  1. Here is a pic of my 1851 Gunnison and Griswald knock off, bastard caliber being its in .44 but still awesome to shoot. Was next to free from Cabelas. Works great with 20 grains of fff and #11 Remington caps. I can use a little Instant Grits as a filler between ball and powder, or not. The filler gets the ball closer to the forcing cone and makes the gun more accurate, but it is not a requirement. A little Crisco over the ball and it is good to go. This one is a Pietta. the grip is slighty larger than the grip on my 51 Navy made by Armi San Marco. It is even notched on the grip frame for adding on a shoulder stock,
  2. The force is calling you Gunslinger, it is best to answer the call. The best part of it is you can order a top of the line revolver and with some shopping around keep it under $200. Try that with a cartridge revolver. For under $300 you can get a steel frame Remington and a spare cylinder from a place like EMF. You can find cheaper deals at places like Cabellas. But some of the places like EMF, Taylors and Cimmaron hold the manufacturers to high standards. My Remmy came from EMF and it is the nicest revolver I own, and my '51 was dirt cheap from Cabellas and is a heck of a shooter. There is nothing to not love about percussion revolvers. That picture Mark posted is driving me wild, man I wants one of them bad. If I did not have four other C&B's already I know the order would have been placed. I am trying my hardest to hold out for a .22 pump in stainless. LOL
  3. 4 guns and you are complete? You are sick. :screwy:You are sadly missing in several areas. I see no revolver, no .22, no bolt rifle. Seriously, how can you even say you are complete without these pieces?
  4. someplace very hot must have just froze over. So where does the cylinder go on that piece? Oy
  5. my trip to get black powder tomorrow fell through. I can get Pyrodex around here. It works fine and all. But it is not quite the same thing. I have a few ounces of the holy black left and I will save it for next week. But the end result will be the same, big boom, lots of spark and smoke. Lead flying downrange. Its all good.
  6. Glad to see you guys are getting in the spirit of things. Mark that fluted cylinder revolver is beautiful. I love blued metal like that. Looks great. I dunno about doing them kits, I do not have enough patience for them. XD you will be hooked now, lol. feel free to ask questions. I am sure you will have them. One thing to consider for sure is a good set of screw drivers. I am not talking about the kind for working on cars or what not. But screwdrivers specific for gun work. Hollow ground I believe they are called. Your black powder revolver will need to be taken down each time it is shot. You will be suprised at the gunk that builds up inside the action of the gun. But hot water and dish soap works great for cleaning, Crisco or olive oil is where its at for oiling. Avoid Dino oils at all costs. I am going to check out that link Mark, God help me with what I am guessing I will find, LOL
  7. LMAO was thinking the same thing. the DA does not get to appeal, LOL
  8. I made a month last night, it gets easier to stick with it every day now. I even had some beers the last couple of nights and I did not get any strange urges to go and smoke. I really believe that I am done with them. Can't predict the future but I don't see myself smoking again. Get this. My bosses Dad has an office in our facility. Dunno why, I gues it is a courtesy for the old fart. Family stuff anyway and I really do not care. The guy is a geaser, 80 some odd years old. He smokes. Like three times a day. The lady in the office has quit smoking too. The is about one week behind me. But she is doing great too. Cold turkey for her as well as me. So yesterday the old dude is asking her how it is going. She says just fine, three weeks no smoking. He actually said that you can't quit cold turkey. The way to quit is to keep on smoking a few times a day, then you can be done with it. I about choked. ( hmmm, the way to quit is to keep on smoking, LOL. ) Apparently he as been smoking for 60 some years but I have heard him tell people he does not smoke. He does not count his three a day as still smoking.
  9. Not to speak for Mark but we have pretty much shot any conventional firearm there. If you are planning on bringing an 88mm I say COOL, but Mark might say something else. we have shot all sorts of Milsurp, sport utility weapons, big revolvers and small ones too. My preferences are anything that throws lead and goes bang!
  10. Does a patrol officer have to comply with this request? As for the rest of everything, Honestly I see both sides of the story here. I do not want my rights trampled on either. But simply informing the cop I have a valid permit and am armed is not the same as allowing a search of the vehicle or home without a warrant. Would you comply at a DUI checkpoint where they pull over every fifth car? Or would you simply ignore this request as they have no valid reason or suspicion that you are operating a vehicle while drunk or high on drugs? Dang, if my simple gesture of telling a cop can make a situation easier I am going to do it. From what I read, most of the time it seems you get let go with a warning. That and I figure the guy who taught my class knows what he is talking about. But if they want my fishing license because I have a pole in the truck they are out of luck. I don't have one. But they can see my PADI card if it matters.
  11. hoooo boy I agree with this. You do not even want to be the clerk in some big box store and not give me attention or service. I will bring the house down upon you. If you are a clerk in a gun shop, well I assume the owner knows and approves of your behavior and I will not give you two cents of my business again.
  12. which one Eddie, own up??
  13. I can't wait for next week. Semi finals and all. I don't see how the Broadway woman made it into the semi's. Don't see how she will make it into the finals. If Jason Taylor's partner wore any less clothing she might as well be but naked out there. And that dude's hands are so big that he grabs her in inappropriate places all the time. Kind of funny.
  14. to owning a Glock. All you Glock supporters have been chiming in, and I would say that most were not just full of coolade. So lets hear the other point of view. Whats the downside to owning a Glock?
  15. It is not a sickness, you are getting well!
  16. scantily clad does not equate to hot. Background and story line make it better. C'mon Dave drink the
  17. dude you are a slug, a drain on life. You first reaction is along the lines of " lets see how I can screw someone over today and then try to make out on my stupidity" Crawl back into the hole you came out of. You are not welcome in my life anymore.
  18. your killing me Dave, I am willing to bet Cheryl has you watching. Plenty enough reason to watch!
  19. What makes a Glock "all that"? Seriously? I don't want to hear the Glock "Perfection" crap. what makes one so great? Assuming you can't answer the original question what makes it better than a Sigma? Both are pretty much the same design and the Sigma costs substantially less. I have shot one (Glock), I was not really impressed. I was expecting this revalation about it and, well to be honest I was disappointed. It was okay, but that is it, just okay. so seriously what makes a Glock so great? Sell me on it. I am not a Glock hater as such. Just not sure what it is all about.
  20. if thinking Julianne Hough is hot makes me gay show me where the line is to smoke pole.

    a good plinker???

real men plink with single action revolvers. Go cheap with a Heritage or get heirloom quality with a Ruger.
  23. Voldemort, the more I read your posts the more I am convinced you are a troll or an idiot. big difference between telling a patrol officer you have a HCP and letting a cop search your home. Good God, what planet do you come from? What rock have you crawled out from under? Do me a favor, if by some chance you are coming to one of our gatherings please let me know. I do not want to be in the same county as you if I can help it. Mods, Is there an ignore feature on this website?
  24. I am not sure but what does it hurt to offer up your carry permit? I mean really, what does it hurt? Give me a good reason to not tell them. If it makes the cop feel better about the entire thing it may well help me not get written. Besides all that I took my class from a Knox County Sheriff and he said to speak up about it right off. I think i will follow his advice.
