  1. Hitler through a series of political moves was able to get the German constitution suspended. I do not see THAT scenario happening here, but one never knows. I do not think Hitler's rise to dictatorship is a good example of what Obama could do. A big part of what enabled Hitler to acomplish his goal was fear of communism, and the ability to blame certain problems on the communists. As I have read the average person in Germany was not affected by what Hitler was doing at the time. I am not so sure the average person here and now would not be affected by it is Obama tried.
  2. I do not want aftermarket M1 mags. Thanks for the info anyway billy, I hear they are hit mor miss as far as working among other reasons. I think it a sin to put something like that in a fine weapon that helped win the Big One. I also think part of the fun of owning this weapon is the scrounging it may take to find vintage accessories for it. I am kicking myself ( did not know a fat old man could reach his ass with his foot but I can) for not buying a vintage sling I saw for it at the gun show this last weekend. But I did get some vintage mags, one of them is a Union Hardware. Never saw one of those before and it is in near 100% condition. Got another that was the same make as my rifle, an Inland.
  3. I appreciate sarcasm as humor but I ask this question in all seriousness. How would he go about becoming a dictator here? I ain't doubting people are like rats following the pied piper. Still don;t understand how it will happen And with his term to be over at the beginning of 2013 I wonder how coincidental it is that the Mayan date book ends in December of 2012.
  4. I will go out onto a limb and guess Adolph Hitler??
  5. i never doubted it for a minute. I am quitting my job tomorrow, Obama will take care of me. I am lying
  6. you mean this is not true?
  7. so how does a President go about becoming a dictator?
  8. I use the tried and true method of writing them on a post it note
  9. thats a hoot
  10. Slim i disagree with you. gun prices were very fair. amm prices were very fair. I did not see anything overpriced, i have read threads started by you. and I can only surmise that you are a troll, and nothing can make you happy.
  11. The fireworks show was a success!! Them things would definitely start a fire if I was not careful where I was shooting them. The leaves on my dirt pile were wet and I still had several small blazes going, yikes. The chemical in the tracer burned a very bright red. It was pretty cool. Would look better if fired at a hundred yard range rather than the thirty I shotthem at tonight. Should have bought more.
  12. grandson trumps a son everytime!!
  13. that is old. Think i first read this a few months ago. I wonder if it still goes on. Pretty f'd up for sure.
  14. was good seeing you too 70 Below. I hope you can make it to the shoot next week in Kingsport. Your internet deal on .380 was better than mine from Ga Arms. I am guessing you did not sell the rifle? I wish I had seen whoever was selling M1 parts. I would like to get some back ups. I do have an online source for some that I need to follow up on. I am going outside tonight at about 7:00 to test out some of the tracer rounds. Good thing the woods are still wet, LOL
  15. Got back from the gunshow a little while back. I met up with OhShoot, SUNTZU, Dad of SUNTZU and another guy. We ran into a few fellow TGO'ers as well. Had a great time. There was a line stretched out for near 50 yards at 9:30 when we met up. But it moved very quickly. I have only been to a handful of gun shows the last couple of years and this was far and away the most crowded one. Me and OhShoot stepped outside about 11:30 to get some air and the line was still stretched out. Ga. Arms was set up and I picked up some very reasonably priced .45 LC and .380. SUNTZU practically forced me to buy a bag of 25 tracer rounds for the M1, well not practically as I DID buy them. My treasure of a find was an old guy selling vintage militaria at unbelievable cheap prices. I picked up a USGI 1911 mag in .45ACP as well as a 30 round and 15 round mag for my M1. The 15 rounder was made by the Union Hardware Company and is in near 100% condition. The 30 rounder is near 100% too as well as the 1911 mag being in remarkable condition. I also picked up an Inland Manufacturing mag from another table. All in all it was a great way to spend the morning. I did not see any price gouging, Ammo and guns were all priced as they would have been a week ago. Ammo was flying off the tables though. I bet they do a record amount of those sales. I did not see more than a couple of AK's or AR's. I did not look at pricing on those I saw. We did have a classic moment though. Below is picture evidence of the elusive CCW badge on a belt next to a OC'd handgun. What a dork!
  16. if that did happen the gov't would recieve a tremendous windfall in tax moneys. Cashing out the 401k results in paying a penalty. I would have never closed mine out if it was not for reinvesting in my home. The trade off of paying a penalty versus buying a house was worth it to me.
  17. my sig line had nothing to do with politics or the election
  18. opens at 9 am on Saturday and Sunday. I think it runs until 5 Saturday and 4 on Sunday. They mail me a coupon whenever there is a gun show cause I am special
  19. I just can't buy into that. I wonder what the numbers were on welfare takers who cast ballots. I am not thinking they are all that motivated to get out and vote. Suprisingly enough I suspect many contributing members of society voted Democratic. Obama followed the tried and true method to reaching office. Which is to promise everything and anything to those you are trying to get to support you. Once you win the lack of following through on the promises does not matter so much. I am not so much a fan of his but I am all for supporting the president until he lets the country down. If Obama follows through on all he promised he will more than likely be re-elected. If not he will be out on his ear with a slew of other Dem's. Might not be a perfect system but it is our system.
  20. it ought to be fairly entertaining. Don't know what I am looking for but I bet I find something I like.
  21. Not cheap, look here http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=115128014
  22. I had heard of it for a couple of weeks before the election. Neal Bortz and the egotist Limbaugh were both talking about it. If it happens I will be happy I cashed mine in to buy a house, if it does not happen I am no worse off than I am now.
  23. for the heck of it I checked again today, it was 14 something bucks now for a box of fifty. Must have been a mistake on the 29 bucks. My faith is restored in humanity
  24. what BK and verbal said. the 35 bucks i sent the NRA will do more good than a freaking box of bullets. NRA bashers really make me shake my head. My voice alone is not worth much. But add all NRA members together and legislators listen. They do not have to be in the paper daily or on the TV to be working for our cause. And just because they back off on a stance does not mean they are sell outs. Getting things done in DC is all about comprimise. Do you seriously think Heller would have stood a chance without the NRA?
  25. I dunno what I am even looking for at the gun show. Maybe some lead bullets for reloading .38's. Last time though they screwed me out of 28 bullets. Guy must of had his thumb on the scale. I am sure I will find something. I only go to two or three of them a year. Can't go every time. A couple 1911 mags or a couple of .30 cal mags for the M1 might be nice if it is not rip off city.
