just when things go quiet it happens again. I have not heard a peep or squeek or scratchy sound from the attic since the last go round. Last night I no sooner walked into the house than I heard one of the furry beasts flopping around on a trap. seems the more they flop the better they get stuck. I hate dealing with these things in the dark. They have the tactical advantage when it is dark. And one never knows how many more are lurking nearby. So I go to get this one out of the eave. He had stopped flopping all together. I think the little bastard gave himself a heart attack. I yanked him and the trap out. He was stuck like Chuck. A little fellow he was. Not to matter he was going down. In general I am not in favor of executing youths. But with these critters I make an exception. Since the last one took several gunshots and bullets ain't getting any cheaper I decided the shovel was my friend. I think I need to practice my touch a little with the shovel execution method. I gave the fuzzball a good crack and he freaking fairly exploded. Monk guts everywhere. I tell you it was disgusting. I scooped him and his various pieces up and deposited him in a walmart bag. Gonna dispose of him in the dumpster at work today. If I bury any more around here I will need a cemetery license. I think this makes 8 total KIA this winter season. The bright side it there are no casualties on the human side of the battle. Anyone have a clue as to how many chipmonks make up a settlement? Man I wish I knew how they were getting in. I am gonna have to buy some more traps next time I go to the store.

I was in the SMNP Sunday. Did not hear any gun shots, did not see blood on the trail and no, the steams did not flow red either. I did feel even safer than normal while there.

we just got back from our Valentines Day celebration. Our wedding anniversary is the 20th so we combined both into one this year. Went to Gatlinburg yesterday. Got a nice room on the parkway right in town. We walked around town a bit. I love the two sauce stores in town. You get to walk through and sample near everything they sell. Bought a few jars of salsa and red pepper dip. Went back to the room to chill for a bit before going out to dinner. Had a few adult beverages then went to Howard's for dinner. We had the "Steak for Two" dinner. Which was a 20 oz T-Bone and a 12 ounce sirloin tip. oofah, it might have been the best steak dinner I have ever had. I even went back out at about 10:00 or so to get dessert from Calhouns. It was called chocolate cake but it was more than just cake. Got it to-go, it included a hunk of chocolate cake, vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and chocolate syrup. The wife nuked the cake, poured the syrup on it and we shared. it was freaking good! Checked out of the hotel this morning and went to Cades Cove. Just did the drive thing through there with one short hike. It was a lot of fun. Stopped at Smoky Mtn Knifeworks on the way back home. I got a new blade for work as well as an inert pineapple grenade. Great weekend (though we went a little over budget) and I am off the hook for the anniversary now too!!
