We should pick an over/under finish spot for him each week. Hmm Darlington, crappy car. I see him around 31st. Over or under? The one good thing about him is his wife is moking hot, and they need to show her more often

Okay, I will skip the balls for you then. I can just pay you cash for the powder dispenser. i don't think the place I get them at has .375 lead. -

the octagonal barrel on that .31 is reminiscent of the '51 Navy and its shape. You know I picked up some rolling papers a couple of months ago to try making cartridges with. Now don't you know that of all the ones the store had to choose from I picked some that do not have glue on the edges. Pretty much useless. I will try to remember to pick up a pack of JoB 1.5 papers. I think the 1.5 will make it easier for a beginner like me to try this with. and the guy I get balls from is wearing me out with this. They did not come in again this week. I am starting to get irritated with it. I spoke to him today and he promised me the guy in Chattanooga(his supplier) swore they shipped out yesterday. If so they will be in his store Monday. I am going to buy all he has assuming they come in. Anyway it sounds like a definite possible maybe that they will be there Monday. I tried to talk my wife into coming along but she and her mom have plans Saturday. Also not sure if I am going to do the camping thing or not. Not much point if'n I am the only one around. -

Either one would be a nice choice. I am preferential to the Remmy but I have Colts as well. I am really just a big fan of how easy it is to remove the cylinder on the '58. I have two percussion cylinders and one cartridge cylinder for mine. Load them all up and to me the shooting is more pleasurable. Pretty much when I am shooting the percussion revolvers I load everything up at the same time. Sometimes I pull the barrel and cylinder on the Colt Navys sometimes I use the loading lever. -

Wow Mark, that is a nice looking piece there. Uberti? I wonder how practical the short loading lever is? Being .36 cal I am guessing it is usable. But it might be worthwhile to use some sort of cylinder loading platform. does it have a front site? If so I am guessing it is a brass nub? -

wood on a blued gun, rubber on a stainless or un-blued finish.

I think your times are wrong Mars. My TV schedule shows Fox's overblown coverage starting at 7 pm. I called the track and was told green flag is at 7:20. so based on that I will tune in at 7:20:05 so I can miss big mouth Waltrip stroking his own ego.

Passengers with HCP and car gets pulled over
Mike.357 replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Did this ONE TIME about 30 years ago. First time I had ever been pulled over as a driver. Cop pulled on me and screamed get back in the car. I did as he ordered and have never thought to get out of the car again. -
Passengers with HCP and car gets pulled over
Mike.357 replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
If I was a passenger in a vehicle that had been pulled over and the cop asked if there were any weapons in the car I would speak up. It is very possible that the driver may not know I am armed and that driver may well not have a permit and be into guns. So if the cops specifically asks I will speak up, Other than that I am just a passenger and am not the reason we were pulled over. -
you really need to get a pic of that guy should he come back

this thread is very entertaining. Though many posts are flat out DQ'd as off topic. The question at hand is downside to a Glock. More than a couple of posts are flaunting the things. I had another thread for those comments. Nate pointed out what is the purpose of this? What is the downside to it. Mark made a great post or two in regards to the downside of a Glock. I love the "disposapistols" word. Good terminology. A lot of people mention as a downside the grip angle. Maybe I am different in this regard but don't all guns have slightly different grip angles? My personal preference is for the angle of a 1851 Colt. Is the Glock grip angle flatter? That would seem awkward. i have only shot one magazine through a Glock. and to say the leazt it left me rather unimpressed. More of a blah kind of feeling. I think the comment " Glock has no soul" sums them up fairly well, where as a 1911 is all about some soul. anyway I enjoyed this thread

while I enjoyed reading this thread I admit there is not much new here. Seems you either drink the KoolAde or you don't. Iam still not sure what makes one better than the S&W Sigma. About all I have heard is the Sigma trigger sucks. And I disagree with that opinion. They smooth out nicely and it is not an issue. I say you all failed in this task. I do not see it worth the extra expense to buy a Glock. Sounds like a decent but over priced firearm. And I still am clueless about their number code. All in all the thread has been interesting.

