  1. I would choose one based on how good the barrel was and how much life it had left in it. You can replace furniture fairly cheaply in relation to the cost of the rifle. Wish I could go there someday. I dunno how you would pick one out of what they must have there to see.
  2. there is also Chuck Swan up past Maynardville. Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - Region 4 - Chuck Swan WMA They have a 100 yard lane for rifles and another shorter one for pistols. I have only been there one time. IIRC there was a covered shooting area with two concrete benches. No supervision and also no cost to shoot. Have not been there in near two years though.
  3. well, lets keep our fingers crossed that they can work it out. I am not optimistic though.
  4. No problem Phil, I understand how things vary from area to area. If I had not taken the class from this guy and still feel strongly about their class, ( in spite of my not so warm and fuzzy feeling for KCSD in general ) I would not recommend it.
  5. I wish I could say I am suprised but I am not suprised. I am guessing there is some political hijynx here.
  6. I am happy Knox County is not like where you are. Fiero guy, unless you want to take one on an earlier date stick with what you signed up for. no extra hoops, no BS, no rescheduling. I took the class from Lett and would do it again
  7. I think you have the wrong idea about this specific class. It is not taught by the Knox County Sheriffs office. Mike Lett is an instructor for the sheriffs office. He teaches officers and recruits. Lett is a Sgt. in the department. I do not claim to know why or how, but the class is taught at the regional training center by Lett and people he hires. It is not taught by the sheriffs department. I hope that is understandable. Basically somehow he has a deal where he can use the facility. AFAIK it is the only civilian use of the place. Lett also is a FFL, no doubt he sells guns to cops on the side. He also always has a set of tables at the local gunshows in Knoxville. He is a good guy and I believe teaches the state of Tennessee's course by the book. I took the class from them and it was an A-1 experience, first class all the way. They issue a certificate of course completion at the end of the day with complete instructions on how and where to go to get the permit application in motion. I have heard stories about people who took the course from other instructors and waiting on their certificate, and also not really knowing how to go about the application process. At any rate Fiero guy will get top notch instruction in all facets of the HCP.
  8. Punisher I knew you would find away to jump in here. Nicely played.
  9. how does the dues thing work? is it based on a calender or a year from when you purchase?
  10. Are we going to try to get one together in May? Third Saturday would make it on May 16. Any ideas on a location? Bueller? Anyone?
  11. I always just have it shipped to my work. I donlt know if that is an option for the OP. Getting it at work also keep the wifey from knowing too much, LOL. The UPS guy gets a kick out of delivering to me in a spirits warehouse. He always asks where the tobacco is. Thinks that is funny as all heck.
  12. sucks, hate to read about it and sorry it happened. Keep your chin up for him.
  13. I wish I had thought of doing that. I did torch my burn box the other day, should have saved it for yesterday too.
  14. It was my pleasure. Heck I don't even have a 9mm and I almost got 500 rounds myself. I am sick, flat out addicted to ammunition. PS Oh yeah it was at the East Town WalMart off of Millertown Rd. They had several thousand rounds yet when I left today.
  15. Its nice to have friends looking out for you
  16. I celebrated earth day by making needless trips around town to burn gas and leave a bigger daily carbon footprint.
  17. better to have something like this reposted 100 times than for it to slip through the cracks somehow. This bill if somehow it became law would end gun ownership as we all know and love it. Soon after the banning would begin.
  18. Heck I was going to ask if he has found out yet if his pistol fits her holster, but that would be in poor taste.
  19. I am curious if the senator who removed the time limit thing is rated as a supporter of gun rights. Or was this a left handed move to undermine this legislation?
  20. Classic, if they can hear you scream you do not need to protect youself, just classic. Yep, gotta remember screaming is my friend, carrying is not my friend. Glad that got cleared up for me.
  21. they can have my guns, right after I give them the bewletts.
  22. This would be nice. It sucks to have to strip magazines when we go somewhere to shoot. And driving a pickup truck I either have to empty mags and stripper clips or shuffle crap around in the toolbox to make room for this stuff. Sounds petty and all but it is a hassle. And how many people are guilty of carrying loaded rifle mags inside their cars right next to the rifles they fit in?
  23. dunno if "bit" is the right wording, I got two fingers pinched in the trigger group of the Garand when I was pulling it out of the rifle. Yep it smarted, but did not leave a mark. I also shot Daniel with my .25, he will be pissed if he ever finds out.
  24. I got one yesterday too. i would send them the money but I already got my CCW badge.
  25. I am sure the current administration will follow these results closely.
