yanno, I been reading this thread and since an earlier post then staying out of it. It has gone off on a path or two better left off of message boards. At any rate, this is not going to jump from potentially closing the gun show loop hole or and AWB to kicking in our doors at 3AM in one fell swoop. Things tend to ratchet up bit by bit.

exactly Daniel. While opinion against the war was strong before that date once Tet started it really went off the board. It has basically been a liberal heyday ever since with a brief respite when The Gipper was in office.

You can buy a black powder revolver through mail order as long as you have a means to send a check or money order to pay for it. I do not believe there are any age restrictions on the firearm, caps, balls, or powder. Also the percussion pistols can be sent through US regular mail. A properly loaded percussion revolver will be very reliable and accurate. Seal the percussion cap onto the nipple with a little drop of wax and the gun will remain ready to fire for a very long time. These pistols come in all shapes and sizes anywhere from a massive handgun for hunting or a small hideout gun for easy concealment.

the only thing Mark is missing is a howitzer with a traversing mechanism to control river traffic and vehicles coming up the road.

nice post Marshall. I believe while speaking toongue in cheek what you say is very true. If the gov't wants to stick it to you they will stick it to you. Wait til they check your couch and bedding for the little tags too. If you had old tags that do not mention the end consumer being able to remove them they will get you for another felony.

Pretty simple to get fixed, not necessarily cheap. Get a lawyer to handle it for you. It will cost you several hundred dollars probably, but at that point it will then be behind you. The expungement may take several months. At least thats how it worked for me, YMMV. I am good to go now. No more denials. Money well spent.

A new shooter, with little to no knowledge of a manual of arms is going to be better served by the DA revolver. How many trained and gun knowledgable people have up and shot themselves with a Glock? How many have done it with a DA revolver? A new shooter is more than likely going to fondle the trigger. The long pull of a DA revolver will be their friend.

Mark when you get back we will have to hook up to go to a show. I don't think the Big O can kill them off. He might be able to stop FTF sales ( doubting that too) but the shows will go on. someday I forsee him trying to stop FTF sales, but an enterprising FFL could then make a killing by doing transfers on the cheap. Keep the price real low and make up for it in volume. Daniel I ate the MRE for lunch yesterday. It was definitely worth five bucks. I would have spent more than that going out to get something. Might go ahead and buy a case of them next time just to stash away for camping or to carry in the truck for emergencies. Did you open yours up? Lots of stuff in it.

did not have HCP when arrested, received it a week or so later. Got the letter from TDOS almost 3 months after receiving HCP. Case did not play out for about 5 months. bunch of BS that I am glad the door is closed upon. Maybe it has changed now 18 months later but the going armed charge was a Class A misdemeaner. The gun denial was approved on appeal as the case had not adjuticated yet. But the background checkers said any gun purchases I made would be case by case, and basically denied each time until it was settled. I will tell you all about over lunch one day.
-
I just need one more box of each caliber right now.

when i personally went through this charge( later to be rightfully dismissed as out of hand) I was denied a gun purchase, and TDOS sent me a letter saying to basically either show the charge edjudicated in my favor or the permit was no longer valid. I am not going back and researching it all over again, but I DO remember finding law that said you could not buy guns with a conviction on that charge. I dunno maybe you can keep what you already have??

Handgun sale to individul legalities

why do you have to tell UPS or FedEx what is in the box? -
alcoholic is my guess. I did not re-read the story but wasn't it in a social setting or semi-social setting where drinking was involved?

I have never heard much good about after market magazines for these things.

I have a RIA 1911 Govt' model. It ran like crap out of the box. Now after near 2000 rounds it runs okay. I was told get the Wilson mags they will solve all the problems. Kind of funny now that whenever I have a FTF now it is ALWAYS the Wilson mag, always. What Mark@sea said is very correct. The problems stem from magazine issues. I do not know if it is true, but I believe this to be true. Condition the mags by leaving them loaded. Once I did this the problems really started diminishing. The Novak mag that came with the gun works good now, and old vintage colt mag from a gun show has worked flawlessy since I bought it. And even an aftermarket 1911 mag for 6.99 now runs better than the Wilson. Anyone in Knox want to trade something for the Wilson?
-
I have shot one and I think we were shooting Rem Gold bulk pack ammo through it. I would definitely say if it won't run mini mags there are issues. Ammo would not effect the exctraction. Let us know how the repair goes. I bet it is in tip top shape when you get it back.
-
1911's are great if you get one that runs 100%. Seems to me that about 1 out of 3 have issues ranging from needing several hundred break in rounds to needing tuning. If you get one of the 2 out of 3 that run right out of the box you will love it.

or use a pencil with the eraser end facing the firing pin.

I have ordered parts from Henry before and got great service. They even called back once to make sure we were all on the same page. I bet the rifle comes back a real good shooter. Curious what ammo and did you try some different ammo?

You Snooze, You Lose - Stock up on magazines
Mike.357 replied to ZenDog's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
about $30 each for 50 round boxes. I am guessing they are not newfangled, high powered, kill you by just seeing them kind of rounds. But they are .45's so even if one whistles past your ear your head will explode. Two were enough then, not enough today. As a side note, if I had bought that gun a week sooner I would be mailing a form to Springfield for two free mags. Bastards ended the deal on those on the 16th. -

i guess with ammo i full blown panic buying still, and EBR's and such getting hard to get normal capacity pistol mags are next on the "buy 'em up" list. I ordered two mags for the XD45 today from Cabelas and yep, you guessed it, backordered. But I did score some JHP ammo for it at a fair price. Well fair considering.
