Small world Mama, I worked with a guy from Mt. Prospect, his Dad was an ELK. We used to spend many a Saturday afternoon shooting pool and drining beer at the ELK's lodge there. (Wasn't the Bluesmobile bought from the Mt. Prospect police force too?) I am from Cincinnati originally. Got here via Chicagoland and S. Florida Oh and somebody mentioned crawdads? thought it was TDR, maybe in another thread. anyway when I am at the farm in Indiana some of the younger crowd will go to the creek and catch crawdads. When they get enough we heat them in a sandwich grill( one of them things you toast a sandwich in over a fire). Put a crawdad or two in the griller and spalsh it with some beer. Hold over the fire for a minute and voila, perfectly cooked crawdads. Just pop the tail off and suck out the meat. I tell you it is good eating alright. Water or soda works too for cooking the things, just seems I have a beer in my hand.

TDR says We lived in Round Lake beach from 88 until 95. MGD was very popular when they introduced it. With the labeling it was kind of like the evil twin of High Life. i would say your not drinking Old Style probably says something about your age more than your taste in beer. I liked the area up there aside from it got tooo crowded with people, cost of living was too high and gangs were starting to be a problem in Lake County. Was time to get our kids out of there. Loved the proximity to Chicago and Milwaukee though.

A TGO beerfest could be a lot of fun, with or without the firearms. If you lost a friend over some posts on the internet I would ask were they really your friend to begin with. Just saying, yanno you should try to make it out to our shoots. Big fun meeting everyone face to face. And of course there is the added bonus of making fun of Dotsun's guns too. I have never been a real fan of the Ice beers. I have tried them and they seem hard to get down. I will say that Ice beer should be drank very very cold. Old Style, ooof. That was/is the shizzle in Chicagoland. I could never stand it. Extra carbonated swill IMHO. Seems one either loves it or hates it. I was with a bachelor party one time up there. Some yahoo bought two kegs of the stuff. We had already paid in to a fund to pay for the party but a few of us coughed up some more money and made a beer run to get something aside from Old Style. Then we about needed an armed guard to keep the other party goers out of our stash. No one wanted to drink it, LOL. I worked part time in a liquor store in Grayslake Il. We easily sold one case of Old Style for every two cases of beer we sold. I rate it slightly above Carling Black Label in the pecking order. Pull tabs revolutioned the canned beverage industry. Before pull tabs you had to have a can opener (we called them "church keys"). Usually the can opener had a sharp end for puncturing cans and a dull edge for opening bottles. remember there were no twist tops then either. There is some Jimmy Buffet song where he cuts his foot on a pop top. The polished beer drinker would pop the top and drop the tab into the can so as to not litter until the can was empty, then you tossed the entire empty can out the car window. Lots of people kept the pop tops and made chains out of them to decorate the inside of the car. Ahh the good ole days

wow, I have a sort of homemade version of that and I did not even know it. Many times I have used this old Maxwell House can with some vent holes cut in it. I simply light a can of sterno and set the coffee can over it. The can is big enough to support a skillet or pot and I can cook most anything using this.

Old Milwaukee would be higher in the beer pecking order I think. Old Milwaukee at one point was my regular beer. Now I just go for the least expensive I can acquire within reason. Milwaukees Best is made by the Miller Brewing Co. Something I do not understand about beers. Miller High Life now it seems is regarded as a low brow brew. In my younger days it was considered top of the line stuff. How and when did this change? Anyone remember Stroh's? Fire brewed beer, I drank my fair share of it. I never could much stand BPR. A Schlitz Tall Boy brings back memories. And of course Blatz, sold only on tap at the finest rock and roll bars in Cincinnati. But the next day the legend of Blatz gives you the splatz always came true.

I can't believe no one has mentioned the Ruger single action six. I enjoy it way more than any auto loading .22 I have ever fired. It has gone bang 100% of the time, 5000 (?) rds. no matter what ammo I have used. I prefer the Federal bulk pack just for price value.

Milwaukees Best Light. About 58 cents per twelve ounce serving. No table dancing required.

meant to ask what this is?

