So what do you think they are talking about over there? We ain't allowed. I think they are talking about how they are all voting for Obama and what a good president he will make. Maybe they are all swearing the allegiance to Glock. Either of those or the lack of size of their male appendages. What do you all think?

Hey no problem, before I bought my '58 I spoke to a Cableas rep and all they would tell me is that it was Italian made. I have read on anothr message board where the Cabelas name is on the gun. So you certainly were not wrong. I have not seen a '58 with a case hardened frame. Mine is blued? Just stay away from brass on that revolver as they were never made that way back in the day. The '58 was absolutely the revolver to have during the Civil War. Now if your heart is set on the '73 go for it. I do not mean to scare you off. It is fun to shoot, but there are considerations. Thats all I wanted to point out. If you do get an extra cylinder it seems either the 73 or 58 are the way to go. The Colt's are just more difficult to pull cylinders on. Check Dixie Gunworks for a cylinder reloading stand. The one that comes with the 73 is a POS. I have them both and I only use the one from Dixie. PS: I so love the police '62. But I think I am blowing the gun fund on a rifle for my daughter tomorrow.

what type of shoes do you wear when taking pics of that gun?

I would not re-purchase the '73. I believe it has a weak hammer spring. It is also a lot more difficult to properly clean. The handspring configuration is different on it. Very tiny parts involved. Make Mark happy, get a Colt Army

Burnetts is the standard vodka usedin the Dewtini Liquor does not come in fifths any longer. it is 750 mil. Or 3/4's of a liter. I guess you could call it a fourth\ instead of a fifth ,LOL

The only pipe I need is a crack pipe

Why don't you ask? I doubt they will bite. I always tip if any service is involved. I got tires last Friday after I got my truck back I asked to see the mechanic who serviced my truck. I threw him a fiver. High school kid at the grocer takes my bags to the car he gets a buck or two. Buffet server gets 15%, regular sitdown waitress or waiter who does a kick ass job gets 20%-25%. Crappy service and you get what you deserve. Hot bartenders who keep my beer cold and or glass full get tipped very well when I leave.

'58 Remmy all the way. I don't think it much matter if you get an Uberti or a Pietta. Both are great quality. The Pietta has more visible proof marks on it, but I can't see them when shooting it! Ubereti is gonna cost more I'd get the '58 Remmy again and an extra cylinder.

hmmm... five letter word for a smell

Now you know that stufff is half neutral grain spirits? Basically it is vodka called tequila. But it will serve the purpose. Very fine for mixing. Time to go sling some likker

Cabelas DOES sell both Pietta and Uberti, I have one of each from there. Neither one has the word "Cabelas" on it.

Any vote not cast for McCain this time around is the same thing as a vote for the Democrat.

If Obama has his way we will all have non valid carry permits. He has come out against carrying in case you did not know. It pisses me off to no end when someone says they are pro 2A and mention hunting as the validation. Freaking hunting has not the first thing to do with the 2A. Not the first thing! I do not care how or why but I hope he is not elected.

I find Grandad okay mixed 50/50 with water over ice. It is a little hot but worth it for the extra oomph, do not compare it with Woodford or the like. More comparable to Beam White Label. I have never tasted it. Tequila is not a very good seller in this market. There is one top dog and all the others are also rans. Of course I am talking about Patron. We handle a couple of very good Tequilas, all 100% agave. I think we are getting a contract on some Cuervo like tequila, but I can't think of the name of it. It will be some BS priced to compete with Jose. Personally I would rather see the effort go into selling some other spirit but then I am not consulted on these affairs, LOL. We actually are getting one tequila that comes in a 1911 (yes the gun) shaped bottle. We will market it exclusively in Gatlinburg. Gonna retail for about 40 bucks for a 375 ml bottle. shhhh keep it under your hat. I am jockeying to get to keep the sample bottle they sent us. We do have one very unique Mexican liquor though. It is Mezcal called Scorpion. I have tasted it but never got my mind right drinking it. The attraction is that it comes with an actual Scorpion in the bottle as opposed to a meal worm which traditionally comes in Mezcal. I had my days drinking tequila. About 25 years ago. Not so much nowdays aside from the occassional couple of shots if we are in Gatlinburg eating at the bar of No Way Joses. I like to have a shot or two of good stuff with a bottle or two of Dos Equis. Anyway Brown Foreman is a monster in the spirits industry. I do not believe we sell any of their labels. I just looked up their labels and they appear in need of a top shelf tequila so this may be a good acquisition for them. Hard to compete with Patron though. But even if you can get a percent or two of the market you can make huge money. Klan, LOL touche!! hahahahahaha I dunno about drinking that stuff period. Might make a good drain cleaner. But they do have a percent of the market here, someone is making money on it.

