Last time I bought WWB in .38special at WalMart it was something like $23/100. That was back in late summer. I don't doubt that with price increases 30 bucks is correct now.
  7. unbelievable, now wooden stage guns are so dangerous that they must not only be cut in half but also not used. If this was not sad it would be funny.
  8. Anyone comes down my driveway they are going to see me on the porch armed before they ever get out of their car. Not much foot traffic when you live 200 yards off the road. If they are on foot they are liable to brandished upon. No one outside of the UPS man ( I'll shoot Fed Ex on general principle, j/k Canyn) or mail man has any business coming down my driveway or setting foot on my land. My mother in law needs a muffler so I know it if she is coming, lol. I am not tolerating someone scoping my house out.
  9. Nice to see you able to log in for a post or two Mark. I hope your tour of duty is going good! I look foward to seeing you when you get back home. Did you ever get that deck set up before you left? No telling what Sue will have lined up for you this time, lol.
  10. You can have mine, you get the bullets first
  11. How did you turn a punch in to a hand and spring? Oh, I bet the peg on the hand broke.
  12. If I were to buy a Glock I would carry with one in the chamber because thats how Dotson rolls and he is my idol!
  13. I ain't shooting silos unless the keg is nearby.
  14. Montana is not going anywhere, Heller is not going to change much irregardless of how it is decided. Mars had it right.
  15. If it is a steel frame it should still be quite shootable if the barrel pin is fixed. May well still shoot fin with only one pin. the barrel wedge will hold it in place pretty well with one pin I think. I love these guns. I get so much more pleasure from them than cartridge guns. Dirtier, and more tedious but more gun fun. Nothing like the smell of fresh burnt powder! I think an 1860 Army will be my next cap and ball. Going to stick with the .44 cal platform. Unless i find a nice 51 Rebel Navy first.
  16. If I had a .36 cal I would be wanting that. Maybe someone here can use it.
  17. I do not understand, what is that?
  18. impossible for this action to happen. No point in carrying a gun that's not chambered and ready to go. Murphys law will happen here. you will need it and either forget to chamber the round or you will not have time to chamber the round before a BG is on top of you. As a cure for your fear of this I suggest you carry around your house 24/7 over the weekend (unloaded if you must) and you will see(most likely) that the gun did not go off on its own.
  19. did they do house to house sweeps in Australia and England?
  20. SH I was hoping you would join in on this. I remember reading posts where it seems you have BP revolver knowledge. I agree that if it is a vintage Colt to leave it as is and never shoot it again. With how affordable '51 and '60 Navys are from Pietta I would maybe even leave a Colt from the 1970's alone. Did Colt make the Navy in a brass frame in the 70's? I am almost guessing the OPs revolver is brass frame. Really do not know though. The diagram you posted does not show part numbers for the barrel pins. Makes me wonder if they are readily replacable. I know after the trouble and money I have put in to my '51 that money pit is over. Next repair to it will be to replace it, lol. I figure I could have bought 2 news ones by now. I might just make a wall hanger out of it anyway.
  21. Pretty funny reading really, well aside from a drought. Do you also realize half of Memphis would also end up in Mississippi if the re-bordered the state on the 35th parallel? I think Georgia will not let up on this and will sue over it. I doubt they really want the real estate but rather their goal being to have access to the Tn. river and water. I bet if TN offered them a pipeline they would stop trying to landgrab and would take the offer. I dare say that is their goal. What is in it for Tennesseans?
  22. Me guesses that if somehow this seccession was pulled off they would not allow a lot of migration to their state. Can you imagine all the gun owners trying to move there? The place would be over run. I also guess that it is not going to happen, Montana starting their own country and all.
  23. They could have the guns I still possess I suppose. But the rifle and hangun I sold face to face at a gun show last month are gone. I guess they will just have to take my word on that I agree with MLTN that it will not happen in one big swoop overnight. We will have advance warning about it. I also guess there would be a time frame where they ask you to voluntarily bring your guns in. Just remember a vote for Obama will keep your hunting rifles safe. After all he is not after them.
  24. all these technical terms are confusing me, LOL. if it is one of the barrel pins I am guessing that is not a hard fix. If the old one can be removed a new part can be ordered and put into the frame. I bet the pins do not cost more than 2 or 3 dollars. probably less than that.
  25. just like both of my Rugers