I hope you all had more fun today than I did. I got most of the dog house rebuilt but still have more of the roofing to create. I salvaged everything from the original build of that dog kennel thing that was here when we bought the place. I tell you it was not easy. For sure I could have used an extra pair of hands. I about killed myself putting the existing roof back on after I raised the supports for it. Now I get to build roofing over about an 8X15 section that has always been uncovered. Actually that will probably be easier as I will use new plywood, 2X4's and shingles. I hope you all had a big day up in Kingsport. I am looking forward to hearing XD's range report on that '51. wish I could have been there.

I am not sure what you mean but I love NASCAR, just can't stand Fox's announcing crew aside from Mike Joy. It makes my head hurt to listen to big mouth waltrip. And all the crass commercialism that they play off like regular commentary turns me off too.

i bet she looks extra hot when she is pissed off. A lot of woman look way more attractive when they are extremely upset or mad. If she was complaining I an extra sure she was in the right. I am not watching NASCRAP until they are on another network

Nah Strick, I ain't wasting my breath, or keystrokes if you would rather. I don't know the guy and doubt I want to after the last couple times he has criticized posts I made. Not the first time he has come down on me like that. No I am not going back and seeking those posts out either. Live and let live is pretty much how I roll. And the Heiny mini kegs prolly taste like Heineken like Mars says. I will throw the one fingered salute though. That can be added to the gun toting beer drinking redneck stereotype.

I wish I could mark. I suspect though if I took off for the hills today I might be sleeping in the dog run tonight. Speaking of which I am supposed to clean it out today and try to figure out how to raise the roof on it. Karin uses it for her gardening stuff and it is a real mess. I get to fix it up. Shoot some rounds and get into some fun stuff for me. I will be missing it for sure.

way to go Canyn. I bet she enjoyed it a lot. I can testify that Wolf stink does not repel mosquitos

I had a cousin who I was visiting one time and he sent his wife to the grocery to pick up some beer. That is exactly what she came back with. White can with the word Beer on it. She said something to the effect of "well that is what you told me to get you" We had a good laugh and drank it up. It was back in the day of generics first appearing on the shelf. you could buy most anything in a white can with a word on it saying what the product was.

I said warbird running at the mouth says Don't go putting your righteousness on me. How about you think twice before making those assumptions. I also believe at my advanced age I can have a few beers and shoot into a dirt pile at a few cans and do it safely. You don't know the first thing about where I shoot or what my backstop is. Warbird mispoke as well I am not sure what you plink with? Fly swatters maybe? A person can certainly have a few beers and be responsible. People have alcohol with dinner all the time and don't go getting DUI's. And just because you think something to be true does not make it so. You are right though about it being your opinion.

wish I was closer. sounds like you all will have a big ole time today!

is it the third weekend of June yet?

Now that is a differnce worth having. I dunno about that Glock grip angle. Dunno how the 1911 angle can be bettered. I say the grip angle is a big selling point. Can't wait to shoot it.

XD where you at today? I did not expect to see you posting here since you are road tripping. wish I was gonna be making smoke with you all tomorrow. Not that I am hurting on the discharge of forearms here. But just the same I bet you all have a great time.

i spent yesterday afternoon and most of this afternoon plinking with my grandson. I just realized how much I truly enjoy the aroma of smokeless powder. Now it ain't black powder, no fair to compare to that. But I tell you I enjoy the kick of aroma that comes from .22's. Dang I enjoyed the last couple days. probably got 800 rounds downrange. His single shot rate of fire has really increased as that rifle breaks in. I bet we esploded 30 or 40 beer and soda cans so far. If he comes back over tomorrow it will be more of the same. My favorite target is a big ass baked bean can full of water. Aim high to make it last and when you get hits it pops the crap out of water inside. Very reactive as far as .22 targets go. Nothing like an afternoon of .22 plinking

6 beers into it. Spent the afternoon plinking with the grandson. He left and I continued plinking with some cold beer on the side !! I think I have 5 more in the ice box. But if that runs out there is some likker in the bar yet. Doubt it will get that far. Dinner is on the grill and once I eat I probably will stop imbibing. Let us know how them mini kegs work out.