Ooof, Bighting Cock and Heathen Hill should not be mentioned in the same thread that mentions Van Winkle and Woodford. LOL I am not a big fan at all of Grey Goose, Stoly not so much. Both of them have a taste to it. Vodka should be neutral and basically only taste like what you mix it with. If you like the Luksowa you really ought to give VikingFjord a try. Especially if you are east of the plateau, LOL. It is one of our brands and a big seller. You can find it in 1.75 ltr glass bottles for 19.99 or maybe even as low as 16.99 if you find it on sale. Also look for the necker that is a $3 mail in rebate. BTW VikingFjord is potatoe based like Luksowa. If I drink vodka I mix it with diet Mt. Dew. It makes a Dewtini. All rights reserved! Mix it three parts Mt. Dew to one part vodka. i tried the Cap't Reserve one time, won't be making that mistake again, LOL Big hangover alright. Too much sugar in that stuff. Karhman let us know what you find out about the Evan and Woodford. I am curious as to how you find them different. wow this thread took off Dave stay away from the Clan, bad juju in that bottle. Would I be out of line to say bad JewJew in that bottle sorry, really.... I did sell a special order and delivery of Badel today though. 4 one liter bottles of it out the door to one of our retailer customers.

Evan Williams Single Barrel is one of my favorites and price wise is in the Woodford range. I prefered it to woodford as it had a less sour taste but had exceptional smoothness on the finish and was not overly hot. I cannot think if the exact name of it but it comes in squatty square shaped bottle and would be in the single barrel section of the bourbons. Bill, I never tried the Van Winkle but everyone says it is something very special. With most bourbons price can indicate quality and that being the case the Van Winkle ought to be that dang good.

I would be concerned where moonshine is coming from. I was getting it from a dude who also sold beef jerky out of the trunk of his car, LOL. We made him a deal on Crown Royal for his wife and inturn he gave me a deal on shine and jerky. I tell you the jerky was ther best I have ever had. The mix of corn mash and other grain definitely has a huge effect on the final product. I believe you are right on with what you say about that Rabbi. Woodford is lighter and a bit more sour than the top of the line Evan Williams. I beleive the Woodford has less rye. Makers Mark is a hotter bourbon which I believe has more rye. Jim Beam Black Label has maple syrup like finish tones to it that the Beam people say is due to the oak barrels it is aged in. I have done their taste test and if someway you ever get a chance to do that I recommend it. Leaned a lot on that bus. Did you know that barrels being rotated around in the barrel house can change the flavor? Some barrel houses have massive operations to rotate barrels so they spend equal amounts of time at the different levels of storage. Different oaks can give the spirit subtle flavor differences. These are very noticable on single barrel bourbons. With the blends and small batches is get harder to detect. The Clan McGregor is pretty nasty stuff there Rabbi. Try to find something that comes in glass. Dotsun mentioned Grants. That stuff is affordable and tastes great.

The last time I got some white lightning I put blackberries in it along with a table spoon of sugar. Softened it up a lot and made it taste a whole lot better. I think I still have some in the mini fridge. Blackberry and also some peach. It will get you there in a hurry. As for taste I prefer Jim Beam Black Label, for a few dollars more I like the Woodford Reserve. There are a couple of brands of moonshine available in package stores around here. One is called Georgia Moon. Comes in a jar. I have never tasted it and IIRC it was not a very good seller.

Bourbon contains at least 51% corn mash and aged for two years. At one time there were very strict laws in what could be a bourbon. Now days there is a lot more latitude on that. it is a common misnomer that bourbon must come from Bourbon County KY. That is not true. As I had posted in the Rabbi's original thread about whisky and ginger there is a bourbon on the market that is distilled in Virginia. Bonded bourbon such as Evan Williams White Label must be 51% corn at minimum and aged in a newly charred white oak barrel, aged four years minimum and bottled at 100 proof. Also the timing of the tax being paid is involved. Bonded bourbon is not really a big deal anymore.

rabbi posted on the "Tungsten screwed the pooch thread" As the spirit ages it takes on flavors and tones from the barrel. Different stands of oak trees make barrels that offer different hints of flavor. The woody taste you refer to is characterized as "Oakiness" or how "Oaky" the spirit is. Remember Scotch is aged in used barrels, so the flavor is doubly effected. I believe the smoothness that a bourbon can gain from extra years in the barrel is not available when scotch re-uses that barrel. Aside from Oak there is a multitude of factors that go into individual flavors of different labels of bourbon.

I seldom meet people who know so much about liquor. Urse posted Who are you referring to Urse? Of course there is a huge difference between Grandad, Woodford and Blantons. I had already stated the big difference in bourbon is years aged. Woodford is a very soft bourbon aged a tad longer than four years, IIRC it is 8 year old. Never personally drank Blantons but I believe it is in the same league as Woodford. Both of which aside from aged longer are also single barrel bourbons. They are both higher proof as well, 92 maybe. Most bourbons are blends of thousands of barrels. Small batch bourbon is typically about 100 barrels blended. Single barrel is just that. The bottle contains spirits from one specific barrel. For that matter Early Times is not even a bourbon. Read the label, no claim to be bourbon on it. Early Times is aged in recycled bourbon barrels. At best it is KY whisky. For whisky to be bourbon one condition is that it is aged in a new charred oak barrel. Also ET is 80 proof Old Grandad is bourbon and also fine product for the money. It is 86 proof and aged for four years IIRC.

I am guessing you can buy from WalMart cheaper than ordering online.
