  1. Mark thanks for having us on your range today! It was a truly wonderful day. Joe, Matt and Jennifer it was very nice meeting you all and I look forward to shooting with you all again in the future. Jennifer don't forget to post ALL the pics on that camera. To all of you who chose to not attend you missed out on a great day of shooting and friendship. It was great seeing everyone again and I look forward to the next time we can all be together.
  2. do you think Mexican's are proud to be American's?
  3. I echo the sentiment about Gander Mtn, not sure who they are selling too. But someone must be buying. I never been the that turd Uselton's place but I reckon his is bad news too, especially considering his view on things. I dunno about the Crowder's Crack and Guns. I bought a pistol from them and got a GREAT price. Maybe I was the exceptions though, I have heard you need to cash and carry there, no layaway as they might sell it out from under you.
  4. nice looking .22 Tower. I have seen the cabinet it is sitting on before, LOL I am bringing a couple .22 rifles as well as the percussion stuff. see ya in the AM
  5. Do you know what that is?
  6. I just spoke to Cody. If any of the rest of you decide to go and want to carpool or caravan we are meeting at the Shell gas station on Washington Pike off of I-640 eastbound. Get off the exit, light at intersection is Washington Pk, Shell station is to the right. Meeting time is 8:45 at the Shell station. as I told Mark I would try to get up there a bit early and help with some weed-eating. If anyone needs to call me my cell number is 865-228-8451. Call before 11pm tonight or after 8 am Saturday.
  7. I looked at the link to Marlin. I did not know that now they only have a 14 round tubular magazine. My old one holds 17, 18 if you count the one in the chamber. From the looks of the pic it appears they shortened the barrel a bit too. Here is a not so great pic of mine.
  8. now don't hold me to this, but I believe if you take the first two numbers and subtract them from 100 it will tell you the year it was made. For example the first two serial numbers on my Glenfield Marlin Model 60 is 22. Subtract that from 100 and it gives you 78. My rifle was made in 1978 as a matter of fact. But I believe I read the subtraction thing somewhere else as well. Now I don't know how you account for one made in the current century.
  9. when did they stop allowing the charging handle to be pushed in to lock it open? everyone I have seen has this feature.
  10. would love to have one of these [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GITZItSk5fM&feature=related[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-b3W4gfJ6I&feature=related][/ame]
  11. should we make a black powder rocket for your launcher to keep in the spirit of things?
  12. Mars, you gonna make it? Anyone else?
  13. has it locked open manually before? Are you pushing the charging handle in after you pull it to the rear? I don't believe they lock open on the last shot. Mine doesn't but maybe they have added that feature in the last 30 years. here is a handy link for anyone who has a Model 60 http://www.castbullet.com/misc/m60.htm
  14. everybody but you knew, hahAHa
  15. I am going to hold off on deciding about camping until I see the weather tomorrow and when I'll get done at work. If I get done early enough and the weather is breaking I may show up and pitch a tent. Gathering camping gear will take all of five minutes as I am always prepared with that stuff. if no camping I will be up as early as I can Saturday morning to help with some weedeating.
  16. One of the swivel cannons would look awesome on the deck!! I am sure Sue would be pleased I think you need a big field piece out in the yard!
  17. Sweet Elliott!! I know you were wanting a handgun to compliment the rifle. Maybe that is what you got!! I am also glad you did not go off and buy a percussion revolver before going home for this weekend. Mark was worried you were going to get one on your own first. sorry to read about the death in you inlaws family. I hope you will still be able to be at the shoot Saturday.
  18. too easy, video games did not make you stupid or ignorant. Your generation has not had the oppurtunity to do a thing to date. The fault lies with my generation who has done everything they could do to make your life easier and better than ours. A mistake but a mistake with good intentions.
  19. gotta love the good old days and a 31 day wait
  20. Mark you may like this http://blackpowder-cannons.com/products.htm
  21. I have been thinking about a long smoke pole. I think if I ever do go in that direction it will be a flinter. Definitely have no interest in a newfangled centerline muzzle loader. And welcome to the TGO
  22. Mark I have a loader in .45acp and I will bring it. you know, that thing is reliable and once you get the hang of it, it is not hard to make rounds. I have had no trouble whatsoever with any I have made. Near 1000 so far. I am still bouncing around the camping idea, not to sure about how wet it is down at the range though, especially with the rain we have been getting. I know it will be fine for shooting Saturday but not sure about putting a tent down. Higher ground would be better for that. And dang it Mark you have me thinking hard about a 1860 Army in .44
  23. welcome to TGO. TN is a wide state, where you at? I am a naturalized southerner, that or a damn yankee, LOL I was made a southerner by some drunken cracker down in Florida at an auto race one afternoon.
  24. so show us<!-- / message -->
  25. Welcome to TGO, but why do you have a photograph of Dotsun as your avatar?
