  1. Am i the only one on here who did not feel inconvenienced or put upon having to take a class to get the permit? Mine lasted about nine hours or a little more. I totally enjoyed the experience and would not have minded at all if it had gone another day and had involved a lot more range time.
  2. So how does one go about killing an 870?
  3. Hoping for the best, got elderly parents too.
  4. Well today was the day. I got home early and seeing as the weather is fairly nice I decided to go outside and blast a few rounds with the 1851 Navy and the SP101 .357 mag. No issues with the Navy. That gun is a hoot to throw lead with. But while shooting my .357 reloads I started in on a fresh cylinder load and fired the first round, BANG, the second round, pop. Immediately I was thinking WTF! I stopped what I was doing and ejected all five casings/cartridges and sure enough three loaded rounds and two empty casings. I looked at the forcing cone and oh yeah there sat a bullet just about 1/16 of an inch past the cone. Good God I am thankful I was not blasting away and pulled that trigger one more time. I think the outcome would have not been good. Took the gun back into the house and using a drill bit with the smooth end towards the bullet I tapped the little bugger out. I am pretty sure if I want to I can re-use the bullet. end result is no harm, no foul, but it sure could have been ugly. Good news is that I went back out to finish shooting and was throwing three shot groups with the .357 that would have fit inside a quarter. I had one three shot group that a nickel would have covered. My best shooting ever with that pistol from 10 feet.
  5. We meeting and eating or just meeting and shooting?
  6. We don't want his kind here.
  7. I did not know Jews got drunk on some of their holidays, cool! I thought it was just us cross backs who did that.
  8. No reason to fill out any forms for a private sale. There are no laws requiring it.
  9. Now Mars we all know it could not possibly have been a .45. A .45 would have blown him out of the chair and deposited his gray matter all over the wall. Must have been a 1911 with a Ciena conversion on it.
  10. Glocks=No Soul
  11. you mean woman have boobies and nipples? I bet Joe Brown was shocked to find this out. Good Lord, it is the American Dream to go to titty bars, it's part of every young mans right of passage. What will they do next? Try to ban guns?
  12. none of this is any surprise, except for maybe them not killing off 702 yet. I see it as being on life support and the plug will be pulled at their earliest convenience. Nothing to see here, move along.
  13. you can't shoot skeet with one of those, lol just a waste of expensive shotgun shells
  14. Bourbon is whisky, Scotch is whisky, Sour Mash is whisky, its all whisky. Tennessee Whisky is Sour Mash like bourbon. The big difference between Jack Daniels(sour mash) and Jim Beam(bourbon) is the extra filtering that Jack Daniels goes through. JD is filtered through charcoaled white oak. Then put in a charred oak barrel to age. Beam just goes from distillation right into the barrels. This seems to preserve the sour mash flavor that JD is famous for and allows the Beam to take on mellowed tones and a carmel like finish. In case you really wondered.
  15. what do you need so many guns for anyway?
  16. hadn't had to do no killin' yit. But I's hopeful that somun needin' killin' will present hisself to me. Soon as I meet somun needin' killin' I will be doin' it. If'n not today there is always tomorra
  17. What is wrong with being a liberal? Isn't the root for that word something like LIBERTY? I am pretty sure I am in favor of liberty. The media has scewed the meaning of this word.
  18. why does being a "redneck" have to be a put down? I can think of a lot worse things to be.
  19. where are the donuts? Congrat's, nice pic. Father and son cops are old school.
  20. can you say Hi-Point? But my fav is Uberti
  21. I wish I had made an offer on your grenade.
  22. if I described those symptoms pertaining to me I would call it a hangover! Glocks have no soul. really that is the trouble with them.
  23. what, no pictures?
  24. Yall missed it, we had a great time yesterday! Even the rain delay did not dampen the event. The pop-up canopy kept us dry and we told lies, examined firearms and got to spend some time together. I was able to chrono two black powder loads. The '58 Remington was sailing lead at an average 846 fps using 30 gr fff and a .454 ball. The '51 Navy was a bit slower as expected with only 780 fps due to the 20 grain load and a .451 ball. Either way it is plenty potent. Besides that it is hard to top the spark and smoke show that comes with shooting these types of guns. Joe it was nice meeting/shooting with you. That HK is sweet. Dotsuns AK was a shooter! And we got to make fun of his AR, so that was good! Just kidding they are both nice rifles. For me personally the hi-lite of the day was shooting Mars' .38 S&W. I never thought I would shoot a near 100 year old gun, it was a real moment. The trigger pull is the heaviest I have ever felt, its pretty stout, but still the gun would stay on sight as it actioned. We all got to go through Marswolf's traveling gun show box of goodies. I think we all scored something. I got a unbelievable bipod that fits perfect on the Savage bolt rifle I was sighting in yesterday. There was all kinds of great stuff. It was a big day
  25. debatable at best boatman is right about getting out right at the checkered flag. Be ready to get up and move as soon as the white flag flies and at checkers get moving. It is your only hope to get out of there. Or you can not worry about it and except it will be a couple of hours before traffic is rolling. I would rather have makings for a cookout before and after the race. (Don't waste your money on really crappy track food.) Just chill out a while and enjoy the rest of the day. You can get better deals from the souvenier trailers after the race. Me and Dotsun saw carloads and truckloads of race dorks headed up there this morning. Made me wish I had a seat.