Spend more than you can afford on a good attorney. Tell the attorney the truth as you remember it and then keep your freakin mouth shut. The attorney will tell you what to say. If there is no witness or video evidence of you bringing a gun into play then it did not happen. When in legal trouble what you are paying for with an attorney is for the attorney's relationship with the court. Thats why I say overspend on an attorney. This relationship alone can have more bearing on outcome of cases more so than facts of the case or actual truth. I have to agree with Verbal, you should have just drove off. Hindsight is 20-20 too.

That pistol would look downright outstanding with silver plate. How much actual silver do you think it would take? I have never blued anything before. I have removed bluing on the 51 Navy from ASM. Looks pretty darn good in white steel. Just need to keep it wiped down a bit with some light oil. -
And I have been carrying a .357 revolver to be more like you. Now I am just confused.

Gunslinger, Cabelas has nice enough stuff. I am not sure really what the differences are between what they sell and what some of the other retailers sell. I have read that some of the others hold the manufacturers to higher standards as to fit and finish. My only comparison is the Remington from EMF and the Reb Navy from Cabelas. Both are Pietta. I will say that the Pietta from EMF is better in fit and finish. But the one from Cabelas is not shabby at all. The only flaw was in the edges of the grip where it met the frame near the hammer. I easily smoothed these out though so it was of no matter. Now the Uberti which I bought through Cabelas is real nice. I am not sure how it could have been better if bought from one of the more "Elite" suppliers. The Uberti 1873 is excellent in fit and finish. The action of the revolver is exceptional too. About the only flaw I see is that the front sight needs to be filed down some. But I work on how much of the front sight sits above the frame while I aim it. I am not sure I want to go removing metal from it. I do not know if this is still true but for a while Cabelas was offering the '58 Remington in steel frame for $169. Regualrly 199. Might be worth calling and asking if the Remmy is what you were leaning toward. If you were looking at a Colt you might like this one. the 1851 NAVY in .44 with case hardened frame. Price is pretty decent. http://www.possibleshop.com/cap-ball-closeout.htm IMHO it would be worth is over a $139 piece from Cabelas. I believe the Traditions guns are made by Pietta. -
Unlike most of you on this board I have very few friends here in Tennessee. That has been part of the price paid for relocating around the country several times with career moves to improve financial and life situations. Going to these monthly shoots is about the extent of my social life. Yes I do get excited about it. Especially so in this case as there are others going to be there who share my interest in black powder and also whose company I very much enjoy. I did not mean to be over the top about something I am looking forward to and will enjoy very much. The .454 balls are in trade for a powder measure Mark has ordered for me.

Nate you need to add pics of them other guns, they sounds like nice ones, especially the Winchester. Would love to see that one. Looks like you had my list covered!

if they made some fully black powder I would expand my list.

need to see the link for pho ivory grips saloon girl might look good on my Navy, LOL so do you think that Iossol will make a difference after a bunch of lead has been through the barrel? Aside from making is shiny does it make the gun more accurate? I wonder why the manufacturer does not mention it? I trust that authors opinion. I believe I know who you speak of from THR. I am suprised I did not see that on there. I am guessing it is on the sticky on their BP subforum. I will have to go and look later on when I get home. -
I feel you Grout, I am pretty much done with buying new guns. I only need one more rifle, and then maybe one more revolver. Not even sure about the revolver. I just counted them up and have 14 guns, shotgun, 30 cal bolt rifle, 30 cal semi auto,.22 bolt, .22 semi auto, .22 lever action, .45acp semi handgun, .357 revolver, 9mm semi auto, .22 single action revolver, 4 black powder revolvers (and that is overkill). Aside from the pump .22 there is nothing i need, maybe a semi auto .22 handgun???. I am blessed though that I have someone to leave them too. PS: I do need a flintlock rifle in case of anarchy and ammo being impossible to acquire. I can always knap flints, make BP and mold lead.

I am good on powders. I have about a quarter pound of black (bowing as I type that out), near half a pound of Pinnacle and half a pound of Pyro. I will have your 200 .454 balls too! Gonna pick them up tomorrow.

This is a new one to me, explain what you mean, I always just load them up and shoot them. Well aside from cleaning the packing oil off first.
