  1. there is always this http://www.xdtalk.com/forums/main-room/
  2. I do not care about a persons party affiliation. A lot of what Ihave read about Williams is he appeared to be more of an independent then either a Dem or Republican. I think the Repub's are upset that he sort of outsmarted them in this whole business with being Speaker. There is no loyalty in politics. Thats what makes me chuckle when there is inference that Williams is/was a disloyal republican
  3. So how many round must you run through a pistol before you consider it reliable to carry? Are you talking rounds in general or the actual round you will carry? What about a pistol that had failures when new, but now seems to run good. Again how many rounds until you think it is reliable? My XD45 had one round jam when it was spanking new, about three mag loads in. No failures in several hundred rounds since, including 50 rounds of hollow points I carry, about 350 rounds total I am guessing. Also my RIA 1911 had numerous failures until recently. The last five or six times I have shot it it has been flawless, including running a box of hollow points through it. I am guessing I have near 2000 rounds through the 1911 with about the last 600 or so with no failures. On the other hand my SP101 has never failed.
  4. do these types of people actually listen to what they are saying? Lets see, there are criminal types in city parks so we should not allow law abiding citizens to defend themselves. But there is not much crime in state parks so self defense is okay there. What a screwball.
  5. Every poll I have seen or heard mentioned by mainstream media shows an overwhelming amount of taxpayers are against this thing. Isn't congress there to do OUR bidding? How dare they go against the views of constituents. Personally I believe a recession or depression from doing nothing is going to be a lot better than what congress is trying to do.
  6. Then you would be an outlaw. From the age you list I doubt you will see the day guns are banned outright. I doubt I will live to see that day either. I believe it lays in the hands of the generation behind me. Present company excepted I am not so sure of them people having backbone to do what will need to be done.
  7. take the barrel, cut it in half. Burry each half side by sidein the ground. Build a small shack around it, frame to sit on and you have a nice two holer. No more filling up the septic. Now thats off the grid. Chipmunk band optional.
  8. can you do an upper decker in a wallet?
  9. Off the top of my head they are 500 to 600 bucks from CMP. People ask 800 on up at gun shows for them.
  10. Who AP no need for name calling, really. While I know what an upper decker is I can't actually imagine being the type of person who would do this to anybody. Tower is right, who thinks these things up? I don't live anywhere near Uselton's shop. but after reading quotes from him in the news story I can't believe I would ever be inclined to spend a nickel in his shop. There are plenty of good guys in the business to deal with. Never been to Hero Gear but that place is highly recommended, ATF in Oak Ridge is great people to deal with, even that Jewish fellow in North Nashville has many good things said about his business.
  11. What I can't believe is that every gun shop owner in the state is not on this site. No doubt TGO has been good for business for the better gun shops here in Tennessee. I could name a half dozen off the top of my head I would deal with just because I have read good things about them here. The not so better gun shops also get found out about. And I would think if they were here on this sight they might get some actual outside insight into how their business is perceived. It's a win - win situation for the membership here. I hope the email Tungsten referenced really is Rick Uselton. Maybe he can learn something too.
  12. keep the HCP with the DL, wear a CCW Badge on the belt
  13. Color me naive but why would you go beyond field stripping a gun for cleaning purposes? Springs and all them little doo-dads scare me.
  14. no kidding. If you are getting a return they are taking too much out of your paychecks. I get a bill it always seems. Can't seem to get them to take enough out each week. I wonder if I opted out accepting services from the gov't would they let me opt out of paying taxes? ( I do concede that some tax money goes to roads which I use, so I would be willing to throw a % towards thats) I am not sure what gov't services I really use.
  15. Range bags are a real conumdrum. You can either get one big enough to hold several pistol, ammo and accoutrements. Then get the crane you need to lift it. Or get a smaller bag and a seperate ammo container. No matter what system I have tried I find I have too much stuff I like to take with me for a day at the range. Its easier here at home. Load up the golf cart and drive to the range.
  16. Let me know when they are coming, I may want a Smith?? I think it would be a hoot to come visit and watch Shadow12 actuallly do some work.
  17. LMAO, a lot can happen in five years
  18. they gonna let you shoot the guns?
  19. Thanks, I love you guys too. LOL
  20. thats exactly what i was thinking. The only time I have ever needed to tool on a gun at the range was on a Mosin Nagant. A 4X4 worked fine. Other than that my Swiss Army Knife and the two screwdriver pieces have solved any puzzle I ever had while shooting.
  21. I made it through about 2:25 of that crap. I want my time back.
  22. like I said, look in your cabinet. Take ordinary vinegar. It works great. No need to go buy something special. I did it to a black powder revolver I had to make the pistol a white steel model. I can't imagine any of the other processes working better. I soaked the gun parts in a tray. You might have to invent a tray considering the length of a barrel. Probably did not take more than 5 minutes if even that. I am guessing a rag soaked in vinegar and wiped on the barrel would work just as well. Might take a few minutes longer.
  23. I have never been able to feel straight about a Yugo 59/66 and whether or not it is an SKS. I have seen it s'plained both ways on the webz. FWIW I call my Yugo an SKS.
  24. Nice looking stuff, suprised there is no Yugo in there. But I guess a Yugo really is not an SKS
  25. I would take the job waiting tables over a gas mart. There is a real benefit to having cash in the pocket at the end of the day even if it is just a few bucks.
