Keep in mind that the 40 bucks for the 1911 might be more than a weeks pay. I remember my grandparents house payment being something like 36 bucks a month.

Put me down as someone who really loves his SP-101. It is my primary. The double action is very smooth. Shooting single action the gun is like butter.

I don't understand the "can't shoot them" mentality. it is a gun, nothing more. Would you buy a washer and dryer and not clean your clothes? A pick up truck and not haul some mulch? A quad and not take it out on a trail?

why not try CMP to save a few dollars, actually a few hundred dollars.

Speaking in terms of a self defense round a person can only be killed so dead. Once the .357 was made everything else was just overkill. And besides, everybody knows that people who carry the .357 mag have really big man parts. 9mm, not so much.

I think a lot of the draw to a 1911 is the history in them. And they are all based on the designs of one of the most prolific inventors ever. Are there better guns out there? Probably. But no handgun collection is complete without one.

for a survival situation I would take the little single shot .22. It is very accurate, does not weigh very much and I could attach it to a small pack, or put it in a larger pack. But in actuality am I hiking out of Knoxville for somehwere else? Probably not. I am too old, wife is too old, realistically whatever happens will happen here at home. Chances are if there is some kind of survivalist situation most of us would find ourselves away from our gun stash. So having my daily sidearm and enough rounds to reload once or twice would have to suffice until making it home. If it is a real SHTF situation I will try to get home and hunker down.

I am curious. are there metal detectors everyone goes through? Or do they frisk everyone?

If it is Sunday and after 11 AM and before 6 pm I do not see how anyone could make a case you are disturbing them. Sunday is just one of 7 days of the week. No more, no less.
